Act 2

In Act 2, some character relationships we have witnessed have changed.  For example Nora and Dr. Rank.  In Act 1 we learn Dr. Rank is a close family friend of Nora and Torvalds.  Later in Act 2 Dr. Rank reveals he loves Nora.  In A Dolls House Dr. Rank thinks he is going to die soon and tells Nora how he feels.  It states In a Dolls House " Nora do you think he is the only one who would gladly give his life for you."(Ibsen) Dr. Rank and Nora go form being friends to things getting awkward. In my opinion its going to be hard to ever look at Dr. Rank again as the Helmers close friend.

Another relationship that we have learned more about is Krogstad and Mrs. Linde. In act 2 it is revealed that Mrs. Linde and Krogstad dated in the past.  Mrs. Linde left  for a richer man to support her family.  In act 3 they get back together after discussing Nora's blackmail.  In a Dolls House its states"  I need some one to tend, and your children need a mother. You need me, and I need you."(Ibsen)  I predict Mrs. Linde has a another reason why she got back together with Krogstad.

Act 1

After reading act 1 of A Dolls House we were introduced to many characters.  For example Helmer treats his wife, Nora disrespectfully.  He often refers to her as a squirrel or a bird.  In the play A Dolls House it states " Is it my little squirrel bustling around.  This shows that Helmer doesn't treat Nora how a wife should be treated but, as a child or animal.  If I was in Nora's position, I would stick up for myself.  I would not want to be treated the way Helmer treats Nora.

Another Character interaction I've noticed is the way Krogstad talks to Nora.  He is described as a disreputable person by Helmer due to him comitting the crime of forgery.  Krogstad blackmails Nora who has also comitted the crime of forgery.  With Helmer becoming bank manager he is worried he will be fired and wants a higher position.  If I was in Noras shoes I would own up to my mistake because that is better than the constant fear of Helmer finding out .

Introduction

Hi, I'm Hannah!  When I have free time and I'm not doing stuff for school I enjoy listening to music. After school I usually have fun with color guard or being a part of the marching band.  In English class this year I enjoyed reading the alchemist.  I have always enjoyed books where the author takes you on a journey with the characters.  I enjoyed the message the Alchemist sent about achieving goals or your personal legend.

Henrik Ibsen was born on March 20, 1828.  In 1868, Henrik Ibsen moved to Germany where he wrote a dolls house.  Growing up he was the oldest of  5 children.  His Father was a great, successful merchant.  While, his mother  painted, played the piano, and  attended the theater.  After problems with his fathers business, his family became poor.  In 1862 Ibsen was forced to move to Italy in exile.   In his final years Ibsen had many strokes so, he was unable to write.  Soon on May 23, 1906 Henrik Ibsen died.  The play a Dolls House could possibly be based on how they went from wealthy to a poverty stricken family and the struggles they faced.
