Nature Therapy

Saturday was glorious, sunny, and 63 degrees. though in the sun it felt more like 68. We took an impromptu trip to Lory state park which is just 15-20 minutes from our house. We intended on doing a little hiking, some rock climbing and stick collecting. But our toes were begging for dirt and sand between them, so off came the shoes as we waded in the lake, got soaking wet, discovered two caves, and soaked in the sun. It was good for the soul and was just what i needed. God created this earth with all its beauties for us, yesterday it was to heal my spirit and sustain me for the rest of the week.

Every childs dream: Doing chores

No matter how much our kids dislike doing chores, it has been so important in teaching our children that the privilege of being part of such an awesome family (super awesome), comes with responsibility. We work together, and we play together.

Last week we had let the laundry slide a little and had a plethora of socks to sort, and a couple baskets of laundry to fold. So, Saturday morning, when Dad is already at work taking tests, and writing papers, and such, the kids and I are at home, in our PJ's, begrudgingly folding laundry.

Of course Anna is doing her best to hide and shirk her family responsibility. Sometimes we let it slide. She's got time to learn. Just think of all the work she and Hazel will have to do once the older kids have left home and the responsibilities that were once shared by 5, will suddenly be the work of 2. :)

Family Fall Fun

I consider it a miracle when I have the energy (and self motivation) to take the kids out for the day. Managing my brood all by myself can be overwhelming to me, not to mention that I tend to be more introverted lately, and would rather be a homebody. But last thursday (when the kids get out of school early) We went to the library, and it was such a crisp fall day, that we went to the library park afterwards.

It snowed the next day.

I knew that it was a little bit of Gods grace, helping me to give my kids that small moment of pure childhood.

Rub a Dub Dub

We managed bath time for all 5 kids in one bathroom. It worked pretty well!  Jeremiah was is our shower right next to us. Of course, no pictures of that, thank goodness.
