Ever since our second Christmas as a married couple, we have trusted our tree purchase to Lowes. This year wasn't any different. I love being able to spend maybe 10 minutes looking at a few and coming home with a perfect tree. I think this years was our best yet. Shane loved being able to help decorate the tree this year. He was the director as he told Ken where to hang each ornament. Of course I always get the lucky job of stringing the lights. This year we also had a train to set up at the base of the tree. This is tradition in Ken's family and finishes the tree off beautifully.

Getting Ready for Christmas

I know, I know
I realize it has been a very long time since I lasted updated our blog, and after much nagging from my husband and friends, I decided to finally do something about it. I apologize that this may be along post since there is much to catch up on. We spent Thanksgiving in Sacramento this year. We had a lot of fun with all the siblings there. Ken and I were even able to get away for a few days. Shane had a great time with his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Auntie Aimee even took him out for ice cream. It was the first time his has had his own bowl.
Thanksgiving day we atempted to take family pictures, both for our Christmas cards and for Ken's parents. It was a very unsuccessful all around. Out of all the pictures the photographer took for Ken's parents, I heard only one turned out. We didn't have much luck trying to take one of just the three of us either. Here are some of the atempts.

Overall it was a great trip. Thanks to Ken's parents, we were able to bring home a new car and we couldn't have asked for a more well behaved child on the ride home.

Yea!!!!! Disneyland
Shane and I went to Disneyland with some friends on October 29th. It was the other little boy's first time and he really wanted to see Mickey of course. So we waited in Toontown so we could meet Mickey and take pictures. We hadn't done this since the first time we took Shane to Disneyland back in March. Shane was totally different around Mickey this time around. He was joking around with him and pretending to eat his nose. It was pretty funny.

Pumpkin Time

One day we went to a pumpkin patch for a little while. It was cute, set up with lots of little picture spots. Shane was being such a stinker. He usually gives cheesy poses for the camera, but on this day he refused to look at the camera and smile, or even sit still long enough to get a decent picture in front of any of the props. Oh well, life with a two year old I guess.

October Update

I can't believe it has been over a month since the last post. Here is an update on life. We spent conferenc weekend in Sacramento. Shane had such a good time. We went to his aunt Laura's powder puff game, the zoo, a pumkin patch and spent a lot of time playing at home. It was a great visit.

One Year Older and Hopefully Wiser

I celebrated my 27th birthday on the 24th. My wonderful visiting teacher volunteered to watch Shane so Ken and I could go out. We enjoyed a peaceful dinner with some friends and an early return home. Its funny, the older I get, the less I care about my own birthday. I was way more concerned with Shane having a good birthday. Its pretty ridiculous considering the fact that he is only two and will more than likely not remember it at all. Oh well, I guess that's part of motherhood.

Shane Turns 2

Shane turned 2 on September 13. It was a pretty mellow day that started with a pancake breakfast.
Then on September 20th, Ken, Shane, David and Luc went to a Padres game and rode the trolley over from Old Towne San Diego. The boys all had a blast!
We had Shane's Football party on Saturday the 22. Lots of firends were able to come despite the last minute change of venue, due to the rain.

Life's a Beach!
At the begining of summer Ken started coming home early on Fridays so we could take family trips to the beach. Shane was a little apprehensive at first, but after a few times, he couldn't get enough. He loves the water and when Ken helps him jump the waves. He also has shovels and buckets and loves to transport sand. I am a little sad that it has gotten too cold to go in the water now. Hopefully next summer will be just as enjoyable.
Shane and Daddy being silly.
Lots of hugs for Mom

M&M Marriage
Ken's younger brother Matt, married Meagan on August 11th, in the Portland, Oregon temple. We were lucky enough to be able to attend the sealing and reception in Oregon, as well as the open house in Sacramento a week later. Its always such a special experience to be able to attend a sealing and remember your own wedding day, as well witnessing an important event in a loved one's life.

Cinematic Debut
This summer Shane went to his first movie in the Theater. We went to see Ratatouille. I think he did pretty well for the first time. He thought it was so cool that he got to eat popcorn and treats. Here are some picture from after the movie.

I am not trying to brag or anything, but I was pretty proud of how this turned out.It was a gift I did for a baby shower and the first time I had attempted anything like this before.

Independence Day

Shane would purposely lay down in the sand so that it would cover him.
Shane was trying to surf like daddy.
Nap time in the hotel room after a long day of play.
Shane with Grandpa Harrison during the firework show.
We spent the 4th of July with Ken's family in Carlsbad. We were at the beach and the pool most of the day. In the evening we watched about three different fireworks shows. Luckily we were far enough away that we couldn't hear them, but just enjoy the beautiful show.

Disneyland aka "Mickey's House"

Back in May Ken's parents bought us season passes to Disneyland for a three day trip they had planned. We had so much fun those three days with the family, but we have also taken full adavantage of the fact that we got passes out of the deal. We have been back several times since then as Shane can't get enough. He has his favorite rides and gets so excited when he gets to go on them. He also loves getting to go up and hug the characters, especially when he got to meet Goofy. All he could talk about the next two days was how he got to touch his nose.

Let's Get This Started
So, after suggestions from several friends and an increasing lack of interest in Myspace, we decided to go for it and start a blog. We have had a busy summer, so there should be plenty of things for me to write about for a while. Hope you enjoy.
