CALAFORNIA DREAMIN'

Hank and I spent a fun filled weekend in California, visiting family and old friends and having some good times. I am not going to lie I was thoroughly disappointed when the first two days of our trip were 65 and overcast, I mean c'mon it is July and we are in California????! I was truly disappointed but we ended up having a great time despite the dreary weather!

Greta and Ingrid took us to the L.A. County Museum where on Friday nights they play jazz music and you can come listen and hang out. It was the perfect summer activity and we had a blast eating good picnic food on the lawn and listening to jazz music!

Side note: Have you ever heard of a BUGABOO. I had heard of them but didn't really think that anyone in their right mind actually paid $800 for a stroller. Apparently I was wrong they were everywhere at the LACMA. Greta was making fun of me because I was fascinated by all the high end strollers!

MOVING ON:
We also got to celebrate Hank's 29th birthday while in Cali and made it a great day by making our way south to hang out with our favorite couple Brittany and Brandon

Between attempting to go to the beach, hot tubing, eating amazing sushi, visiting Mike and Moka and their amazing house, and finishing it off with dessert at Dukes it was a fun filled birthday for the old man :)

Doesn't he look happy?

Ok so now on to the real reason that we made this great trip to California...drum roll please...

THE WIENER DOGS, aka: Ursala and Geudren. Greta was off to a fun filled weekend in Vegas and needed some dog sitters, so naturally Hank and I were on it! Now most of you that know me know that I am not much of an animal lover, however I survived the weekend with the dogs and they actually started to grow on me. Not to say that my mind is changed about ever having animals, in fact I think Hank and I are even more convinced of that fact after this weekend. Sorry to all you dog lovers out there.

So now here we are home and back to real life. In fact right now I am writing this post to once again procrastinate packing up the house. But I think the inevitable has come. Wish me luck!

Thank you to all you Californians who made our vacation a blast, we love you all!

BIRTHDAY FUN!

So this year I decided to plan my own birthday party, yeah a little self centered but when you get older you have to take matters into your own hands. Since Hank and I's birthday's are only 6 days apart and we are leaving in the next couple weeks I thought it was a perfect time to throw a birthday/going away party. Here are a few things I learned about throwing your own party!

- Family is always there for you! Isn't it great to know that if you send out a million invitations but don't know if anyone is going to show at least you can always count on your family to be there to back you up!

- It is a little more work then I thought. I mean what ever happended to being little and your mom doing everything and then you just showing up and being the center of attention! Thanks mom.

- You are never too old to play Rock Band...my Grandma GOOSE rocking out like she was in her twenties (highlight of the party, I wish I had it videotaped)

-Costco cake will always be a winner, too bad I still have the rest of it here for me to pick at for the next week. Cake anyone?

- If your HOUSE faces East then just relocate the party to another location. Poor Hank made the most amazing tent for shade and a half hour before the party I decided that it needed to move. My bossy perfectionist self resulted in a swollen hand, a sliced open finger, another shower as guests were arriving because he was covered in blood and sweat. He is a trooper and the tent was amazing. Too bad I don't have any pictures of it!

-Birthdays are the best, I don't care how old you get always make your birthday special!

Thank you all for making my birthday eve so special!

INDEPENDENCE DAY THE CALGARY WAY!

Hank's favorite holiday is the 4th of July! When we realized that we would be spending our AMERICAN HOLIDAY in another country we were a little bummed. However, my Aunt Jeanne and Uncle Richard came to the rescue and got us tickets for the one and only CALGARY STAMPEDE! For those of you who don't know what the STAMPEDE is...it is 10 fun filled days of carnival, rodeo, barrell horse racing, and Hank's favorite...the mini donuts. We had a blast and since we were able to go on the 4th we also got an amazing firework show! So although we weren't able to celebrate the traditional way we definately had an amazing time in Canada. The Allen's were fabulous hosts and we are so excited to be able to spend time with them up in Calgary!

I think I found a job for next year!

He was in love, I don't know if he will be able to wait until next year!

Ridin' some rides

Barrell horse races!

For those of you who are wondering we found a place to live and will be making our departure on August 3rd!

SUMMER LOVIN'

I know that for many of you summer has been going on for two months but for me this week has been my first week of freedom and I am jam packing the fun in left and right. This unemployment thing is GREAT!!!! Since we are moving at the beginning of August I thought that I would take a month off to get packed up, but mostly to spend time with my family and friends who I am going to miss so much! It has only been two days and I am getting to do so many things I have dreamed of as I would slave away in a freezing cubicle all day. Between spending my days at the pool and the nights at the lake I have a feeling that July is going to be the best month ever.
