Binge Drinking?

What is a Standard Drink?

One standard drink is equivalent to 1 can of beer or 120 mls of wine or 30 mls of spirits.

Conversion Table :
1) BEER or COOLER (~5% alcohol) : 12 oz. = 1 std drink
2) MALT LIQUOR (~7% alcohol) : 12 oz. = 1.5 std drink
3) TABLE WINE (~12% alcohol) : 750ml bottle / 25 oz. = 5 std drink
4) 80-proof SPIRITS (hard liquor) (~40% alcohol) : a mixed drink = 1 std drink or more* ; a pint (16 oz.) = 11 std drink
*Note: Depending on factors such as the type of spirits and the recipe, one mixed drink can contain from one to three or more standard drinks.

To enjoy alcohol without risking health, men should drink no more than four standard drinks each day, women should have no more than two standard drinks a day, and everyone should have at least two alcohol free days a week. Drinking regularly above these levels may contribute to high blood pressure (a risk factor for heart disease and stroke) and increase the risk of cancer, liver disease and brain damage. Because women's bodies are more sensitive to the harmful affects of alcohol, they need to drink less than men.

In Singapore, the legal limit of alcohol in the blood is 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. In general, for a 60-70 kg person, about 1 ½ large bottle of beer (which is about 1000ml) consumed over half an hour can give rise to a blood alcohol concentration of 80mg of ethanol per 100ml of blood.

Drink responsibly

• Decide your drink limit before you start drinking.
• Limit yourself to not more than two standard drinks per day.
• Eat while you drink. Don't drink on an empty stomach.
• Sip one drink slowly over a long period of time. Don't gulp.
• Avoid drinking spirits neat. Mix them with soda water, ginger ale or fruit juices.
• Alternate your drinks with non-alcoholic ones.
• Don't drink if you are taking drugs, like antihistamines which are prescribed for flu.
• Never drive after drinking.
• If you plan to drink, don't drive
- Call a cab
- Catch a ride with a friend who hasn't been drinking
- Call home and have a sober family member come and get you
- Stay overnight
- Better still, ensure that the designated driver for your group agrees ahead of time, not to drink on that occasion, so that he can drive your group home safely when the party ends.

(Newly added, courtesy of my sis!!)

plan for sat, 14/7/2007

loveflower: plan for this sat as followed:

optional: lunch with me at either raffles place (golden shoe) or ecp mac.

1. Blade at ecp. meet 2pm at ecp mac.

2. Tui na at chinatown. after blade session which should end at 4pm or thereabout, travel to destination by bus, eta 5pm.

reason for tui na is because of shoulder-ache. main culprit = being deskbound for the whole day, not sitting in the correct posture, walking high heels, etc... so... need tui na lah... hahaha.. hopefully it's not too painful... paying money to suffer man... =<

3. dinner at chinatown area... hawker.

so let me know whether you are joining me or not k... seeya!

My makeover album!

Hi gals!
I finally collected my makeover album last Sunday. Damn happy! Went to Malaysia to do my makeover, it's relatively cheaper and quality is good. Shall show you all on the next gathering! If any of you gals wanna try this makeover as well, you can contact me to get the contacts. The shop is at JB City Square, the shopping centre just across our Causeway! Didn't mean to do free publicity for them, but I'm a satisfied customer. ;)
Here are a few pics from my makeover:

Anyway I watched Transformers yesterday, highly recommended! (though sometimes I can't differentiate the good guys from the bad guys as they're all machines) Watched it on a hungry stomach but I soon forgot my hunger pangs the moment the movie started! It wld be better if you read the movie synopsis before watching the show to get a clearer picture before entering the cinema.

Enjoy the remaining few hrs of the weekend!

Signing off,

Sel
