Lucy's A Month Old!

I can't believe how time flies. Lucy will be five weeks old tomorrow. It seems like she's been part of our family for much longer. She's definitley getting cuter each and every day. Lately Neil and I think she looks a lot like Sam but when I look at these pictures she doesn't she looks more like Conner.2 days old

Lucy had to be on the bilibed two different times. As soon as she got off her levels went up. She had to get her heel poked a total of 10 times. I'm glad that's over with. She still looks yellow. There just hasn't been much sun lately to put her in.

A Rough Start

After five weeks, I feel like I am finally getting in a groove. Lucy is sleeping 5-6 hours at night which helps tremendously. I must say we had a rough start. Nursing was awful and it was so frustrating because with this being my fourth kid I should have the hang of it. All the nurses reassured me it's not me but the baby. I had to teach her what to do. Lucy was tongue tied and didn't latch on properly and so a doctor had to cut some skin underneath her tongue and that fixed the problem. The past weeks have been a blur and I've been out of it but Neil has made sure the boys have still gotten out and had some fun.

The boys visiting us in the hospital. They were so cute. They walked into the room so shy and not sure what to expect. The have been the sweetest and best brothers so far.

Now why would I put such an awful picture of myself up, do I remind you of the hunchback. This is to remind myself how much I hate hospitals. I can never sleep so this picture is on the day of my discharge. I had not slept for 3 days seriously. The night before I had Lucy I was so anxious I never slept and then on Friday I wasn't moved to my postpartum room until 11:30pm and with everyone coming to check on me meant no sleep so by Saturday I'd had it. I begged to be discharged but the doctors wouldn't hear it. I asked for a sleeping pill which allowed me to sleep for 3 hours and that's it. I was an exhausted emotional wreck on Sunday. Please give me my own bed. I don't know what it is about hospital beds but my back would just kill and I was so uncomfortable I could never sleep. I would get so annoyed at Neil over in the chair sawing logs. Like he can help he can sleep anywhere but it sure was frustrating listening to him at 3 in the morning.
Nana came a week after Lucy was born and had planned to stay for 6 weeks but her trip was cut short after 3 days when we got a call from Kelly that my dad had had a stroke and was in ICU. She left on the red eye that night. It was hard to have her leave but she was where she needed to be. The following week was a very emotional one but after 3 weeks in the hospital and a rehab center he is back at home and doing as good as can be expected. My dad was going to come out too for the blessing and stay for 3 weeks and work on some projects around the house but he weaseled his way out of that one. The reason it was hard to see my mom go is because I only get to see my parents once maybe twice a year and I had looked forward to being with them for several weeks. Of course I could have used the help but it was more the companionship I needed. My neighbors, friends and ward here have showed my family so much love and support and have helped more than I could have imagined. I'm so humbled by it all.
Presley is so happy to finally have a girl cousin!
I came home from Mutual one night to find this little bat flying around my house.
Neil took the boys to this awesome park and they stayed for 2 1/2 hours. They all needed to get out of the house.

Grandpa Hibbert and Neil took the boys to a model train exhibit at the Sandy Expo Center
Of course Neil gave in and bought each of the boys a souvenior

Sam had a hard time taking a nap one day and the whole time I could here him jumping around and being crazy and I just let him and never checked on him. That night when I put them to bed there was red fuzz all over hid bed and I asked him what it was but then I saw Elmo. Sam had given him a haircut as well as got him dressed.
Conner was so excited for his Valentine party at school. It was the first time he'd ever had fun dip and it turned his tongue green
We went on our first family outing to Ogden. On Friday the 12th you could ride UTA for free so we decided we'd take the frontrunner to Ogden. We didn't want to take a big stroller so Neil put Lucy in the Snugli and covered her up with his jacket. As we were walking around downtown, Neil stopped to play with the boys on some ramps and I kept walking and a couple ladies behind me were saying look at that . . . is that a man or a woman . . . it must be a woman because it's pregnant. I was dying laughing. I'm sure they were thinking you never know what crazies you'll come across in downtown Ogden.
On the frontrunner. Our trip was kind of a bust. The train ride was great but there was a Winterfest going on downtown that we walked too (boys complaining the whole time how tired their legs were) but we had just missed the events so we got ice cream and walked back home. It was my first time really getting out of the house so it felt good to get out and walk around.
One day Lucy was driving me crazy because she would not sleep and I needed a nap. Since she wouldn't sleep I decided to fold some laundry so I was holding her as I emptied the dryer and it was a little cumbersome with her so I just stuck her in the basket with the warm towels and continued to empty the dryer and she went right to sleep.
This is how I spent my Valentine's Day. I had gotten up to feed Lucy around 5 and decided to make my boys heart shaped cinnamon rolls. I had meetings beginning at 8 that I needed to get stuff ready for so I just stayed up. When I finally got home at 4:30 Lucy and I just crashed.
Mikey still loves Thomas. Neil went to a furniture store and asked if they had any big boxes. He brought them home and made a play house out of one and a train tunnel out of the other.
Sam absolutely adores Lucy. He is always on bow patrol. If she doesn't have a headband on he quickly finds one. The other day after he put one on her he exclaimed, "There, now she looks like a princess!" I have to watch Sam though because he loves to hold Lucy. In this picture Lucy had been in the swing screaming her lungs out and she finally stopped. I figured she must have went to sleep but when I went to check on her she was laying across Sam's stomach and he was singing to her. I ran to get the camera and when I came back this is what I saw. He had his arm around her singing to her. He is so sweet. When I take a shower I leave her on the changing table or bassinet and many time Sam has picked her up and put her on the bed so he can snuggle her. I just have to keep praying he doesn't drop or smother her.
At the park again
Conner is off track for the next 3 weeks so that is going to be nice except if I have to go to the store. I did take all 4 kids out for a couple errands and by the end of it I was in tears. I just knew I'd never be able to go anywhere. But since that first time it's gotten better probably because I've threatened the boys with their lives. Neil has been able to go into work late so he gets the boys breakfast and Conner ready for school but he's got to start going in early again so he can keep his job. I'm just thankful his job is so flexible. The last part of my pregnancy I started having pain in my right side/chest again. The doctor thought it was from the baby kicking me but after the delivery it got worse. To be honest I don't think anyone knows what it is or what causes it because I still have a slight pain, nothing to complain about but it's weird to have a pain for 2 months. I also had a cold forever and that's the whole reason Neil began staying home. He said I'd never get better if I didn't get some sleep which he's right. I've been sleeping in until 8:15 but that's all about to change but now I'm pretty healthy so we should all be just fine.
