Horseshoe Beach, FL

I think this little police car is all they will need in this small town.

Here is where we bought 5 pounds of shrimp for $20. The shrimp are from Apalachacola, FL.

This oak tree is estimated to be 300 years old. We ate at the cafe behind it and had the best shrimp dinner right here on the Gulf of Mexico.

Saint George, Utah

This is where the owner of the RV park lives. It is quite a house and just up the hill from where we stayed. Here is the road into the park looking down on the town. We did not get any pictures of our cute little neices that live here. I am going to have to take some of my own pictures and not leave it up to Alan. We went to Michael's baseball game which he won.

We had a gorgeous view of palms and red rock but it was a little bit of a tight fit. Alan did great as he always does and parked it like a champ.
I think we were the biggest trailer in the park. We didn't get pictures of Cedar City probably because it snowed and somebody was really bummed out. We are home now and getting ready for our Caribbean Cruise. Hope to have some pictures for you of that. Adios for now.

AmariLLo, Texas

In AmariLLo (the L's are boots) we went to the Big Texan where if you eat the 72 oz. steak plus all the fixins in one hour you get it free. There were people trying to do it. The record is 8 minutes.

Alan is having the chicken fried steak and I had chicken fried chicken. They have live entertainment every night and everybody is dressed in western wear. It is very popular even with the locals. The food was very good and it was fun! See the little Texas flag in the jalapeno?

Thackerville, Oklahoma

This is a nice site. All cemented with a picnic table, grill, and some grass.

Here is the office. It was open from 7 am until 11 pm.

You can see the big Winstar casino behind us. It has 8 cities represented in there: New York, Cairo, Vienna, Madrid, Beijing, Vienna, London, and Paris. We broke even. It is just over the Texas line.

Granbury Courthouse

This is the center of Granbury, Texas. Sorry, but again we have no pictures of our great friends that showed us such amazing Texas hospitality. We will never forget you Gary & Carole and Meg & Bill.

Granbury, Texas

They are really into historic preservation here. Almost all the buildings around the town center were on the historic register. This is where Jesse James is buried. He was moved here in 1951 but he was killed in 1882.

This red cardinal posed for Alan and I'm glad he did. It was the first one I have ever seen. Just Beautiful!

Midland, Texas

This was the home of George H W & Barbara Bush in Midland, TX. The kitchen is cute and brought back lots of memories from the 50's. They tried to recreate it from pictures that they had of the house.

Barbara Bush was very happy with these curtains as they were very close to what she had made back in the 50's. You can see into the sun porch.

The wood is beautiful, but had been sheet-rocked over and painted. They spent like a half million dollars restoring it to this knotty pine. This wood was in W's bedroom, too. They had his Boy Scout & Roy Roger's Rider Club uniforms on the bed.

It is a 3 bedroom, one bath home with a sun porch and built in 1939.

The home has been restored to the original color and as close to when the Bushes lived there. They bought it in 1951 for $9,000.

Tucson, Arizona

This is downtown Tucson.
This cathedral was beautiful!
Here is closer view. We had lunch at a cute place, Mi Nidito (My little nest). It was really good food! The mailman told us a president had eaten there. Not the current president, so Alan said, "You mean W"? He said yes, so we went. Alan was horrified to discover it was Clinton and not Busch. It was funny, but good.

More Big Bay Sites

I loved this building on the left. The top of it looks like the head of a phillips screw driver. Really cool office building.

Here are a bunch of Navy Hornets in for repairs.
This is a hospital ship that carries 1,000 beds.

This is the USS John Stennis just coming into port. The little pegs are sailors standing all the way around the deck. It carries over 5,000 men and is nuclear powered.

The San Diego Bay Cruise

This is a replica of the first America's Cup winner. I like the cut of their jib.
Under the Coronado Bridge

Downtown buildings are beautiful!

This is a car hauler based out of London going under the Coronado Bridge.

San Diego

This is San Diego University from Ricky and Renee's house.

This is Tammy, Ricky, and Rick with the granddog, Rain. Check out the blooming hedge of Jade plants. Awesome!

Slab City

Slab City is just up the road from Salvation Mtn. It was originally built by the Army to use as a base but was never used. It is now inhabited by
trailers and motorhomes from Thunderdome I believe.

Here is another Mad Max vehicle at Slab City. We did see a license plate from Sheridan, WY. I think it was good for me to see this....I am much more thankful for what I have.
How would you like to sit a spell in this easy chair? All I could say was WOW!

This is inside one of the rooms. Oh yeah, this has been declared a national folk art treasure.

Here is Leonard Knight, the man that is responsible for this by turning his life over to God. He is holding the plague that Barbara Boxer gave him declaring this a protected site.

We have been to the Mountain!

This is a work in progess, but it is all done with donated paint and volunteers.
This is the main attraction....the salvation mountain. It has taken 50 years to get all this done.

We were told that we had to go see it so we did. Just turn at this sign.

Cabbage Patch

We are still amazed to see these fields in Yuma. Looks like these cabbages are ready to be picked. It was in the upper 70's today and supposed to be in the 80's for the next few days. We will be headed to the pool again. Went to Mexico yesterday. Living the dream!

Yuma, AZ Where the sun spends the winter!

Here is Alan bringing 6 heads of free iceberg lettuce home. We shared with our new Canadian friends, Barry & Ken. It was so good in the salad we had.

These fields are beautiful. We watched them harvest fennel and lettuce. They gave us some fresh cauliflower, too. We saw all kinds of spinach, celery, and red & green leaf lettuce. It is like a huge garden. The cauliflower was delicious raw & cooked with cheese sauce.
