Playing with Photoshop

I've been playing around with photoshop lately. Actually it's become quite an addiction for me, I need to stop. But here are some things that I did on photo shop. I really like how these pictures turned out. The baby pictures of Ashley and Kaitlyn are aroung the same age - the smaller on being a couple days old and the bigger one being about 1.5 months old. I can't believe Kaitlyn's already a month and a half!

Ashley's room

So, we finally got around to painting Ashley's room. This project (like all the other projects in our house) I fully intended on having completed a long time ago. Ashley loves her room. However, she gets freaked out by the monkey hanging on the wall at night time, so every night at bed time, we have to take the monkey down.

Big Sister

Ashley has been such a good big sister! She loves Kaitlyn and gets so excited when she is awake, sneezes, or hiccups. She loves to kiss her little hands. She is also such a good helper to mommy. She was so good while I was staying in bed for the first week. She happily kept herself busy with her toys and books and danced in and out of my room to visit me and Kailtyn. A couple days she even decided to put herself down for a nap since mommy was busy resting herself and taking care of Kaitlyn. I have the best little girls! They are so sweet!

Kaitlyn at 2 weeks

Here're some cute pictures of Kaitlyn at 2 weeks. On the 3rd picture, I'm sure that's a genuine smile and not just gas.

Welcome Kaitlyn

On New Years Eve, I went to work as usual - since I felt fine after a false alarm of labor the previous Thursday. Al & I had just planned on going to bed after we watched a movie together with Ashley. We had no plans to stay up for the new year. As we were watching the movie, I was thinking about how I kept telling everyone that I was sure the baby would come by the new year, and how that would probably not happen. Soon after putting Ashley to bed (around 9:50pm), I felt a pretty strong contraction. I noted the time and waited for the next contraction, which came about 10 minutes later. After that, the contractions started coming strong and frequently with no other warning than the first contraction 10-15 minutes prior. I told Al to grab the phone so I could call the midwife and told him to get his parents on the phone so they could come over to be with Ashley. Melicia, the midwife on call was at the hospital taking care of two other women in labour and debated having me come into the hospital as well. (my plan had been to deliver in the Birthing Center). After calling Barbara, the other midwife (who delivered Ashley), she decided she would meet me in the birthing center. Al couldn't get in touch with his parents - who were at a New Years Eve party. We called around and found the Ashby's from church available to come be with Ashley. We drove in to the birthing center about 10:40pm. Barbara drove in right behind us. Kaitlyn was delivered at 11:12pm - before the attending nurse could even make it into the Birthing Center. She was a healthy 7 lbs. 6 oz., and 19.5 inches tall.
At the Birthing Center, a typical after delivery stay lasts no more than about 5-6 hours. We were back home by 5am. Crazy you say? On the contrary, it was nice not to be poked and prodded every 2 hours like they do at the hospital. I slept so good those first couple days when I was home. Also, it was a fun surprise to invite Ashley into our room that morning to introduce her to her new baby sister. To which she responded "she came out of your belly?"
