More Than Meets The Eye

Boy oh boy oh boy!!! Since I was a kid, I've loved Transformers with all my heart. Today, I still have the entire original first generation cartoon series on tape, along with the Japanese Masterforce and Victory series as well. I was one of the thousands of boys who, yes admittedly, cried when I watched Optimus Prime, my all-time hero, die in the original animated Transformers movie.

When I learnt that they were going to make a real-life Transformers movie, I said to myself, "no way...". Oh yes way alright! But when I found out that Michael Bay was directing the film, I thought, "ok, the guy did The Rock and I loved that movie". Most people, especially big fans of Transformers hated the choice made by Steven Spielberg, to hand the helm to Michael Bay. I too had a feeling he might screw the movie up, seeing that he didn't know nuts about Transformers or cared for it.

Leading up the movie, I was utterly disappointed with the first teaser trailer released. I was wondering, "what's up with this whole stupid Mars thing and a glimpse of an ugly robot that looked more like a skeletal alien than a Transformer?!". However, when I saw the extended trailer, and saw some pics online, I was hopeful, as it began to look impressive.

Still, I wasn't please that some of the characters (the Decepticons at least), were brand new to me, and the robots didn't take their G1 cartoon forms. (Although I understand Michael Bay's reasoning for giving them new looks).

All that negativity didn't stop me from the anxiousness and anticipation of the 5 year old in me leading up to tonight when I watched the movie. I was absolutely blown away! I mean, damn!! The movie was super! Absolutely stunning visuals! It's 2 hours and 23 minutes of non-stop action and mayhem. Lots of old-school original G1 Transformers elements were thrown in, thankfully. I managed to spot quite a few.

I came away a fully satisfied fan, and like many across the world, "sorry Michael Bay, you did a great job with the film after all. We still may not like you all that much, but good job and I hope that after this movie is super well received (and it will be!), we can look forward to a Transformers Movie 2, because it was quite obvious there was room for it!"

Knocking on the door

Gosh, time surely flies by!

Yes yes yes...I've been asked a few times again why I have yet to update this blog. Honestly? I don't really have a definite answer although a few reasons do spring to mind:

1. Perhaps the whole blogging thing has past me now?
2. Not being a freelancer anymore since last March has perhaps meant I have more of a life now? :D
3. It's gotten really busy since last March. There were times where I may have wanted to write but simply couldn't find the energy to want to sit on the computer and update a web log. I spent those times doing other meaningful things ;)

Little treats

It's a wonderful feeling everytime I get to hear Little E call me 'Godpapa', which is still a rarity. I think I've only heard her call me that twice, the 2nd time was on Sunday.

For months now, it's been difficult to get near her or to carry her or to hug her. But she's been more receptive of late, maybe she's grown a bit more and thanks to Sivin and May Chin's 'training', perhaps as she grows she knows who I am even more now :)

I helped her bring that big pillow to her little hang out place she created for herself in church, and we both hopped onto it (ok, she hopped; I just laid down :P) and she put the biggest smile on my face when she looked at me in the eye and said, "Godpapa..". It was a nice half-a-day spent with her..

Forward again..

Another year has gone by (can't stand that phrase sometimes), and it's been really quick. I've worked full-time again for a year now, and traveled lots as a result, and 2007 has begun with a bang and doesn't look like letting up till at least July! I pray my body holds up :/

Was hopeful that I may get some rest during the CNY break, and I did get it, for a bit. Good to see dad and his family - I hadn't seen him for a longgggg time and the kids have really grown in just one year. I'm getting older. Sigh...

Wake Me Up

Much has happened in one year. Much has changed, has been learnt and some have even been lost while there were some gains too. Will this space continue to churn out posts in future? Shouldn't be a doubt. There were thoughts of revamping it a bit, but I procrastinate, and I get lazy when it comes to doing stuff sometimes :) This will have to do for now. For now, this is the return. For now..

Move

Quite bummed out that I lost all the voice messages that I have been re-saving to store in my handphone voice message mailbox for months. Sigh..they were important to me.

Contemplating a change of 'space'. I might move this blog to a new place, or change the structure and look to this one that I've had for 2 years. WATCH THIS SPACE for prior notice if I do do something drastic! ;)

Life's moving on. Some things are changing. The fasting month is moving along slowly, but will be hectic come November & December; lots of physical strain from climbing mountains.

Would love a holiday the 2nd half of October, but some circumstances are causing changes to these plans.

Preparing for a great deal of emptiness coming soon..

Been looking around others' blogs and seen some very nice photographs. Makes me feel like decorating here as well :)
