Son las nueve de la noche y está poniéndose el sol / The spring is just so amazing

Este año tuvimos un invierno largo y feo. Lo que pasó fue que no había nieve y a mi parecer ni había frío así que pasamos como un otoño de seis meses y nada más.

Estos días han sido soleadísimos y poco a poco voy realizando que ya es primavera. Los aves que pasaron el invierno en el sur han vuelto a Finlandia y están haciendo una bulla tremenda. Son las nueve ya pero me parecen a las cinco de la tarde porque todavía hace tanta luz afuera. La gente ya no se encierra en las casas sino que todo el mundo está en las calles disfrutando el sol y el ambiente.

Tuve un buen día hoy. Lo pasé solita aquí en casa pero alcancé hacer muchas cosas. Todavía que hace luz creo que voy a estar despierta por bastante tiempo. El verano será peor aún - a finales del junio el sol no se pondrá y yo creo que estaré despiertica toda la noche...





The past winter was long and ugly. There were no snow and in my opinion it didn't get cold neither so that we had to live something like a fall of 6 months.

These days have been very sunny and little by little I'm realizing that it's spring already. The birds that spent the winter in the south are back in Finland and they are quite noisy out there just now. The people don't stay in their houses anymore. Everybody are outside enjoying the sun.

It was a good day today. I was alone in my home but I managed to do many things. As there is still quite a lot light outside, I think I'll be awake for some hours still. The summer will be even worse - at the end of June the sun doesn't set so apparently I'll be awake all the night...

Lo que sabe mi hermana pero yo no / My sister's superiority

Se fue descubierto que mi hermana es la única finlandesa que sabe pronunciar la Ñ correctamente (así me dijeron mis amigos latinos). La envidio mucho. En realidad ella ni habla español aparte de algunas cosas que todavía se acuerda de un par de cursos que tomó hace años...

Ya me explicó mi hermana por qué es tan hábil. Es que ella habla ruso - el idioma que yo estudié por un par de cursos y ya se me olvidó todo de eso - y el ruso tiene el mismo fonema. ¡Ja! En realidad ella no sabe hablar español, habla ruso no más, ¿ok? ;)

Mi hermana me instruyó más aún. Dijo que también el dialecto de Savo (es una región en Finlandia), o sea el mismo finlandés, contiene el fonema ese idéntico con el Ñ.

Me doy rendida. ¡¡¡ Ya quiero mudarme a Savo para mejorar mi español !!!


It came out that my sister is the only Finn able to pronounce the Spanish letter Ñ correctly (that's what my Latin friends told me). I'm very envious of her. In fact she doesn't even speak Spanish apart from something she still remembers about the couple of courses she took years ago...

My sister has already explained me why she is so talented. The reason is that she speaks Russian - the language I studied for a couple of courses and already forgot everything about it - and the Russian language has the same phonem in it. Great! In the reality she doesn't speak Spanish, just Russian, alright? ;)

My sister educated me even more. She told me that also the dialect of Savo region (it's a part of Finland), ie. the very Finnish language, contains a phonem identical to the Ñ.

I give up. I just want to move my home to Savo in order to improve my Spanish!!!

... el no tener ningún compromiso para el día no significa que después de volver del trabajo alcance hacer compras, estudiar, limpiar, lavar los platos, hacer pan, lavar ropa, leer un libro bueno, tocar la guitarra tal vez y descansar bien haciendo lo que más me gusta y durmiendo ocho horas por lo menos

... a veces tengo que decir "no" a la gente aunque se molesten por eso - lo esencial es seguir fiel en lo que Dios me ha encomendado

... no soy nada ni alcanzo nada sin gracia de Dios y poder de su Espíritu - que tan débil e inmadura soy y a pesar de eso Dios me ama y es capaz de usarme para bendecir otros tales

... ya no tengo que viajar al otro lado del mundo para espiar la tierra (Núm. 13:17-20) sino que en el internet puedo aprender un montón de cosas. Por eso puedo reírme como lo hacen los chilenos - ¡¡al menos virtualmente!! ;)

The Ruler of the Kingdom I live and work for has kept on educating me.
For the past days I have learnt something about the facts that...

... to have no commitments for the day doesn't mean that after the work I could go to the shop, study, clean the house, wash the plates, make some bread, wash the clothes, read a good book, maybe play the guitar and rest well doing what I want to and sleaping at least for eight hours

... sometimes I have to say "no" to the people though it can make them angry - most important is to be faithful in what God has entrusted to me

... I'm nothing nor do I achieve anything without God's grace and the power of His Spirit - that being that weak and immature God loves me and is able to use me to bless other weak and immature ones

... I don't have to travel to another continent anymore to explore the country (Numbers 13: 17-20) but I can learn a lot in the internet. That's why I can laugh how the Chileans do it - at least virtually!! ;)

La historia en nuestras manos / The history in our hands

El pasado fin de semana viajé a Jyväskylä para asistir una conferencia juvenil de misiones, "Hacedor de historia". Era segunda conferencia con ese nombre y la primera en que participé yo. Me quedé sorprendida porque la iglesia estaba pero llena de gente. Se veía que los organizadores habían trabajado duro para realizar todo y para congregar toda esa gente. Mi deseo es ver muchos de esos jóvenes reconociendo los sueños de Dios en sus vidas y haciéndolos realidad.

Dos cosas me tocaron en manera muy especial. El Señor ya me había hablado de ellas y me encantó ver que Él sigue adelantando su obra en esas áreas.

UNO: Se enseñaba muy claramente que lo más importante es servirle a Dios dondequiera que estemos. A veces solemos pensar que mejor nos sería estar en otro país para que Dios nos pueda usar. En la iglesia de Pamplona había escuchado la misma idea dicha en otras palabras: "Si Dios quiera que estés en la Kenia (o cualquier otro lugar), te hubiera puesto allí." Así que dejemos de desconfiar en nuestro Creador en vez de servirle en la ciudad "a la cual nos hizo transportar" (Jer. 29:7)...

Ya me veo muy consentida. El Señor está hallándome gente latina en todas partes. Aunque estoy en Finlandia, Él me está hablando en el castellano también. A la conferencia Él envió a una pareja latina, y me encantó oír como enseñaban ellos. Espero que otros latinos en Finlandia puedan tener algo de que tiene esa pareja. Que de verdad puedan ser bendecidos y de bendición en la ciudad donde el Señor les colocó. Y bien, ya me veo como una latina, ¿ok? ;D

DOS: Vi jóvenes y adolescentes sirviendo cada uno en su lugar. Son jóvenes que no lo habían hecho antes, pero ahora estaban dirigiendo a otros jóvenes. Ya veo que Él está perfeccionando a sus santos (Ef. 4:12) aquí en Finlandia también. Como decía mi amigo colombiano: ¡Finlandia está bajo de bendición de Dios! De esa bendición queremos compartir a los demás también.

The past weekend I travelled to Jyväskylä to take part of a youth conference of missions, "Historymaker." It was the second conference with that name and the first one I was participating. I was amazed because the church was so full. It was obvious that the organizers had worked hard to make reality of this all and to gather all those people. I hope to see many of those young people recognizing God's dreams in their lives and making them reality.

Two things touched me in a very special way. The Lord had already spoken me about them and I was so happy to see that He is still working in those areas.

ONE: It was taught very clearly that the most important thing is to serve God wherever we are. Sometimes we tend to think it would be better to be in some other country to be used by God. In the church of Pamplona I had heard the same view in other words: "If God wanted you to be in Kenya (or whatever place in the world), He would have placed you there." So let's stop mistrusting our Creator and serve Him in the city "to which He has carried us" (Jer. 29:7)...

I think I'm quite boiled. The Lord is finding Latin people for me wherever I go. Even though I am in Finland, He is speaking me in Spanish as well. He sent a Latin couple to the conference and I enjoyed to listen them teaching. I hope the other Latin people in Finland could have something similar than this couple. That they could really be blessed and a blessing in the city in which the Lord has put them. And well, I'm a Latino as well, all right? ;D

TWO: I saw young people serving each one in his/her place. That youth hadn't done similar things before, but now they were directing other people as well. The Lord is preparing His people for works of service (Eph. 4:12) also here in Finland. That's what my Colombian friend used to say: Finland is under God's blessing! This blessing we want to be sharing to the others as well.
