What say you?

Hey hey, me have come up with a few choices on what to wear for June's themed chalet-cum-party. Getting excited as June approaches....

Choices:

1. Bartender
-> still not sure what to wear for this; vest?

2. Yoga trainer
-> piece of cake; T-shirt, yoga pants, sports shoes, yoga mat

3. Tennis coach
-> piece of cake; Polo-T, shorts, sports shoes, tennis racket

4. Cow girl
-> Blouse, jeans, boots, cowboy hat, leather stuff (not sure what leather stuff though)

Realize it's easiest to come as a trainer/coach. hahaha...

Thought of the 4th choice cos I wanted to wear the boots which I bought from Taiwan. Like not much chance to wear boots in humid Singapore and a bit weird. So I thought... hmmm... here's the chance - finally I get to wear the boots!

Me more inclined towards choice 4. Thought it'll be quite cool.
Still open to suggestions. So what say you?

Face off 2!

Heyz! It's my turn! Finally have some time to do this. Aihua requested me to upload my faces, wahaha...

This is my original pic, one I took when I was swimming. :p
I chose this pic cos.... it is the only big-faced pic that I have with both eyes aligned to the horizontal. :p (pic removed cos... I don't like it :p)

< My baby face! Looks rather cute except for the high forehead. I insisted it looked like me when I was a baby but my sis feels strongly otherwise. Based on my child pics of cos, haha...

< My teenage pic. Looks reli like me when I was a teenager! I have pics as proof! (lazy to upload :p)

< My old adult pic. My gosh I can't imagine I wld have such a decomposed face when I grow old, this is too exaggerated. But nevertheless, this could be my face shape when I grow old. :( I could actually imagine that.

< My angmoh pic! Looks like a real angmoh huh? But a tad plump leh. Why can't I be Keira Knightly or Nicole Kidman? Wahaha...

< Ooh the Indian me! Doesn't seem to have much difference from my original pic IMO! Only the eyes are bigger and have darker eye bags. :p

< Ooooooh this pic is scary. It looks like me but doesn't feel like me. In fact it looks like my cousin. My sis says it looks a tad like someone. Shall not mention here whom it is, those who noe better zip your mouth. :p
But don't you think it looks like a normal guy pic? Like someone u would actually see on the street? Scary~~~~~...

< I like this pic. So prettaeeeee...... This is the Mucha version of me. Wateva that means. I have an appealing face shape in this pic.

< And finally,...... the manga version of me! So cute! I could aredi imagine her as the main character for some manga series! How BHB could I get? :p

Then for a change, I tried to use this pic below to transform my face (in which my face is slightly tilted):

And turned out that the baby and teen photos were too horrible to be shown. Apparently babies and teens are not entirely suited to put red lipstick and eyeshadow. :p Anyway they looked reli horrible, like those u see in horror shows. :p

The only 2 presentable ones are as seen below:

^I like this manga version of me. So sweet and demure! Gonna save this pic as a remembrance.

Vesak Day is coming in 2 days' time. Enjoy ur one day precious holiday!

Signing off,

Obviously Selene

Frogs

Love.flower: A meaningful story to share. =P

Once upon a time there was a bunch of tiny frogs.... who arranged a jumping competition. The goal was to reach the top of a very high tower.

A big crowd had gathered around the tower to see the race and cheer on the contestants....

The race began.... Honestly: No one in crowd really believed that the tiny frogs would reach the top of the tower. You heard statements such as:
"Oh, WAY too difficult!!"
"They will NEVER make it to the top."
or: "Not a chance that they will succeed. The tower is too high!"

The tiny frogs began collapsing. One by one....

Except for those, who in a fresh tempo, were climbing higher and higher....

The crowd continued to yell, "It is too difficult!!! No one will make it!"

More tiny frogs got tired and gave up.... But ONE continued higher and higher and higher.... This one wouldn't give up!

At the end, everyone else had given up climbing the tower. Except for the one tiny frog who, after a big effort, was the only one who reached the top!

All of the other tiny frogs naturally wanted to know how this one frog managed to do it. A contestant asked the tiny frog how he had found the strength to succeed and reach the goal? It turned out.... That the winner was DEAF!!!!

The wisdom of this story is:
Never listen to other people's tendencies to be negative or pessimistic.... because they take your most wonderful dreams and wishes away from you -- the ones you have in your heart!

Always think of the power words have. Because everything you hear and read will affect your actions! Therefore: ALWAYS be.... POSITIVE! And above all: Be DEAF when people tell YOU that you cannot fulfill your dreams!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most people walk in and out of your life......but FRIENDS leave footprints in your heart. In two days, tomorrow will be yesterday. Today is no special day and I have no particular reason for writing to you... I have no news to tell you.... nor any problems to discuss with you.... or gossip to tell you... It's only one of those happy moments... when I thought of you... and I would like to share these thoughts with you...
My 1st ever blog entry
Exciting exciting. It's the first time I log on to our blog and read all your entries. Decided I should start contributing also. Smile. 1st entry so nothing fanciful.
Went for gum surgery yesterday. Did a LA and was hell painful. Almost cried out loud. Luckily the dentist (a 'she') was a good one. Kept on encouraging and assuring me that I was doing well. After a minute, realized that I was not completely numb. Gave me another shot. Op started for a while then in the middle of it, she started drilling on my gums. Don't worry couldn't feel a thing by then. But the drilling sound was horrible and I started wondering what the hell was going on in my mouth. Occasionally the assistent would wide my mouth (cos of the blood spurting out I guess). Half an hour later, dentist smiled and told me op done.
Anyway she intended to give me 5 days MC but told her no need so many. In the end, she gave me 2 days MC (excl. weekends). But still I intend to go back to work on Mon PM lah. Cos there's really nothing to MC abt. See what a 'GOOD' worker I am =)
Had a banana shake for lunch before op cos was busy preparing for PM presentation. Dinner was a cup of thick milo (2 sackets). Gum was damn painful. This morning woke up with more behaving gums. Managed to gobble down a packet of chee cheong fun but through swallowing. No lunch. Told mum I wanted to eat fried chicken for dinner. Hahaaha. Really got urge to eat all the fried stuff. Gotta wait at least a week I think before I can eat normally and heartily.
It's a long 1st time contribution, ain't it. Hahaahahah... Regreting me coming on board? Too late =P Will try to write more often. No promises though. You know me. Haha.
left on the shelf?
Today, i spoke to a 'gentleman' about being left on the shelf. he didnt help in making me feel better. on the contrary, i felt like crap, shit, manure, defecation, excretion... it really hit a sore spot, my Achilles heel. i am damn scared.
oh btw, if i am to be left on the shelf, i thought i'd choose a nice one like the one above.
if i am doomed to such a fate, i think it is time to think of my future and not daydream anymore.
1) make a deal with any guy to get married so that society can treat us normally. no more bothersome questions from relatives on festivals. we can hold our head up high.
2) be a swinging single and employ cute gigolos/professionals as boyfriends to hang on my arm. basically it is to show off lah.
3) migrate to another country where no one gives a damn if you are single, a mistress or a lesbian
4) be a lesbian. come to think of it, if we girls are always complaining that guys are insensitive and blah blah blah, then hooking up a girl would work right? i mean physically, there's a prob, but hey....
5) continue to daydream and ignore people's comments and hurtful remarks.
i welcome any more constructive suggestions. for myself and my other misguided single girlfriends.
tick tock tick tock...
loveflower: the invitation card that i have done up for the chalet... so exciting!! cant wait to go for the party and have fun =>
actually, i have kind of forgotten about my childhood ambition... hmm.... deep in thought.... did i have one?? maybe i dont...
vaguely remember the time when i need to submit the what-do-you-want-to-be-when-you-grow-up essay, i just simply wrote down the standard ambitions that are expected for a kid.... you know like being a teacher or a doctor or a nurse or an engineerer or something like what your parents are doing... didnt give it much thought... didnt do anything about it...
and thus i grew up and studied/did things/live the kind of life that people expect you to do and not what you really want... did you know that i had intended to study a course in hotel management after A-level?? changed my mind cos SG did not have such a course then and it's pretty expensive to go for overseas studies... thus settled for business course as it's the closest and the most general and partly becos i dont know what else i want to do or can do... hmm.... i must admit that i am really a gal without any ambition in life
aniwae, back to the theme party... guess i would turn up in whatever costume that i can lay my hands on conveniently bah. hahahaha...
How does the arrow work??
Loveflower: very interesting and funnie!... really take my hat off for the person who came up with the idea. check out how the arrow of the mouse works yah... remember to do single click, double click and rapid movement over the grey circle... =P
How does the small arrow on your computer monitor work when we move the mouse?
Haven't you ever wondered how it works?
Now, through the miracle of high technology, we can see how it is done.
With the aid of a screen-magnifying lens, the mechanism becomes apparent.
Click on the link below and you will find out.
The image may take a minute or two to download and when it appears, slowly move your mouse over the light-gray circle, and you will see how the magic works.
New Hobby Announcement
Introducing my latest craze: Nail decoration
yeah yeah, i can just imagine your appalled look, complete with mouth agape and rolling eyes. whatever. to each his own. you walk your golden road, i walk my rickety wooden bridge. you get the idea.
as some of you would notice, i colour my nails often. it gets boring to have a layer of colour only. to the next level, i do my own french mani/pedi. then i dot them to create flowers and patterns. i proceed to glue diamond-like stone. hopefully, i will go on to achieve something like the one above.
not really an expensive hobby, it requires a lot of creativity (i prefer imitating a.k.a. copying), practising (my mom was my guinea pig) and time (loads of it, i have).
so now you know the reason of my constant home stay. =)
Complexion perfection anyone??
Love.flower: An interesting read recommended by zhong! and his advice... Seems like twice a day cleansing, sunscreen, moisturiser, Vit A cream and glycolic peel are the way to go!
I should seriously start to look after my skin already... Must maintain my youthful look mah... hahaha... It's a bit the expensive to go for so many facial sessions you know... So i should invest in essential items for my daily beauty regime. hahahaha... Lucky the pimple gel that i bought just now contains glycolic acid... check! The toner that i got contains witch hazel which is good enough to tone my skin... check! Would pop down to John Little soon as there's a sales going on, 20% off all toiletries... I am in need of a sunscreen for my face and body too... it's so freaking SUNNY for the past few days... I'm even thinking of wearing my sunglasses just to cross the road from my office to the hawker centre (which is like less than 5min walk) so that i can protect my eyes from the binding sunlight lor... omg!! and not to forget about the Vitamin A/Retin A cream too...
What the doctor ordered
Three dermatologists share their everyday prescriptions for complexion perfection.
Extract : What do you recommend for your patients?
Dermatologist 2:
I recommend inexpensive, easy-to-find and non-perfumed products like Avene. I ask patients to cleanse morning and night, then protect their skin. Basically a moisturiser puts back the lipid barrier that protects the top layer of the skin and a broad-spectrum sunscreen protects from UVA and UVB rays.
Then I ask, 'Do you want to rejuvenate your skin?' If so, you need some form of epidermal turnover so the new healthy skin cells are coming to the surface using something like glycolic acid peels or Retin A cream. This should be an easy non-irritating procedure. To counteract irritation, use the product half-strength, two or three times a week and build it up. It's long-term use which is most beneficial.
Dermatologist 3:
I give patients a list of three to four product choices from brands like L'Oréal, Neutrogena, Clinique and Avene and most of these products are under $50, many under $30. For problem skin I recommend starting with a liquid cleanser as too much washing with a regular alkaline soap can increase bacteria numbers and worsen acne, as can scrubs. Then I suggest an oil-free moisturiser and sunscreen. The pill helps with adult-onset acne, but has a long lag time. It can be six months to a year before acne is suppressed. Antibiotics are only a short-term measure for quick control and then the skin improvement needs to be maintained by AHA or BHA (beta hydroxy acid) products or prescription creams like Retin A. Finally, regular glycolic acid peels give good improvement (but at a cost) especially for quick results before a wedding, etc.
Sweet (or lusty) dreams are made of these
Lyrics from Eurythmics, totally described this fella when i saw him...
Saw him last night in America's Next Top Model as a guest model. The theme was romance novel covers and who else to swoon over but this man, Fabio Lanzoni. He has been gracing romance novels since 90s.
i remembered i used to blush when i saw all his novel covers in second hand book stores. that was in secondary school days. now? i dun dare to pick up these books still, paiseh. anyway, the drawings of a big, strong, half-naked guy in various state of undress/close embrace with a swooning woman... most of the books, it's him.
today, he still looked like he stepped out of the book covers. all long hair, muscular, sharply dressed... words like duke, earl, marquess, viscount, etc., come into mind. but you can see that his skin is approaching paper thin and more facial lines but nevertheless, when he suits up in boots, ties up his hair, wah lau.
i am not lusting after him, for goodness sake. i am just sharing something interesting with you. really.
fair is foul and foul is fair
remember what is the next line? *snigger*
(hint: macbeth)
why am i quoting this? basically is because my mood has been rather foul, not grumpy or suicidal, just rather down. why?
mabbe is because of the gloomy weather, the lack of adrenaline during work, the aimlessness, the pms, the lack of inspiration....
i can't pinpoint the source but i do not seek ur solution.
perhaps i need a holiday or a shopping splurge(tsk tsk) or a wake-up call.
anyway, i did something to the right panel of the blog. more options to play around with. but that's for another day.
