Happy to be quiltng

I've been quilting the lap quilts every night. Nothing fancy, just straight line quilting.

I also thought that some should be guy type of quilts. So I am putting this one together.

I am thinking about tying them too. Someone suggested that some people in nursing homes may have dementia and they like to touch things. And I thought the ribbon ties might be good.

I hope you are having a wonderful week. We are still looking at lots of debris from the storms. It is pretty depressing but I know it will all be cleaned up in time.

Happy Quilting.

Best blueberry muffins

Recently I bought blueberries that were very bitter to the taste. I did not want to just throw them away so I went in search of a muffin recipe. And boy did I find a winner.

This is all that was left from a dozen of Our Favorite Easy Blueberry Muffin recipe. My berries were very large, so they overflowed in the batter. But oh, my, were they ever good. And the recipe is really easy.

So give them a try. I think you will like these delicious muffins.

Quilting with a purpose

Getting back into quilting and sewing has brought a little bit of distraction.

I made five more pillowcases and delivered all of them yesterday to the quilt shop.

I have also started quilting the lap quilts for the nursing homes.

Three done with just the binding left to do. Little by little I'm working on them.

We are still experiencing the ravages of Hurricane Milton. So much debris in the streets waiting to be picked up. I think most people are back to normal activities, unless there is still flooding in their area. The lakes are pretty high but seem to be receding.

But for now I am looking on the bright side. It feels good to be back to quilting with a purpose. Thanks again for staying in touch.

Of Gold and Shadows

Of Gold and Shadows is a charming mystery written by Michelle Griep.

Ami Daltons father is a renowned Egyptologist.  Ami longs to follow in her fathers foot steps. Unfortunately her gender keeps her from being taken seriously.

Edmund Price is looking for someone to catalogue and price some of his antiques to sell. Edmund employs Ami and that's where the tangles begin. They set out on an adventure and make many discoveries.

The story is well written with well rounded characters. A clean romance with mystery and faith. One that will keep you guessing.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Bethany House. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

The effects of Milton

It's been a hectic two weeks. Two hurricanes and all the clean up. Our area is still in shell shock over the amount of debris. Many have lost their homes and everything in them. Thankfully we did not suffer damage from the storms, only a lot of tree limbs and trash in our yard.

This is on every street. Piles of Trees and large trunks that have been cut down waiting for pick up. If I were to say Hurricane Milton was the scariest storm we have experienced it would be true. All night long we heard tree limbs and logs hitting the roof of our house. And the Wind! Oh my goodness. No sleeping that night. But I have to confess that the Lord gave us a sense of peace during it all. It has been hard to get back to blogging when I think of all the loss to flooding. And it is pretty widespread. Not only on the beaches but inland as well.

Thank you for the prayers and thoughts during this time. They have been most appreciated. And could you say a prayer for those who lost everything? Most people living inland do not have flood insurance, as they are not in flood areas. So they will be starting from scratch. Not only here in Florida but North Carolina and Georgia who took the brunt of Hurricane Helene.

Blessings to you on this Lord's day.

After the storm

We do not have power so I am hooking up to the hot spot. The generator runs to keep the food in fridge and freezer good. But only for a few hours as we are running out of gas. I am unable to post pictures, but there is flooding everywhere. We have not had any flooding, but lots and lots of debris in our yard. This has been a very big job following a very big storm. Praying others are fareing well. Will hopefully be back once our power is restored. Thanks for the prayers and support.

Hurricane Milton

We are bracing for the impact of Hurricane Milton. It is currently heading towards the Tampa bay area, but you just don't know with hurricanes. It could move and deviate it's entrance. However wherever it makes landfall, it will be a devastating storm with widespread destruction. We are certain to lose power. For how long, we don't know. There will be many people working to get things up and running again. Thanks to the military, police, garbage pickup, and linemen. We are most grateful for their continued service to our area. After two major hurricanes, they are very needed.

Horrible Helene

In Florida there has been a lot of destruction that swept away homes, cars and livelihood.

As we drove through Tampa yesterday, this is what a lot of neighborhoods were dealing with. Whole houses were in total ruin and left on the front lawns for, hopefully, pick up. I cannot imagine the financial burden most of these people will be dealing with. We are fortunate to not live near the water, but still, it breaks my heart to see so much of my city in ruins. However we are now being advised that another hurricane, Milton, is on track for a direct hit to central Florida. Which would add more flooding to an area already hard hit. Prayers are appreciated.
