Woohoo!

Happy Leap Day! Well, the weatherman was right and we are snowed in good! School is also closed (quite a miracle for our district) so we are having [another] Harry Potter movie marathon. After the first movie, I decided I better be a little bit productive so I found the SCS sketch challenge and more of my new products from i {heart} papers and created this card. Yesterday I showed you a card for my middle school son and today's card is for my high school daughter who also made the honor roll! I colored my little Tobi with my Copics and layered her up on some Authentique DP. I added some sparkle to the flowers in her hair with a spica glitter pen. The sentiment is from the Chubby Chums set by Paper Smooches.

Thanks so much for stopping by- now it's time for the family to shovel out of this:

Smile!

Good Tuesday afternoon my friends! We are huddled here inside waiting for an approaching winter storm to blow in. We haven't had any significant snowfall at all this winter (the snow blower hasn't even been started) and the weather man assures us that this is it- unless the atmosphere is too warm aloft and all we get is rain. . . I made a trip to Costco last night to stock up on "essentials" (you know- chips, Nutella, milk, etc,) just in case.

So here I sit CRAFTING!! Yay! I was playing with some more new paper and came up with a tween boy card. The end of the second trimester is drawing near, and I know that my middle schooler will be on the "A" Honor roll again {clapping hands} so it will come in handy then. I used a Technique Tuesday stamp set by Ali Edwards called Simply You. I love her sets but they don't stay in the i {heart} papers store very long, so if you want some I suggest you run over there and get them before they disappear! My layout is from Jen Shults and the DP is Echo Park's A Boy's Life collection.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

stamps: Simply You (Technique Tuesday)
ink: night of navy, marina mist (SU!)
paper: night of navy, marina mist, very vanilla (SU!); A Boy's Life DP (Echo Park)
accessories: brads, paper distresser (SU!); buttons (my stash); natural twine string (Creative Impressions); oval nestabilities (Spellbinders)

Thoughts of You

Hello my friends! Did you have a good weekend? We had a GREAT weekend! On Saturday we had our Pack Pinewood Derby for Cub Scouts and my boys both took 1st place in their age groups! Then on Sunday 2 of my boys had their music recital and both performed their pieces magnificently! I am one proud mom :)

I also had a great Saturday because I received my package of new craft supplies from i {heart} papers! I  am still working on making sympathy cards for my Mother-in-law, so that was the first thing I set out to do with my supplies! For this one I used some Fiddlesticks DP by MME and some dusty rose felt by True Felt. I cut my felt using a Spellbinders border die and it worked like a charm! I used some i {stick} papers red line tape to adhere the felt to the DP. My sentiment is from the Paper Smooches set Word Up. (Did you see all of the new Paper Smooches sets in the store right now?! AND there's more coming on March 1st!!) I embellished the sentiment with tiny punched flowers and Kaiser Craft pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

stamps: Word Up (Paper Smooches)

paper: crumb cake, pool part, perfect plum (SU!); Fiddle sticks DP (MME)

Is it Wednesday?

I get so messed up with what day it is when the kids have an extra day off of school! I just realized this afternoon that it is actually WEDNESDAY instead of Tuesday! That much closer to Friday I guess ;)!

Here's a sweet little card I made for a friend. I just love coloring these Pure Innocence kids from My Favorite Things with my Copics! This time I tried the spotted shadow effect (I don't know if that's really what it's called but that's what it is!). Anyways, it looks a lot more subtle in real life- it looks kind of weird here in the picture. My DP is from the new MME Miss Caroline Dolled Up collection and my layout is by Jen Shults.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Wednesday!!

stamps: Feeling Froggy (MFT); Tiny Tags (SU!)
ink: memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko)

Spring Wreath

Hello my friends and welcome to this month's i {heart} papers Design Team challenge! This month we are hopping along with the Paper Craft Planet Girls to showcase some of the new products and ideas that were unveiled at CHA in January. Of course, not everyone can attend CHA. We were quite sorely missing some of our team mates (that would be me!)...and the general public is not eligible to attend. Thankfully, those of you who couldn't be there can live vicariously through the next best thing: photos! Check out these in this post from Susanna, and several posts from MoxieFab! New product is arriving almost daily in the i {heart} papers store so be sure to check out the NEW ITEMS page frequently! Okay on with my project.

One of the prominent themes at CHA was the use of banners. I took some Paper Heart DP by Crate Paper and cut some small banner shapes with my Big Shot. I then used my Olivia alphabet for my cuttlebug and cut out the word "spring" from more of the Paper Heart DP. I used i {stick} papers red line tape to adhere the banners to the twisted hemp rope. I decorated the end banners with punched flowers and rhinestones for a little sparkle :) I then embellished the rest of the wreath with some flower picks and mushroom birds (why are they called mushroom birds?!) that I bought at Michael's. I couldn't call it complete without  a ribbon bow! Here is a close up picture of the banner.

Even though it is only February, our weather here in Minneapolis has been absolutely gorgeous (for us anyways!). We don't have any snow on the ground and we have enjoyed many days in the 40s with lots of sunshine. I think I may just leave my spring wreath hanging up in the foyer until it actually snows again! Thanks so much for stopping by and please check out the rest of the team!

SMOOCHES!

Happy Valentine's Day my friends! Are you spending time with the ones you love today? The baby I take care of during the day is gone this week so my little preschooler and I went and had lunch at the elementary school with the 3rd graders (not something I want to try with a 16 month old in tow!). Quite the adventure! My ears were ringing from all of the chatter when we left! Tonight I have a special dinner planned for our family and treats to give to the kids. Here are a couple of the cards I made for them using Paper Smooches stamps. The first one is for my 10 year-old boy.

I used the bear from Chubby Chum Pals and colored him with my Copics. I trimmed him out and popped him up on some Joy Ride DP by Cosmo Cricket. The sentiment is from the Chubby Chum Pals set too.

This next one is for my 8 year-old son.

For his card I used the kangaroo and sentiment from the A Little Lovin' set. Again, I colored my main image with my Copics, trimmed him out and popped him up. The DP is from the Out of the Blue collection by MME.

I know they will like their Valentine's goodies but I'm sure they will still be pestering us for a dog. . .

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Comfort

Hooray for Saturdays! Our weekend schedule at this time of year is pretty light and so we spend a lot of time doing family stuff together on Saturdays and just relaxing on Sundays! Today my husband and boys are working on their Pinewood Derby cars for the big race at the end of the month so that gave me a little time to stamp! I started with this week's MOJO Monday sketch and some of my favorite Verve stamps. I promised my Mother-in-law a few months ago that I would make her a bunch of sympathy cards for her stash and I'm just getting around to it now (that's not going to get me any brownie points now is it?!). I again found a much loved but not used up paper pad by MME and set to work. One down- quite a few to go!

Thanks for stopping by!

stamps: New Mercies (Verve)
ink: memento rich cocoa (Tsukineko); spiced marmalade, antique linen distress ink (Ranger)
paper: very vanilla, dusty durango (SU!); Mabel DP (MME)
accessories: oval nestabilities (Spellbinders); green pearls (Kaiser Craft); ivory lace tape (Love My Tapes); brown twine string (Creative Impressions)

Happy Heart

Happy Friday! I played along with this week's My Favorite Things sketch challenge! All of the papers are from the Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink collection by MME (an older collection that I have to use up before I can buy anymore DP! Yeah right!) I colored my cutie with my Copics and paper pieced her dress. Here's the original sketch and you will see that my main panel is a bit shorter than the sketch dictates- oops! I still love it and it felt good to stamp 2 days in a row :)

Speaking of Copics. We were weren't we? i {heart} papers now has the set of 12 new Copics in the store!! Thanks for stopping by!

stamps: Because You're Special (MFT)
ink: memento rich cocoa (Tsukineko)
paper: whisper white, riding hood red (SU!); Fine and Dandy Tickled Pink DP (MME)
accessories: Copic sketch markers; button (Cosmo Cricket); brown twine string (Creative Impressions)

In a Holding Pattern

I consider myself a pretty patient person but I am having a hard time waiting for new product to arrive at i {heart} papers from CHA! I've heard rumors (from a pretty reliable source!) that new inventory includes *new* embossing folders, *new* twine, *new* felt, and oodles of stamps! Of course, there will also be the oldies but goodies of Echo Park, October Afternoon, Authentique and many more patterned papers. It should start arriving in the next few weeks but still, my patience is running thin. . .

One of my favorite products from i {heart} papers is Paper Smooches stamps. (Right now the inventory is a bit low but I've been assured that more are on the way!!) Anyways, I took out my A Little Lovin' set to make a quick thank you card. I colored my froggy with my Copics and then layered him up on some A Walk in the Park DP by Echo Park. I used a sentiment from Word Up (also by Paper Smooches) and accented it with a blue rhinestone from Kaiser Craft.

There's some changes going on at i {heart} papers regarding the shipping charges that you can read about here. It's still a great deal so not to worry about that :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! PS- did you notice that I'm still taking pictures outside?! Here it is February 9th in MinneSNOWta and we have NO SNOW! I'm not complaining- just observing :)!

stamps: A Little Lovin', Word Up (Paper Smooches)
ink: memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko)
paper: very vanilla, ruby red (SU!); A Walk in the Park DP (Echo Park)
accessories: circle nestabilities (Spellbinders); word window punch (SU!); pom pom trim (Maya Road); aquamarine rhinestones (Kaiser Craft); Copic sketch markers

Wish Big

Hello my crafty friends! I actually have a card to share with you today (shocking I know). It's been such a busy start to 2012 and my crafty time has been severely affected! I've also been fighting a nasty cold that has me thinking more about naps than making cards. . . Anyways, my card today is for a 14 year-old boy. They are always the hardest for me to create but I think this one is pretty good (at least my son thought it was- maybe he just wanted to get out of my craft room after I called him down there so many times to consult on my project?) I used this month's Sketch for You to Try by Jen del Muro for my layout and some Out of the Blue DP by MME. It was hard not to add ribbon so I settled on some hemp twine instead :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

stamps: Word Play (SU!)
ink: Dusty Durango (SU!)
paper: very vanilla, dusty durango (SU!); Out of the Blue DP (MME)
accessories: star punch, glitter (SU!); dew drops (Robin's Nest); circle and rectangle nestabilities (Spellbinders); hemp twine (Michael's)
