We Need a Greenhouse

Two nights in a row an animal attacked our plants. The second night they smashed and shredded the little peat pots. The destroyer didn't eat anything, it just destroyed. And it probably laughed while it worked.

Drink, drink, drink, drink!

Father's Day!

For Father's Day Scott said all he wanted was chocolate...so the kids and I made him this candy bar card. In case you can't read it from the picture, this is the message:

Happy Father's Day! Dad, you are "Rolls" of fun to be with. We "Burst" with "Joy" when you come home! You're a real "Lifesaver" and we are completely "Satisfied" with our "100 Grand" Dad! We "Skored" when we were sent to you. We LOVE you to "Pieces." With lots of hugs and "Kisses", Love your "Sugar Babies"

Gross!

Last week I was going through our 72 hour kit and updating it for hurricane season. Most of the food expired in 2005. Check out this package of dried appricots. Yes, those black things you can see through the clear part of the plastic are the nasty apricots. I am happy to say that we are prepared for hurricanes or anything else that comes our way now.

The House in June

The house looks blue, but it's dark gray. The garage is earthy red.

You know you're a redneck if....

I think we've lived in FL too long, I think I'm becoming a southern redneck. The other day we ran into Walmart for a minute to pick up some allergy medicine. On the way back to the truck outside, Lisa saw the Little Tykes Toy House that was set up for sell and asked if she could play in it. So I let her play in the "floor model" for about 5 minutes. I got some pretty interesting looks from some of the people walking and driving by.

Hiking in Zion

This picture is of the kids and their friends shortly before Daryl had to carry Beck and Macie because they couldn't handle the heat.

It's snowing

We spent the weekend in St. George and Zion. It was over 100 F. We're glad to be back to some good weather. It's snowing.

Kids say the darndest things...

Yesterday after church Eric was taking a nap, Lisa was eating her lunch and Scott and I were talking about some random thing that had happened at church. All of a sudden Lisa pipes up and says very matter-of-factly, "Grandma Judy uses paper towels on her eye"

It was so funny, we totally started dying of laughter. She was looking at us like, what is wrong with you guys?

Anyway, I thought I would share that - I thought Daryl would especially appreciate that little inside joke.

Grandma and Grandpa in Florida

We had some good visits with Grandma and Grandpa while they were here in Florida. We're glad that Grandpa's back surgery went so well. It was fun to have Jesse's family come down for Sunday dinner too.

Take me out to the ball game

On Saturday we went to a baseball game. Lisa loves the song "Take me out to the ballgame" and was singing right along during the 7th inning stretch. She also thought it was pretty cool to eat nuts and just leave the shells on the ground. Eric enjoyed it because of course a ball was involved.

I just thought these last two pictures were funny. Eric loves shoes and he got a hold of Lisa's Crocs. He loves wearing them around and doesn't care that they are pink. One day he was wearing her pink shoes, carrying a purple purse and was wearing her new tiara. A picture any father would have been proud of - but of course I couldn't get to the camera. In the other picture Lisa said she was hiding under a rock and wanted me to take a picture so she could show Dad.

Lisa's Birthday

Last Friday was Lisa's 3rd birthday. (I can't believe it!) She wanted a ladybug birthday cake, so I attempted one. I put tons of red food coloring in the frosting, but could only get it dark pink - oh well. She had a fun time and was instructing Scott on the "proper order" of events at a birthday party. She thinks she's an expert from going to all of her friends party's. One of our friends brought over some balloons and Eric yells "ball" every time he sees one or even thinks about one. I think they might have to mysteriously disappear one of these nights.

Funny 3-year-old girls

An actual conversation I heard between Macie and her friend Emily...

E: What's in your cheeks?
M: I don't know what you're talking about.
E: I said, what's inside your cheeks?
M: Bones.
E: Also there is squishy stuff.
M: Yeah. And there's a tunnel from your nose to your cheeks. That's how you swallow yogurt.
E: Oh. Where do the boogers come from?
M: There's a tunnel in your nose for boogers.
E: Do the boogers live in your forehead?
M: Um, yeah, I think so.
E: Let's go play.
M: Okay.

Sad day...

Yesterday was a pretty sad day around here - we sold our boat. We decided if we are going to move we need to sell it, and we anticipated it would take a while to sell especially with the bad economy. So I put it on Craigslist Monday afternoon expecting to be able to go boating most of the summer. To our surprise we were getting a lot of phone calls and emails about it. On Tuesday afternoon a guy called and said he was pretty sure he wanted it and he'd be by Wednesday morning to take a closer look at it and he'd bring cash if that was okay. Well needless to say, we have an empty garage now. When they were driving away Lisa said, "I'm going to miss our boat" I agree!

Book club

For Beck's book club this month we read "My Father's Dragon". At the book club we did all the tricks Elmer did to the animals. This is everyone sucking a lollipop that was attached to a crocodile (our green sled). Sound weird? Read the book--everyone loved it. Macie is wearing a yellow shirt and Beck is in army pants.
