So, Dave was invited on an all expenses paid bow hunt in Mississippi. I was super excited for him. He left early (like 1:00 a.m.) on Thursday morning (Oct. 11th) and didn't get back until Sunday night (October 14th).
We have one employee, Patrick, that works full time for us (for
Silencer Shop). He too, was going to be gone on Friday & Saturday. So, I was going to have to run
Silencer Shop alone on Friday & Saturday. I was a little nervous because it has really grown. (In fact, Dave is quitting his real job, programming, to do
Silencer Shop full time. His last day is October 24th.)
Not to mention, I had volunteered to help out at a "Super Saturday" for our church. I was responsible for cutting out the vinyl for these three crafts (with my
Cricut):
Thursday morning (the day Dave left), Taylor came down and said, "I think I have lice." Sure enough, she did. And it. was. bad. We've lived here for 10 years and have never had lice before, although it is very common. I headed to Walgreen's to get a treatment. Meanwhile, Taylor was home putting everything in trash bags. You have to bag up all of your throw pillows, stuffed animals, etc. (anything you cannot wash). You then have to wash & dry everything, and vacuum everywhere! It is
a lot of work. We did the treatment, then spent 3 hours combing through her hair removing all of the eggs we could find (the treatment doesn't kill the eggs). Both Taylor & Carter had well child visits that day, so we headed to the doctor. He said that if she had it, we all probably had it. So, he checked me . . . yep, I had it too! And then he checked Carter . . . yep. Him too. I was trying not to cry. We stopped by Walgreen's on our way home and bought more treatments. We did a treatment on Carter, Lauren, & I. Then I buzzed Carter's head, as I didn't have time to pick through his hair too. I had about 50 loads of laundry, and had not even begun cutting out the vinyl, which I knew was a big project. I had 40 orders to cut and each order took my machine about 30 minutes to cut.
Friday, I managed to handle
Silencer Shop okay. I also worked on cutting vinyl. And did lots of laundry. Friday night, I was up until 3:00 a.m. cutting vinyl. It needed to be finished by 9:00 a.m Saturday and I was only half way done, but I was fried. So, I went to bed until 6:00 a.m. and then got up and started cutting again. I didn't finish. I showed up at the "Super Saturday" late, and when I walked in, I started to cry. I felt so stupid. But, it worked out. I brought my
Cricut to the church and kept cutting there. My machine ran all day Saturday and I was able to finish by that evening. Thank goodness everyone was so understanding!
I have spent the last week, cleaning, doing laundry, and combing through hair. I think we have FINALLY gotten rid of the lice. And everything is FINALLY cleaned up. All my laundry is finished & I'm finally finished cleaning my house. It was an awful week . . . I don't think I've ever cried so much!
:) But, on a positive note, Dave did have a great time bow hunting!
