We woke up early on Memorial Day and loaded up the bikes for a fun family bike ride. The sky was overcast, but not too menacing and even though the forecast called for rain; we were hopeful we could ride before the clouds burst. We made it to the Greenway and unloaded the bikes. We hopped on and started up the trail. We stopped and got some pictures of an awesome turtle making it's way somewhere very slowly even though he had racing numbers on his shell!! :) We continued on and that's when the thunder shook the sky and the clouds burst open and out poured buckets and buckets of rain!! I thought it was AWESOME!! It was actually quite refreshing, seeing as how it's horribly hot and humid here. The rain soaked us and the breeze cooled us. It was nice... Well, for me, it was nice! The kids thought otherwise. We rode about 2 miles and then headed back for the car. It was definitely memorable! What could be better than making fun memories together?
We had hoped to go visit the cemetary like we do each year, but the rain never let up and we didn't make it. We will go sometime soon though, to remember. It's so important to remember. We're so blessed that so many men and women have given their lives for our freedom and for freedom around the world. Remember them. Remember their sacrifice and never forget it!
