Sink or swim

I got an early birthday present in the mail today: yeeey!
It's a 'brainteaser puzzle' called sink or swim. The aim is to move the pieces around to get the boy in the red buoy to the steps on the side of the pool so that he can get out. It's full of absolutely adorable little figures and it's definitely not as easy as it looks at first sight!

Two birds who love fabric

Screen shots of selected fabrics on the amazing Hawthorne Threads website.

Mum sent me this link today - there are so many beautiful fabrics there; I cannot get over it!

And I love how you can find fabrics that would go well with the one you chose, or ones that have similar tones... so clever, so pretty and... quite affordable too! Yey!

Garlands and apple-cinamon muffins

Here is a little peek at some of the garlands I made this weekend as well as of the yummy muffins that I baked today for our date with the lovely Teresa and Matilda. I was a bit anxious as I had never tried the recipe before (and some of the ingredients sounded funny; oil? I usually use butter when I bake), but they were perfect!
Find the recipe here (follow the US measurements, not the metric ones - it gave me crazy amounts for the crumble! I managed to balance the mountain of butter and save the day (thanks to my dad's recipe) but now we have enough crumble for the rest of the month!).

Songs of the day (which, as Mart just noticed, have surprisingly similar beginnings):
- Ciao Bella, Rose
- Fake Empire, The National

Colourful spots

I've been punching paper today... lots of colours and lots and lots of spots! I will show you what I made with them tomorrow.

Other activities of the day included a delicious brunch, watching an episode of Project Runway (we are pretty addicted) and tonight, going to see A Single Man - it was great!

On its way to Switzerland

Before spending hours cleaning this afternoon, we quickly popped downtown to post this packet and shop a little. We came home with some great clothes and groceries for delicious meals for the whole weekend.

The packet is now on its way to Switzerland and will soon arrive to little Samuel and his proud parents. I wish I could have packed myself in there too in order to join the whole family for the Easter gathering tomorrow...

My kangaroo

I brought back a yellow kangaroo to keep me warm, all the way from Australia. I know it's pretty touristy and a bit tacky (especially because it's a Ken Done) but... I love it!

Happy colour spots

Wonderfully amazing news of the day: my cousin gave birth to a little boy named Samuel - I'm so thrilled!! I can't wait to go back home to see everyone again, and meet the new addition to our big family!

The garland is for Rahel, a friend from work who will have her birthday tomorrow.
