Dear all,
We are organizing a ‘Tsunami Aid Day’ to collect Tsunami Relief Funds. This event will be held at Grace Methodist Church Sentul basketball court next Saturday, January 8, 2004, from 3pm till 7pm. This drive will be done up with a bazaar/carnival/flea market type of setting but its motives are strictly for raising awareness and collecting funds, clothing, food, toys etc. for victims of the Tsunami in Myanmar and Thailand. There will be food and music during the event, a powerpoint presentation on the tragedy that has taken place and other activities as well. With the recent tsunami event, they are calling out for funds from all over the world, so we are given the opportunity to do our bit as well, it may not be much, but every little effort at this moment counts.
We invite and encourage you to come and play a part in making this happen. We hope to invite you, as you represent someone from our social circle of family, relatives, friends, church members etc. We hope this email finds you well and hope that you will come join us next Saturday as well as spread the word and encourage others to join you as well. Although both Bangsar Lutheran Church and Grace Methodist Church are collaborating on this project in conjunction with World Vision, we do assure you that this isn’t a church event but is open to anyone and everyone. At this point when life is so fragile, there should not be racial or religious barriers but we should celebrate life together. We already have friends who are of different races and religions joining us and we hope you do too.
Thank you for your time reading this email. We hope this initiative can be shared with you and your family and friends too. The reason we are conducting this event is so all of us can dedicate a few hours of our time to the victims and survivors of this incident. Rather than just giving the money or dropping of clothes, we hope to go a bit further to acknowledge this tragedy and the lives lost. Also, it is a time to appreciate our lives and the fact that we were not the ones directly affected.
This has been our call to action and we hope it spurs you to do your part as well. Thank you again and hope to hear from you! If you need more information and details, feel free to email us for it!
Best regards,

...and what about..?
Here I am, loafing around the house, well, not loafing as in lazing but more of being in deep contemplation, reflection and in my own world and thoughts, as I am most of the time, almost all my life since I was a teenager anyway. I enjoy having my own time. I enjoy being alone sometimes. I enjoy my space and having my time to think. Perhaps tonight is one of those times, with that other little niggling extra though. I'm feeling a little empty. A little tired.
I took a long and quiet drive home from the office. The hunger I felt wasn't there anymore thanks to the biscuits from my production box, which reminds me, I have to take stock of my boxes and label them. Bummer. Arrived home safely with barely a quarter of my strength left. Tired minds and hearts normally result in tired bodies. Had a drink and sat in front of the tube with a bag of chips, which I hardly ever do. Urm...yeah, I hardly ever watch TV, and I don't have a habit of eating chips for fun. Contemplated playing the PS2, which I've neglected; and even wondered if I should watch a DVD, another of those things I hardly ever do. Some aspiring filmmaker I am. Hah.
Was on my laptop. Well...I still am now aren't I? I have a paper to write for BLC's year end edition of the Mustard Seed, our newsletter.
Then I made my daily visit to Sivin's blog. And this link, http://www.worldonfire.ca/ caught my attention. It should catch yours too. Why don't you take a couple of minutes to visit that site? If you're busy, do bookmark it and just visit it later.
Sarah McLachlan is one of the premier female vocalists around as far as I'm concerned. Always enjoyed her stuff. What a video. Simplicity is indeed beauty sometimes. Like Sivin said in his blog, I too like the contrasts and matters of perspectives used in the video. Good stuff.
Empty feeling-filler No.1 obtained.
Just as I was viewing this video and listening to the soothing song, a conversation I was having with a friend online represented empty feeling-filler No.2. Like I blogged a couple of months ago, at times when we are called into 'action', to be there for someone else, we fill our own emptiness and sometimes, in God's special time and way, we are presented with a way to help ourselves too by helping someone else. It really helped me as a reminder, this conversation and also the video, that there are other things in life that need addressing. I was glad to be of help to my friend. I enjoy helping others and just being a friend to lean on, a listening ear in times of trouble. I'm glad I was trusted enough to be told of the situation that was bothering my friend.
So as my night, or should I say, day, comes to an end, I keep reminding myself to ask, "...and what about you? How are you? Are you doing alright? Can I help?" I'm quite tired, I hope I make some sense in this entry :) Now to write that paper for the newsletter...

Chasing sunsets
It's frustrating a lot of the times when I drive or walk around and see beautiful skies to take photographs, only to be hindered by a good place to take it! *grumble* Since the first time I photo-blogged on skies and nature, I have yet to stop taking photographs of trees, skies, clouds, sunsets etc. I was blessed to view a beautiful sunset that these 2 photographs do not justify due to where I was at that time. My eyes did have the opportunity to catch a brief glance though. It was beautiful. I wish I had caught it on camera. Darn.
Bringing hopeful joy
*Originally from 'The Waiting Room'*
To round off a wonderful Sunday, BLC-ians, in greater force, flocked to Rumah Hope, a home for abused and abandoned children, for a Christmas party organized by Rev. Augustine Mutusamy. The buzz in the Good Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church was electric to say the least. The kids there were up and jumping, bubbling with enthusiasm and generated more energy than us adults! :) I'm not gonna blog here saying the usual things people say after a 'feel good' experience. However, I must say after observing some of these children, that they were very very mature kids. There were those among them who had this certain glow about them, a certain look or talk. It was just amazing to see that in them at that age. Made me feel proud of them even! This one was truly for the children. Hope, we did not have to bring. These children have that in them, along with other great attributes. What we as a church were thankful to be given the opportunity to give back to them was - JOY. Amen to that.
BLC goof-offs and our very own Indiana Santa! ;)
BLC-ian Indiana Joo, our Santa for the Xmas season, bringing out smiles and instilling excitement all around!
The boys couldn't wait for what was in store for them.
Neither could the girls!
Kar Kit and his fellow chaps.
BLC's very own kiddies - Kirsten and Adam joining in the fun with the Hope kids.

Christmas Caroling @ MPH Midvalley
*Originally posted on 'The Waiting Room'
BLC was invited by MPH to carol at 2 of their outlets - Midvalley last Sunday and Bangsar Village this coming Sunday. It was a very nice gesture and a wonderful opportunity for BLC to go out in the open and sing carols in public, at a place where people are more concerned about earthly desires and materials. Although traffic on Sundays are chaotic and nearly hindered 2 BLC-ians from joining the caroling, the show did go on just 15 mins later than scheduled :) The response was good and it was nice to see all those practices we put in bear fruit! Portions of the curious watching crowd responded by singing along, a few clapped but the most important thing was the seed we planted that evening. We pray God will sow that seed. Here are some of the better photos from that evening (my camera was not set at the right ISO, so the pics taken by the photographer were a lil blur safe for these few).
This is the best picture I have from that evening, Kirsten, daughter of our resident Aussies, the Berrys, leading our caroling and actions.
BLC-ians in action! :)
Spreading the joy and true Christmas spirit!
Me and James nearly missed it! *phew* We made it just on time. Rev. Sivin led us that evening, and led us well he did! ;)

Back, stop, move forward
Man...it's been almost 2 weeks since my last blog entry. It's been quiet here but can't really say the same about my life though. I was away for 3 days last week at Ipoh on a video shoot with James hence not blogging last week and since I came back during that weekend, I haven't really had anything that really made me want to blog. Well, alright, I did have more than enough happening in my life to blog about but I either didn't feel like it or didn't make the time to ;)
In summary, I guess the time was apt for a few things as my photos illustrate: to STOP, REFLECT (the photo of me and James is a reflection off a elevator door), LEARN, LISTEN and OBEY, and finally, to MOVE ON from there.
Safe to say, there were some things not going right last week. Well, all seemed well but as always, negativity of any sort just seems to creep in. Had to take it in stride as always, although James bugged me to talk to him about it. We didn't get down to that, but appreciated his friendship and concern. The good thing is, I promised i'd be fine and I was after.
The point is, we're sometimes pulled back to Him for something(s); sometimes the nice and loving way and sometimes, the hard way. I could honestly feel that it was a time God was calling me to stop, reflect, think, listen, obey and move on. Things were a lil rough to begin the week, felt kinda lost, empty and jaded. Didn't take much to fill me back to half tank again and I must say after another shoot on Monday; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have been very fruitful, fulfilling, productive and fun.
So back at full tank, with the new year looming, God's plans panning out gradually, some things going right, loose ends being tied up, plans for the new year being mapped out...my bags are packed, it's almost time to move on towards another level :)
