Prayers for Sara

I know it has been quite a while since I have posted, ahem, but I wanted to share about my precious friend, Sara to my tiny little corner of the blogosphere.

I met Sara back in 1996 at Lipscomb University. We were in the same club (which she was the chaplain of for two years I believe) and we lived in the same dorm for a while as well. Sara even served in our wedding in December of 2000. We go to church with the Walker family, too. As I told Sara the other week, because of the trials that she is enduring at the present time, hundreds and thousands of people are able to see what a woman of faith and child of God that she is - and has been since I met her 14 years ago. Her faith and trust remain constant - God is just using precious, quiet Sara to live her faith "out loud" so that we may be all encouraged.

To condense her story, she gave birth to Anna Elizabeth in December 2010, who was stillborn. In January she began having some pains and just recently was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to her liver. She begins chemotherapy next week. You can read about her full story at her Caring Bridge site that was launched just today. Please visit her, sign in her guestbook and encourage her and add her and her precious family to your prayer list.

God is using Sara mightily, and can't wait to witness His miracles to heal her. Please join me in praying for my sweet friend and sister in Christ, Sara, her husband Brian, and her two sons, Camden (5) and Scott (3).

"Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." Eph 3:30

Holiday World 2010

Immediately after we went camping with Chad and Shelly, we headed up to Indiana to Holiday World to camp for a few days with Noni and Dandy and Kathryn, Andrew and Luke. We camped at Lincoln State Park, just five minutes away from Holiday World. We loved the campground, loved Holiday World and would love to make this an annual get-away! The only picture I actually took AT the campground . . . Luke and Carolina were about to go on a bike ride. :)
They LOVED the kiddie rides!
Think she was excited? ;)
And a very serious, intense Lawton!
Dandy, Noni and Sister (driving) ha!

The attendant kept telling them "Keep your hands out of the water!" Ha! I wonder how many times they have to say that to two year olds a day?!?
We also spent the latter half of two days in the Splashin' Safari Water Park attached to Holiday World, but for obvious reasons I don't have any pictures of that time. . .
Here we are (minus Kathryn, Andrew and Luke) at the end of a fun filled busy two days!
And this picture pretty much sums it all up . . . a nasty, sweaty, sticky, sun-screened exhausted no nap girl!
I love this picture! ha! Shows my green-eyed "why-are-you-laughing-at-me-and-taking-my-picture" girl. ;)
Lawton can't even muster a smile at this point . . . Oh, and I might add - we rode The Voyage right before closing on the second day - the BEST roller coaster I have ever ridden!
The next day on our way home, we stopped and looked around Lincoln State Park at Lincoln's Boyhood home.
Look how little they are! :)
Sums her up pretty good . . .
They had a living, historical farm, similar to LBL. The kids were allowed to feed the cows from the garden. :)

And if you weren't sure if Sis has personality, this says it all! :) She loved the "show-der" ride on Dandy!

Tubing for the first time!

In June we went camping for a couple of days with our friends Chad and Shelly and they brought along a boat for some new experiences to our usual camping fun! Here is Chad at the helm. . . Shelly, (or should I say Carolina) takes a turn!

My life jacket was huge . . . I felt like the the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man!

Sharing a little Daddy-Daughter moment on the boat . . .

Carolina LOVED tubing and especially liked going as fast as possible! She has been a dare devil since the beginning!

Land Between the Lakes

I really do want to try and catch up . . . I know if I don't I will regret it, especially if I ever print my blog . . . so maybe this week I will catch up and blog our terrific, busy summer! :)

Back in May Lawton and I tagged along with the second graders from Chad's school and went on their three day, two night trip to Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. Even though he had only turned five just weeks before, he jumped right in and hung with the second graders. So much fun!

Here we are at the Homeplace, a living historical farm. Very interesting!
Here is the small group we were with . . . notice little guy in the middle. ;)
All the kids get to have a supervised, planned pillow fight. What second grader wouldn't love to have a pillow fight with their principal? See Chad in the midst of the controlled chaos?
Lawton thought he was big time participating in his first pillow fight ever!
Roasting marshmallows in the fireplace . . .
A game of Simon Says - Lawton in the blue coat and camouflage pants :)
We went creek stomping and ended up getting very wet. Some of the kids were basically swimming in the creek and having the time of their lives! Didn't get one of those pictures, though!

Doin' a little pole fishing!
At the pond study they were trying to catch tadpoles and salamanders and other things I sadly can't remember now.
There was something alive in there!

So glad the second grade teachers let us tag along on their field trip. :) Chad has gone with them the past several years and wanted to let Lawton in on the fun this year. So fun!

Carolina turns 2! (a few months ago . . .)

Well, a few people have fussed at me about not updating the blog. I guess the only few that actually check it. . .
So, for the three of you who have asked - here are a few posts. (Hopefully more will come soon - I really do want to update since this has become my "scrapbook". :)

Carolina turned two in May!! We had a small family party at the house - Minnie Mouse themed. :) We also just ordered pizza since she loves pizza (and Lawton had a game that afternoon!)

Can you see her excitement with her new dress up items? Emily couldn't resist dress up shoes and some "Lella" (Cinderella) items for her. ;)

She is such a GIRL! :)
Luke and Carolina!
Emily made her adorable cake once again. Amazing!

It ended up being a chilly May night!
