Unity GIU, Day Five: 1 Stamp, 5 Projects: Art Journal

And so it has come, my last day as your GIU gal for Unity Stamp Co. It's been a great week and I hope I have shown you that your stamps can be used for more than just card making.

To finish off my week I have decided to get whimsical and colorful spread for my art journal. An art journal is a fabulous place to play around, try out new techniques, and just create for the fun of it. I decided to go all rainbow. I saw a cute meme on Facebook the other day and it inspired this page. The Cuddlebug Zebra is the star, with a guest appearance by the cloud from Sending Up Something Beautiful Be sure to see how it was made by viewing the video below.

Thanks for joining me this week. I hope I was able to show you how to stretch your stamp stash to use in a variety of project formats. Be sure to leave comments on all the days so that you have a better chance at winning one of the prizes! Until next time, happy stamping!

Unity GIU Day Four: 1 Stamp, 5 Projects: Traveler's Notebook

Welcome to day 4 of my GIU week. How can it be day four already‽ Today I am using the Duddlebug Zebra to embellish my traveler's notebook.

A traveler's notebook is a bit of a mini album. they are designed to be slim, something you can travel with. You can add bits and bobs whilst you are traveling or you can fill them when you get home. Many people use them to just document everyday life too. I think it would be fun to do an "A Year In" project with one. I made this one before I left and plan on filling it with stories from my trip.

I used the image of the zebra as well as stamping the grass onto the background.

Come back tomorrow for my last day as your GIU gal. I can't believe it's almost over. I saved something a bit of fun for you tomorrow. Be sure to leave a comment to be in the running for one of the grab bag prizes. Until tomorrow, happy stamping!

Unity GIU Day One: 1 Stamp, 5 Projects: Card

Hello, fellow Unies! Welcome to my GIU week 2020. This week I thought I would look at different types of projects to use our stamps on. And for an added bonus, I am using just one kit all week, with a few supporting kits here and there.

The star of this week is the adorable Cuddlebug Zebra. Isn't he just the cutest? I got to go on safari in Tanzania, Africa last year and I came to love the zebra. All the cats were so cool and I got to see a lot of them, but the zebra are everywhere and they are so smart and seem very caring within their herds and look really cool against the golden grasses, a look that I tried to convey in my card with the color palette and burlap texture. Be sure to check out the video of how it was put together below.

Be sure to leave a comment to be in the running for a prize of some deeply etched red rubber of your very own. Tune in tomorrow to see this lil guy in action on a project of a different kind. Until then, happy stamping!

Stamping Gifts

Happy December! It's the season of giving and what better gift to give than one made with your own hands? I love giving and receiving handmade gifts. I like to think about my recipient as a create a little something special just for them. If you also love to give your heart in a gift, this is the challenge for you!

I have been giving handmade ornaments with the Christmas cards, to my co-workers, for years. When I saw the new wood slice die/embossing folder from Tim Holtz, I knew I wanted to make ornaments. As soon as I saw A Little Mousy, I knew I had found my stamp! This is such a cute kit, very versatile, and was a fairly simple project to make. Cut and ink the wood slices, stamp and color the image, cut out and add to the wood slice. You can see the process in the video below.

For this challenge, I task you with making a gift of some sort. It can be a pack of cards, canvas, coaster, jewelry, ornament, the sky is the limit! Bless someone's day with a gift from your heart and hands. The challenge will be open all month, so you have time. Be sure to upload to the Unity Show & Tell group to be in the running for a prize. Until next time, happy stamping!

Happy World Card Making Week!

It's World Card Making week and Scrapbook.com is celebrating by delving into making cut files! Their first set is amazing and comes sized for all sorts of projects; cards, traveller's notebook, scrapping, and pocket cards. There are many add ons too. Best of all? It's a freebie this week! Be sure to head on over and download them today!

Here is a card that I whipped up using the card front. Isn't it just darling? I did rainbow inking using Distress Inks and blender brushes, backing onto a black base. I just sprinkled a few gems and hearts from the die cut. Bingo, fast card that is sure to please.

Also, be sure to check out the freebies that are being given away this week. They are simply fantastic!

Stay tuned for another project using these cut files later in the week. Until then, happy crafting!

Together - AFFB Layout

Hi there, I have a bright, fun layout to share with you today! I just received some rainbow flair from A Flair For Buttons, so I had to make a rainbow layout to put them on! I recently picked up the August kit from Paper Issues and it's all about the rainbow! Lately I have been gravitating towards bright colors and rainbows because I've needed the boost. I chose this photo of a recent gathering of scrap friends because it also makes me happy.

I took my favorite stencil by Julie Balzer. I inked it with a rainbow of Distress Inks, misted, then stamped it onto watercolor paper.
