A Special Playdate

We spent the morning playing with Grandma Engel. The boys love spending time with her. We went to the park, the library and they even got to ride on Grandma's chair. It was a beautiful day and we are thankful for the time we get to spend with those we love.

Father's Day Camping Trip

We spent Father’s Day camping. This was Jacoby’s first camping trip. We had been telling the boys for a couple of days that we were going camping – we assumed they knew what that meant. When we got to our site and had everything set up, Jacoby looks around and says, “When are we going camping?” it was priceless.

The boys had a blast riding their red car as fast as they could down the steep, bumpy dirt roads. It looked so fun that dad and mom had to give it a try. Little Tikes makes very durable toys that’s for sure!

Shan also set up some climbing ropes for them to monkey around on. They found lots of things to keep them busy, like, digging for snakes, playing with the ants, breaking branches off the trees, roping things, chasing chip-monkeys, and exploring for many hidden treasures.

Jacoby loved telling “pine cone stories” - Whoever had the pine cone got to tell a story. It was cute, Jacoby always told the same story that Shan had just finished telling. Lexen even got in a few stories – it’s fun seeing what’s on their little minds!

The weather was great! We just had to plan nap times around the afternoon rain and hail mixture.

Jacoby – “mom you can tell I’m cold”

Mom – “how is that?”

Jacoby – “because I have ducky bumps”

We had a great weekend together and can’t wait for the next adventure!

Jacoby's First BIG Owie

...I say first, but I'd love for it to be the last!

The boys were playing on Jacoby's bed when somehow Jacoby ended up splitting open his eyebrow. I took him to urgent care and they did some liquid stitches. He handled the situation better than i did! I hope he doesn't scar too bad, but he hopes it's a BIG scar - such a boy. I told him if that's the case he needs a better story than he fell off his bed. ;o)

Proverbs 15:1

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 

Why is it so hard to endure an unjust or unfair criticism? Why do we always have to defend ourselves no matter how ridiculous the charge? Often the problems we have with others simply escalate because we do not choose to forgive and let them go on in the Lord!

The weight of our words are great, but forgiveness is greater!
Go ahead...try it!

Frog in Throat

While the boys were eating dinner I saw a frog hop across the patio, so I grabbed a box and went outside to catch it. Once I caught it I brought it inside and put the box on the counter until the boys were finished eating. 

Jacoby asked to be excused from the table and when he got up he coughed. I asked him if he was alright and he said, “yes, I just have a little froggy in my throat”. I laughed and said, “I know, now it’s up on the counter”. He said, “silly mommy, it’s just pretend”. 

Once Lexen was done eating we brought down the box with the frog inside. Jacoby looked in the box with amazement and said, “that frog came from my throat”. He was so serious about it that it made all of us roll with laughter!
