Double Digits

Ten years ago, we were loving on this sweetie pie...
Can you believe she's already ten years old? Yep, it's true...last Tuesday she hit the big 1-0...
Grandma & Grandpa came over to celebrate with us...
Taylor played Hedbanz with her...
...and we all enjoyed cake...
She wanted me to make her an ice cream cake but I had been sick for a couple of days and just didn't have it in me. So, we splurged and bought a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Blizzard Cake from Dairy Queen. It was good!
Grandpa made her a jewelry box...
...and Dad made sure she got 10 spanks and a pinch to grow an inch...

Happy Birthday Lauren! We love you!

Great Wolf Lodge

The kids were out of school February 7-9th so my friend Laurie & I took the kids to the Great Wolf Lodge for a couple days like last year, remember? We left the hubby's home cuz' they had to work. ~Carter, Lauren, Katelyn, & Zackary~

Laurie didn't want her picture taken...
...I think she was worried I would put it on Facebook or something...I told her I'd never do that! :)

Enjoying lunch, pool side...
Carter said, "they have the best hamburgers ever...I bet that's why people keep coming back!"

Basketball

Our Saturdays have been filled watching Lauren & Carter play basketball. Lauren is improving each week, learning lots, and is loving it! It is so fun to see their personalities come through on the court. Lauren is a "gentle giant" but is learning that it's okay to be a little aggressive and try to steal the ball. :)

~Lauren & Katelyn~

Lauren (#7) dribbles it in...

...and takes the shot!
Carter absolutely loves basketball. It is his favorite sport by far and he practices constantly. He has improved so much in the last year. He is the point guard this season. He makes us smile as he runs down the court with a big smile on his face. He is much more confident this year and has no problem being aggressive on the court! :)
Carter is also loving having Grandpa around to take him to the UT basketball games! Carter is a mini Grandpa...which can be endearing or a little irritating! :) They have a special bond, which I love. Carter thinks Grandpa hung the moon. Yesterday, Carter was having an eye exam done and told the doctor that "his Grandpa was famous in Wyoming because he is the best coach they've ever had and that he's even in the Wyoming Coaches Hall of Fame which proves it!" Isn't that cute! :)

~Grandpa & Carter~

He told me he "can't decide if he wants to play for the NFL or the NBA but is leaning towards the NBA!" I didn't have the heart to tell him that he better have a back up plan! :)

While we were sleeping...

...it snowed!

(Hopefully our garden doesn't die.)

Not a lot but enough to cancel school! Yippee!

You know you're a redneck when...

...you wear 3 hats, a scarf around your face, a thermal shirt under your hoodie and winter parka, 2 pairs of pants under your 20 year old ski pants, your daughters "real tree" hunting mittens, wool socks under your daughters hunting socks, and your daughters insulated hunting boots to work.
It's been cold here (16 degrees...which is cold when you're not used to it!) and I've had to stand outside crossing kids (most whom are wearing shorts with a hoodie because they don't want to look "stupid") for an hour every morning. So, laugh all you want passing cars, I'm warm! Lauren refuses to wear her warm winter coat as she thinks it's too puffy and makes her look fat. What? Ridiculous...that's what I say! Obviously, my lack of vanity has not rubbed off on her. :) Taylor will only wear a hoodie too but, only because her locker is a giant mess and a coat won't fit. But Carter, he dresses something like this...
That's my boy! He's not worried about "looking stupid" one bit! :)

It's supposed to snow here tonight. Yippee! We're all keeping our fingers crossed...
