USA Day 2 - Universal Studio Hollywood (B)

Continuation from USA Day 2 - Universal Studio Hollywood (A)…

The first ride that we went for was Jurassic Park: The Ride, a river-raft ride through a dinosaur-infested jungle. You'll want to wear your rain poncho for the 85-foot plunge finale to escape from the ferocious T-Rex! Look at us, totally drenched!!

Photo ops with characters from Revenge of the Mummy

Entrance to Revenge of the Mummy, an indoor roller coaster which races through the dark at 45 mph past exploding fireballs, raging mummy warriors and swarming beetles with sudden launch, forwards and backwards motion. Warning: This is a super exciting ride!! Not for the faint hearted. Free locker is available to riders to store their belonging for the duration of the ride.

Photo ops with Bumblebee Autobot

Entrance to Transformers: The Ride, a motion simulator ride consists of vehicle-mounted motion platforms and super-size 3D projections of various Transformers characters. We entered a vehicle and found ourselves in the middle of the war zone with Optimus as the Autobots attempt to protect the AllSpark from the Decepticons.

USA Day 2 - Universal Studio Hollywood (A)

Started our Day 2 trip with a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood - a combination of a working TV and movie studio and a movie-based theme park!

The famous Hollywood Sign, perched high atop Mount Lee, the tallest peak in Los Angeles.
Photo taken from Hollywood and Highland Center.

Zoom in on the T-rex dinosaur that broke through the roof of Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum.

Direction:
1. Take Metro Red Line train from Hollywood and Highland Station to Universal City Station
2. Follow the crowd to exit the station
3. Cross the road
4. Wait at the bus stop on the right side of the road for the free shuttle bus up the hill to Universal Studios. Frequency: Every 10 to 15 minutes

Universal Studio Hollywood bus and entrance

We produced our universal-print-at-home-tickets (each ticket priced at US$76.00 = SG$96.52) to enter the park and picked up a map and show schedule guide on the way in.

USA Day 1 - Los Angeles : Hollywood Blvd

Itinerary and photos of our holiday trip to USA in Oct 2012. Enjoy!

What a big difference in luggage sizes for our 18 days USA holiday trip!
Smallest luggage = SY; Medium = AH; Largest = AG

LAX arrival hall

Boarded FlyAway bus at the airport terminal and bus took about 30mins to reach Union Station. Gotta alight from the bus, join a queue to buy bus tickets ($7 per pax one way, payment by credit card only) and give bus tickets to bus driver to claim our luggage. What a strange arrangement! I can ran off without paying any fare if I don’t have any luggage with me…

2013 Goals

HELLO, ANYONE?? …one …one …one (echo fading away)
Does anyone still visit this blog? I wonder, hmm…

And yesh, it’s been a really long time since anyone has updated the blog… it’s time to write an entry NOW!

So… Happy New Year 2013!

Time to start over! Reflect on 2012, hit the reset button and decide what resolutions you are going to set for the new year. 2103 is going to be the year of goals and priorities for me.

1. Improve returns on saving and investment portfolio.
Gotta beat that ~5% inflation given today’s low savings account rates and zero/low wage increase environment. I’m just hopping to keep my job lor, sad…

2. Make money from banks and credit cards
Yesh, make money out of banks and credit cards, not the other way around. Need to open the right account and use the right credit card to earn promotional perks, rebates, rewards points, etc. And be sure to redeem the rebates dollars and rewards points on the credit cards before they expire.

3. Have a better career
Take control.

4. Spend more time with family and friends

5. Learn something new
Tons of things that I want to learn, e.g. golf, horse riding, cooking, new language, investment strategies, etc… but wait, didn’t I make the goal to play golf and learn horse riding a few years back? Ah, I need to be more discipline, haha.

Have you make your New Year's resolutions? =)

ishot: Art Garden 2012

Art Garden returns for the third year running with an engaging range of contemporary artworks by Singaporean and international artists that will appeal to children and families.

Walter : The curious colossal bunny is back at SAM!

Dancing Solar Flowers : Paper flowers with solar-powered mechanism.

Ping Pong Go-Round : Player can engage in a game with as many players as possible around a donut-shaped table.

Echoes-Infinity-The Forest : Space covered with traditional flower shapes and patterns made using felt, colour pigments and acrylic. Creation and destruction is born when visitors step onto the painted flower garden. Within that space, time and memories are engraved on the floor. With the passing of time, the flowers begin to blur, but the imprint of time, which is eternally present, creates a new space to replace the old.

Kakhé : A variety of symbols and characters of Baweanese culture.

Everyday Wonders : You can create art using everyday objects such as paper clips and clothes pegs to create a variety of print patterns and designs.

Our ‘weak’ attempts at art marking

The Art of Imagination : Interactive installation with graphics and text printed and painted on recyclable cardboard boxes. Visitors can add their personal drawings or re-place and rearrange the boxes to create a new message or image.

Dress Me Up : Play make-believe in this fantasy world of dolls with a fantastical wardrobe of clothes and shoes.

Reactive Wall : Make sounds through a microphone to generate icons to pop up and cover the wall.

Let’s Dance : Dance in a private dance box and share this experience with others as your dance will be projected onto a screen alongside videos of previous participants, making up a huge constellation of dancers.

Grow the Garden in the Dark : An artificial garden on the wall using Origami.

5QU1D : Hybrid squid-like creature embedded with blinking lights.
