Off to Cortez...

We packed up and headed to see Grandma Hager for a week. On our way we picked up a horse trailer for a friend of Grandpa Don’s – it added 3 hours onto our trip, but everything worked out okay in the end.

On the way over the mountain pass both boys good car sick – this was not fun, but at least we made it out of the truck before things went flying. The boys handled it much better than I did.
We took the boys bowling for the first time. They did awesome, but mostly I think they just liked wearing the “special bowling shoes”.

We also went for at least 2 rides on the 4 wheeler each day…enjoying many great adventures. And spent a lot of time in the garden - picking, gathering and eating.
Jacoby celebrated his 3rd birthday on the 12th. We filled his room with balloons so they would be ready for him when he got up, he had candles and the birthday song at each meal/snack (including party hats), he opened gifts, he went out for a special dinner with Grandpa Don and enjoyed having all of everyone’s attention! We were thrilled to share with him many of our special memories of his life over the past 3 years – what a wonderful blessing he has been to everyone!

Of course the trip wouldn’t be complete without a trip to the ranch for some horseback riding. Jacoby got to ride all by himself – it’s a good thing because you know ‘that’s what 3 year olds do’.  :) Everyone had a great time riding – even mom.

Our visit went too fast! Grandma Hager was wonderful as always. She sure has a special place in the hearts of all of us! We’ll see you next time Grandma Hager!

Abundantly

Thought we could all use a reminder...

God's way is the abundant way!

There's no rationing in heaven, no skimping from the throne, no shortage of supply from the treasures of His mercies. His life gushes forth from the well of salvation; His spiritual refreshing flows from rivers of living water; His constant and consistent goodness is poured out through downpours of blessings.

He is the God of
abundant mercy Numbers 14:18
abundant kindness Nehemiah 9:17
abundant justice Job 37:23
abundant truth Psalms 86:15
abundant redemption Psalms 130:7
abundant loving kindness Jonah 4:2
abundant grace 1 Timothy 1:14
abundant satisfaction Psalms 36:8
abundant blessing Psalms 132:15
abundant pardon Isaiah 55:7
abundant life John 10:10
abundant joy 2 Corinthians 8:2
abundant power Ephesians 3:20
abundant outpouring Titus 3:6
abundant revelation Hebrews 6:17
abundant provision Psalms 65:11
abundant peace Psalms 37:11

FUN Leaning!

I found these great little cutters that allow the boys to learn how to cut up their own food. They love being able to do things by themselves!

Time for Monday Bingo - this has helped the boys learn what each coin is and how much each is worth... All in a fun game!

Clean up time. Now they can clean up the floor after each meal. It's funny because they fight over who is going to clean up. Many parents I know just get in the pattern of doing everything for their children, but i think we are robing them of essential life tools (in many areas) when we do that - PLUS they love helping and taking care of each other.

Never too early to give!

Our family was enjoying Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, CO when someone caught the interest of our 2 year old Lexen. Earlier in the night Lexen was given a blue, paper $1 bill from one of the street performers. As we were walking, he saw this young guy singing and playing the guitar - Lexen froze in place to intently listen. After about 5 minutes Lexen started digging in his pocket to give his $1 to the man. His generous heart and kind spirit brought tears to the eyes of everyone watching. Remember that your children/grandchildren are watching what you do... show kindness, generosity, love and they will do the same.

Summer Play

Painting the dog. Bella is such a trooper!
A dolphin jumping through the waves... not bad!
I found a fun setting on my camera phone! Too bad I can't figure out how I did it!
