The day after Easter Max had his 6 month check up. Everything seemed to be fine except for a runny nose. The doctor sent us home and by the next day his breathing was a little concerning. I waited as long as possible thinking it was only my imagination. I waited unil 7:30 that night and then took him to the after hours clinic. Thats where the nightmare began. I waited for what seemed to be an eternity and the got stuck with the dang PA, who didn't know what the heck he was doing. He ended up giving max a Nebulizer along with some medicine. Every 4 hours for 30min we had to hold the nebulizer in front of his face, which at first was fun for max until 1am. This went on for 2 days and then I decided I better take him to his REAL doctor. I explaind the situation and he said, "that was a nice try with the nebulizer, but recent studies have shown that it doesn't help RSV, it only makes the kids more jittery." I thought to myself thats why he was up at 3am crying. He went on to tell me Max had RSV and was to be on oxygen for 4 or so days. I was literally in tears. I couldn't stop crying. I felt like the worst mother ever. So we are now on day 4 and Max is doing a lot better but he still has a little bit of wheezy breathing. Tomorrow is his next check up so lets all pray that he can get off this oxygen.
