Creative freedom ....

I had a few daylight hours today in a quiet,
child-free,
husband-less,
no tv house,
with washing folded ...
... a wonderful time to restore some creative freedom!I listened to LOUD music, ate lollies (without needing to hide them) & drank red cordial to my heart's content .... if you know me well
... I don't really ever do any of those things!I got to & found these little pieces in my scrap box just waiting to be sewn together!
All pebbled, hand stitched & stretched!All in one sitting .... unheard of!

I am so happy to report that most of the "i.spies"
are now on their way finally to almost all the "players"

... it was a great game
... win-win all the way around the globe!

Time for Tea!

HST's

How to ... its easy!

Step 1:
Cut x1 background fabric
&
Cut x1 Red/Aqua fabric
Cut these @4.5 inches square
Rule a diagonal pencil line from one corner to the other
@ 45 degrees!
Step 2:
Sew x2 seams ...
right sides facing together
one 1/4" on each side of the pencil line... like this!
Step 3:
Use your ruler & rotary blade to cut along the pencil line... like this!
Step 4:

Iron seam towards red/aqua fabric &
Trim the 'ears' off ... ... like this!
Your finished HST block should be 4" square!

I've been sanding ....

I have the cutest lot ...
Little shelf - Made by my Dad when he was in high school
& it was always part of my bedroom furniture growing up
... has been bright yellow or green or purple at different times!
Kids sized table - from our Church, both my Dad & I would have used ...
1st little Chair - From our Church ... in past lives has been green & blues
& I must say I kind of like it like that!2nd Chair - Op shop find by my Mum ... it was calling her name!
Currently multi-coloured ... about to be painted Red ... or Aqua
...
I have finished the sanding on the most part
... now I need to decide which pieces
will be Red & which will be a soft Aqua
... this colour combination has turned up before somewhere!?
All to be part of my work in progress ...

I decided to add another layer to last year's blocks swap blocks
... all 104 of them!
That's 416 more strips of purple & green fabric ... all from my stash .... I only just had enough!
Now I will have x10 rows wide & high ...
= 100 which will make a King sized quilt ...
I will get to & create a layout soon!

Spontaneously ....

..... last Sunday,
the little one & I decided to jump on a plane,

Getting back in the groove baby!

We've had a lovely summer back & forward up the river ...
Not alot of sewing done using a machine ...
so lovely husband gave me some child-free,
a quiet home & relaxed space on the weekend
... ahh a little slice of creative bliss
... mostly got my groove back!
This little skinny stack of coins
became a table/bed runner 2metres long!
Yay ... started & finished in the one session
... that nearly never happens with me!

Purple rain ...

Little crib sized quilt I finally finished
for a little baby girl born 6 weeks ago!
I know ... it was only the binding ...

.... its raining here tonight .... Its been so long since we've had the chance to snuggle up in bed & listen to the rain on the roof! Wonderful music!
Long suffering is our garden .... in this drought of ours its having a rare water!

Tetris

I have always loved the game Tetris!
It appeals to my spatial skills too!
I'd love to have these shelves for a play space ...
...to be able to store
& display
& arrange
& play like big blocks
& rearrange again
& to understand space & shape
.... oh what fun we'd have ...
...better find a smaller scale version for now!
