A night at the tennis

Never allow anyone to take a photo of you with a harsh flash, especially after you just spent a day in 43 centrigrade heat. Yes, here's me at the Australian Open at a night match, now finally in air conditioning. The roof was closed due to the extreme heat rule and no tennis was played this day except in the two arenas with roofs due to the heat, until 8.30pm when a cool change finally came through. We walked out after a while watching 2 female teenage robot millionaries playing and walked into the cool change. What a relief that was.

Roger Federer practising

Here's a pic taken by me of Federer practising with Tony Roach at the Aus Open. Do you think I could get any closer. No way. Nearly twisted my ankle getting where I did, as it was. You can see my article so far on the Australian Open by clicking the title link.

Attending the Australian Open

Had a hot day at the tennis today, but it is still worth going. It feels pretty amazing being so close to multi-millionares. But to be honest they don't look it. They look like they just play tennis. Some are really good and they stand out and they win grand slams. I got this picture of Roddick while he was serving. He really does serve very fast. Unfortunately he had a rather loud American fan club there, which he doesn't need. He got a big clap as he entered the court. He's pretty popular.

Mark Philippoussis

Mark Philippoussis is losing yet again at the Australian Open. He's had 3 knee reconstructions and numerous other injuries. He's always been the most exciting male player for me. But his friend in Australia is Alan Jones, a right-wing radio commentator. How do we separate out sport from politics? I watch him play because he was once great, but I probably hate the man.

I'm writing up the Australian tennis Open.
