Gear Cake
This is Hudson's third birthday cake. He had a robot themed party and I went with gears because they were on his invitation. I ran out of time decorating the cake, so only the front half is done... I also forgot to take a picture until I had already cut half of the top layer off. Hellllllooooooo second child!! :)

Carnival Cupcakes
I did a joint birthday party for my sons with a carnival theme. They each had their own cakes - Star Wars for my soon to be 6 year old...
...and Wow Wow Wubbzy for my two year. (He had a hard time keeping his fingers out of the icing on his cake- notice the smudged green polka dot...) :)

Aliens, Planets and Craters...Oh My!
This is my son's 5th birthday cake. He wanted an alien/outer space/rocket themed party, so this is what I came up with. The cake had to travel with us 45 minutes away, so I didn't want it to be too complicated and have more of a chance for decorations to fall off. The best part was the inside of the cake. I wanted to do something really fun and unexpected, so I made the inside rainbow and it was a hit.
Cake is covered in fondant with fondant alien and letters. Border is buttercream.

Aaarrrggghhh Matey!
Fourth birthday cake for a sweet friend's little boy. They were doing a pirate theme and while looking for cake ideas, I found a similar cake online and decided to replicate it. Chocolate cake with caramel filling, covered in fondant. The hook topper, coins, mini treasure chest and parrot are all gumpaste. I also made 3 dozen cupcakes of "Pirate's Blood"(or red velvet for us regular folks) with cream cheese icing. The pirate cupcake toppers are gummy candy.

Down at the Barnyard
Third birthday cake for a friend's little boy. The party had a barnyard theme and the birthday boy loves green tractors, so his mom found one and asked for it to be incorporated on the cake. The cake is chocolate with caramel filling. The barn is made of cake covered in fondant. The animals and feed bag are gumpaste. The fence posts are fondant.

Monkey Cake
This was my son's first birthday cake. We went with a monkey theme. The large cake is a 6" and 8" "tuxedo cake" (alternate layers of chocolate fudge cake and white cake) with white chocolate truffle filling. This was the first time I had made this recipe and it was wonderful. The cakes are covered in fondant with fondant polka dots. The monkeys and name are gumpaste.
The smash cake was copied from his napkin.

Elephant Baby Shower Cake
This cake was for a baby shower. The nursery had the following scheme:
The hostesses picked out this cake. Pink Cake Box is one of my favorite cake websites because their work is very clean and simple. I replicated their cake (minus the bow on the top tier), but changing the colors to match the shower/nursery. Here is my version:

Frosty Cake
Every year we have a ladies Christmas party and do a gift exchange. Everyone brings a finger food and I hadn't made a cake in a while, so I decided to make one for the party. Frosty is chocolate cake with caramel filling. The carrot nose, coal eyes and mouth and ear muff headband are all fondant. I used Ding Dongs for the earmuffs. This was a little bit thrown together because it was just for fun, but I'm still pleased with how cute it came out!

Las Vegas/Viper Cake
A very nice man that works for my husband requested a cake for his wife's birthday. They used to go on trips to Las Vegas in their Viper and it was always a fond memory for them. That's about all the direction he gave me, so here's what I came up with:

The dice, poker chips and Vegas sign are all gumpaste. I bought the cars at Wal-Mart (I wasn't about to try to make a Viper!)
This was a fun one!
