2012 Here we come!!!

Happy New Year! So looking forward to 2012. It's a different year for us. Scott is in a new job, Ashley is a Senior is High School and we are wondering what the Army has in store for us. Its funny to be 21 years into a military career and to really not be sure of what is coming next. We seem to be in the hurry up and wait phase of our life.
My new job has become the task master for Scholarship and University applications. The applications are in and we have heard back from two out of three. Ashley has been accepted to BYU Idaho and Utah State University. She is waiting to hear back from BYU Utah, but they usually don't announce until some time in February.
After a quick trip to Utah and tours of both USU and BYU, Ashley has taken quite a liking to USU.
Since we as her parents proudly graduated from USU we have no problem with her current choice. We need to keep feeling out those scholarship applications and making plans but it is definitely and exciting time.
I look around and wonder how I became old enough to have a daughter getting ready to go to college!
Something I have come to realize is that I really like this age. I am confident in who I am but way more peaceful about how things go around me. Don't get me wrong I would love to to have a 20 year old body to go along with this 40 something year old mind.
Scott started off this year is a cast. He had shoulder surgery on the 13th of December and has spent the Christmas break recovering. I hate that our together time is spent because he is recovering but I will take it!!!
Joshua is busy working for and planning on going on a sailing and scuba adventure in the Florida Keys this summer.
Taylor is our athlete. When she is not working out as a gymnast she has really taken to running.
As I type Ashley is away at A Civil Air Patrol winter leadership encampment at Tyndall Air Force Base. We haven't spoken to her in a week and I can't wait to pick her up at graduation tomorrow and to hear about all of her adventures. I guess a little taste of her being gone but can't wait to hug her tomorrow!
I end 2011 truly grateful for my Heavenly Father, My Savior Jesus Christ and for the blessing of my Eternal companion Scott and my kids!

Current Endeavors

Karyn
Just to add a little more fun to my life I added Boot Camp at the Gym to my list. I must say the soreness after four days is a reminder of how out of shape I am. The first week was fun and motivational though! We worked out on the beach out at the lake with sandbags and running and all sorts of painful exercises! Good Times!

Scott
Scott just went flying with a new student. Flat Stanley was sent for a trip to Alabama by a our niece Adri! He also shot a buck the 2nd to the last day of hunting season so the mighty hunter conquers!
Joshua
Joshua has just started his Eagle Project. He has been playing his trumpet in a show band for a show choir and has been traveling and practicing a lot! He just made the all state band!

Ashley
Ashley has enjoyed driving the past three weeks and having her own wheels to go back and forth to school. She has saved mom a lot of back and for the trips!
Taylor
Taylor has spent all of January with Bronchitis. Breathing treatments and trips to the doctor have kept us busy. She is finally feeling better. She is working on her level five routines in Gymnastics for competing this year!

Catch Up!

Hello All,
Thank you to my friend Kathryn for reminding the fun of keeping a blog and having those memories documented in our lives! I look back at my last post and think of all this year has brought. Our family continues to not have very many dull moments. Our summer/fall was filled with Marching Band, Gymnastics, Driving lessons, Scuba Diving, Fishing, Hunting, and so much more. Scott's Battalion Command time continues to fly by. Sharing this adventure together has been something we wouldn't trade for the world. Scott comes home everyday enthused and sometimes exhausted from the challenge! He loves being with and training the troops! I am still enjoying my greatest joy, challenge, and adventure of being a mom! The driving, waiting, encouraging, supporting, loving and busyness of it all is something I wouldn't change. Especially with my best friend and love of my life by my side!
Thanks to all my friends who put up with me on my thick and thin of keeping in touch!
Love,
Karyn

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

A fun book our family was skeptical about reading and we all ended up really enjoying it! It was a clever tale!
Taylor even dressed as one of the characters "Scarlett" for a book character contest at school.
It almost makes you want to live in a graveyard almost...
