Flower Arrangement Border Card

Today's card is a card for a friend and I am using the new Altenew stamp I have called Flower Arrangement.  This is a layering stamp, which can sometimes be a bit of a challenge to line up perfectly, but this one is super easy. 

They have made a little bump in the middle part of the larger flower and a pointy bit on the medium flower, so they match up easily.  Also the style is quite loose and un-perfect anyway, so it doesn't matter if you get it a little wrong, they still look great!

I am using the Altenew crisp ink mini cube sets, so the colour combos are already done for you.  I have used the Red Cosmos, Shades of purple, glacier caves, Green fields, summer afternoon, Mango smoothie from the four scoops set, and the pinks out of the northern light set. 

I am using a 5" x 7" linen base, so I drew  out a rectangle slightly smaller than that on a piece of card, so I could use that as a guide to where I wanted the stamps, and where I was eventually going to trim it to. 

 The misti makes these layering stamps so easy, so I used that, and worked my way around the entire border of the card, using the large and medium flowers and all the layers and mixing up the colours.  Some few of the areas, I left a bit of a gap between flowers, to allow for more of the foliage, but some I masked off and stamped overlap, so that it would look like some flowers were behind others.  Once  the flowers were done, I went around and stamped the two parts of the flower centres for both sizes with acrylic blocks, as that was quicker. Then back to the misti and using masks stamped some of the two sizes of leaves, mostly poking out underneath of the flowers. 

The next thing was to stamp my sentiment.  I then embossed a stitched line just inside my pencil line with a stitched border die.  I did this first before cutting, as in the past when I have cut it first then done the stitched line, the edge of the card can get stretched and out of shape, if you do it first and then trim, you get a lovely neat stitched line. 

Finally just to stick on the trimmed panel to the base card, and it is finished.  I didn't put any sparkles on this one, I wanted to keep it as a single layered card this time.  I have been doing a lot of dimension in my cards lately, so was nice for a change.

If you enjoy layering stamps, you might enjoy using whichever ones you have to do something similar.  Any of them will work with this border design, so give it a go. I love the mixture of colours, although you could do it with just a couple of colour combinations, I am sure that would look good too.

Box for floral card

I have made a video on how I make my boxes for my floral shabby chic cards. 

I don't have any measurements to give you, as I make the boxes to fit the cards I have already made. I work out how high the sides need to be depending on the depth of the flowers on the card, and then use the card to measure the size the box needs to be.

Floral Shabby Chic Card

I have another of my floral shabby chic cards, 

The background paper I have used a paper out of the Lemoncraft Painted Heart 6 x 6 pad, they are such pretty papers.

I gathered up another couple of papers that I thought went with it and tore one of them and the bottom of the floral paper and ruffed them all up around the edges. 

Then glued them on on top of the other but put a border die between the top and second papers.  A doily die cut on top of that and I was ready to start doing my floral spray.

I have used a selection of Wild Orchid mulberry flowers and some tiny paper rose, and then some die cut leaves in a couple of green papers and arranged them around the top right of the doily.  

Lastly a sentiment on a scalloped oval tag, a butterfly die cut, a few pink gems and a resin angel and the card was finished.

Ewe have my heart Valentine card - cutsie

This is my last Valentine card this year, a cutsie one this time, and quite an easy one to produce.

I started by stamping a small piece of card with the roses all over background stamp and then also stamped the sheep with the heart from the Ewe are the best stamp set and also a sentiment from that same stamp set.

Next I ink blended a background with spun sugar and squeezed lemonade distress inks onto Strathmore Bristol smooth water colour paper. In my opinion this is the best card for distress blending, it is so smooth and effortless!

I coloured in the sheep and the rose background with Zig real brush clean colour markers (a gift to myself for Christmas seen my channel is doing so well!). Not a lot of colour, and nothing fancy.  I fussy cut out the sheep and made the sentiment into a banner, I also cut a heart shape out of the rose background with a heart die

To put the card together by sticking the distress inked card panel down with double-sided tape, put some foam tape on the back of the heart, sheep and sentiment banner, and put them all onto the top third of the card.  I feel this is the most pleasing to the eye, instead of slap bang in the middle of the card.

A few clear sparkling sequins and the card was complete.

Foiled Valentine card

Hello, Welcome back and Happy New Year. Hopefully 2018 is going to be a great year, with lots of cards and chit chats.

I am starting off this year with a couple of Valentine cards, this one I am using foil and the wonderful Deco foil transfer gel I discovered last year.

I started off with a card base 5 X 7 inches in pink, a panel that was a smidgen smaller and another spare piece that I will foil and then cut my heart shape out. 

I started off by using the stencil and the foil transfer gel, and spread a thin layer over the stencil onto the front panel down the left side and on the small spare piece and set that aside to dry.  Once dry ( you can tell when it is, as it goes completely clear and shiney) I put a strip of red deco foil over each piece and ran it through my Minc machine.  

I cut out the red scalloped square with a die to go behind the foiled heart, cut the heart shape out from the spare foiled piece with a heart die, stamped a sentiment, made it into a banner and backed that with the same red card as the scallped square die cut. 

I stuck the foiled front panel straight down on the card base with double sided tape, put some craft foam on the back of the scalloped square and heart die cuts and stuck them on to the card panel towards the top half. Did the same for the sentiment.

Finally a little red satin bow and a tiny heart shaped gem and that was the card finished. 

Quite quick to do but the foiling makes it so sparkly.... I like sparkly!!!

Winter Scene with Sleigh Card

This card turned out to be a little more complicated than I had first thought, as my cards often do,  when I dreamed it up in my head! I knew how I wanted the end result to look like, but the reality is often more than I think it is going to be.  

Anyway, I won't bore you with the details, If you want to see the circus that unfolded, then watch the video attached, I will give you the details of how to go about making this card here. 

I started off by cutting out a card base with a large stitched square die, and then cut two frames out using 2 stitched dies and one inside and outside stitched die, Making one a bit fatter than the first one.  

Next I cut a variety of trees with dies, it doesn't matter what kind you have, any of the tree dies that you might have will work.  Also I cut a couple of snow slopes out of white glitter paper, with two slope border dies, but again if you didn't have these dies then you could just freehand cut them with scissors.  

Next I put some liquid glue around the edges of the tree, and sprinkled some chunky glitter onto that and put them aside to dry.  

Once they were dry, I was able to take each frame, half the trees and a snow slope, and glue them together to make a scene when I put the two frames together later.  I just needed them made, so that I could decide where I wanted my moon and sleigh for the background.  

The background I made a mask with a circle die and some masking paper, and decided by putting the frames together, where I wanted the moon to be, stuck that down on my background card, and then did some distress inking to make a blended background.  I made sure I didn't go too dark, as I wanted the sleigh to still be seen.  

Once that was done, peeled the masking off and left it to dry, but you could hurry that up by drying the ink with your heat tool.  It needs to be totally dry before doing the stamping and embossing.  

I stamped the sleigh with black ink using the misti, as I wanted a really dark image, so stamped it 2 or 3 times.  Then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  While the misti was out, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of card and cut it out to make a banner.  I cut out the background with the same outside sized square die the same as the frames. 

This is where it went a bit pear shaped, as the thin foam tape I used for dimension between the frames was super sticky and I got in a bit of a mess!

Anyway with foam tape between the first and second frames, and between the second frame and the background gave a little bit of dimension. Once they were done, I could stick the scene onto the card base, and the sentiment on with some foam tape as well and that is the card finished.  

I see I still have the pencil line for where I wanted to put my mask on this last photo.  I did go back and rub that out LOL.

This card shows the versatility of having some basic dies such as square nesting dies, slope dies and trees to make a scene, this could equally be a general card not necessarily a Christmas card. I like to put my money into dies that I can used for a variety of purposes.

Blended ink panel Snowflake cards

This card is another fairly easy one, and if you like doing colour blending like I do, it is a quick and enjoyable to do.

Both cards are done with the same technique, just the blue one I have done a rectangular panel and the purple one I have done a strip panel.

I masked off the area I wanted to do the ink blending, with either post-it notes or masking paper, to give a nice crisp edge to the blending and to protect the white spaces of the card.

I have blended the colours with distress inks and a mini blending tool, and have used Strathmore bristol smooth water colour paper to do the fronts so that it would blend nicely.  

Once I had done the ink blending, I did the sentiments with black ink and clear embossing powder.  Finally I stamped the snowflake stamps onto and overhanging the inked panels with clear versamark ink and gold glitter embossing powder, using the misti, so that I could stamp them all at once.  On reflection, I think maybe the snowflakes would have stood out more if I had used just ordinary gold embossing powder, so there was more of a contrast. Not sure.

Finally I stuck the panels onto the card bases with double sided tape and the cards are finished.  

This would be quite an easy card to mass produce and is a little more modern for a Christmas card.
