Twilight Camp

Carter had "Twilight Camp" for Scouts this week. Tonight was family night. It was fun despite the 103 degree weather! Here's a few pictures...

Taylor with baby Isabelle... My girls were fascinated with her. Lauren said, "I wish we could have a baby, but don't tell Dad." She knows he doesn't want another baby! :) Isabelle is three weeks old...you forget how tiny they are!

The highlight for Carter was the boat races. They had to blow their boats.

"Blow Carter Blow!" Afterwards he said, "I'm dizzy!"

Taylor & Carter's Piano Recital

Taylor was really nervous. She said her hands were shaking through the whole song. Usually she doesn't really get nervous but for some reason tonight was different for her. We think they both did great. Just hit the "play button" to see for yourself!

Tonight Dave took Carter Kayaking...
Here's a short video clip...just press play!

Father's Day

For Father's Day we went to Dallas to visit Dave's brother, Andy, who flew in from Portland, Oregon for a conference. We also got to see his Grandparents and Aunt Marsha. Dave's sister, Katrina, also drove up to see everyone. Dave's Grandpa has been fighting Leukemia for the past year and had been hospitalized for the past several days. On our way to the hospital to see him, we learned he was going to be discharged so he ended up getting to come to dinner with everyone. We really enjoyed seeing everyone and had a nice day.
Great Grandpa Johnson and his Great Grand kids! While he was at the hospital he had to wear a mask...the kids thought it was fun to wear one of their own.

Katrina's Husband, Kevin, is in Iraq and will be gone for a year. I take my hat off to them as I know it's not an easy time for their family.

I hope y'all had a Happy Father's Day!

Lauren Does it Again!

So, last night Dave and I were just drifting off to sleep (around midnight) when we hear a faint cry...then our house alarm going off. Lauren was sleep walking and left the house via the front door. I jumped out of bed and ran outside (in my underwear mind you) to grab her. She was in our driveway and completely disoriented. I asked her what she was doing and she couldn't answer as she was still sleeping. I took her back to her bed and tucked her in. She was up several more times but didn't leave the house again. She has no recollection this morning. I am so thankful we have an alarm! Last summer Lauren did the same thing...you can read about it here. I think being over tired triggers these instances. Early to bed tonight for our sweetie!

Danskin Triathlon

Today I did my first triathlon. It started at 7:00 a.m. My girfriends and I left at 4:45 a.m. to get there. I went to bed at 10:00 p.m. last night but I could not fall asleep...I didn't fall asleep until 3:30 a.m. and I had to get up at 4:15 a.m. Do the math. My mind was racing and I was nervous, excited, anxious...you name it. I woke up with a headache and pit in my stomach but once I started the race, I was fine. I was worried that I wouldn't have enough energy on such little sleep, but adrenaline is an amazing thing! It was a 1/2 mile swim (in a lake), 12 mile bike, and 5K (3.1 miles) run. My goal was to finish, not to worry about times, but I wanted to finish in under 2 hours...I finished in 1 hour 54 minutes. It was such a neat experience...I think I'm hooked! :) Here's a bunch of pictures but first a little disclaimer...**the tri-suits are NOT flattering** You have been warned! :)

The kids and I before the race... Dave got everyone up at 5:30 a.m., made them french toast, got them ready, and came to support me!

Getting ready to swim...there were over 2,000 women competing. We were divided by age group and each heat consisted of 100 women. My heat left at 7:30 a.m."Cone head"

I just finished the swim...

Time to bike...

Crossing the Finish Line...The kids ran with me across the finish line. The run was the most challenging part for me as I am not a strong runner and don't like to run!

WOO-HOO...We did it!!!!!

My friend Laurie did it last year too and has been such a great support for me. I couldn't have done it without you girl! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

They wrote your race number all over your body and your age was written on your calf. My numbers smeared when I put on sun screen.

Packed up and ready to head home...

Afterwards, we went to lunch with Laurie's family at Red Robin then came home and slept!

A Fun Visitor

Last week my friend Liz came for a few days and stayed with us. She moved to Colorado last August and we have missed her! We went to lunch a couple times and had fun catching up. I just wish she could have stayed longer. It was great to see you Liz...we miss you already!
