Our Home in Pocatello

Hello again, blogging world. It may have been been awhile since I last posted. Therefore, I have NO IDEA where to pick up again, but I think I'll start with our move to Idaho. Garth and I moved to Pocatello on the 12th of August. A temporary move, so he can attend PA (Physician Assistant) school here.
I thought it might be fun to show you our home while we're here.

This sign used to hang out front at Garth's Hadley grandparents home in Downey, ID. When they passed away, we inherited it.

This is our "home away from home"....along with our favorite little Toaster. :)

Beautiful flowers on our front porch, courtesy of Garth's sister, DaNae.

Living room.
Note: The Giraffe theme beneath the window is rather interesting. Not exactly my taste. I actually got permission to paint it the color of the walls, with the understanding that I paint it back like it is when we move out.  ??? Is it worth it? Garth says no.

The other end of our long living room. We love the hardwood floors!

My better half, studying up a storm.

Our second bedroom- Garth's office

Small bathroom off of office. Check out the cool wall vents (bottom left).

Our HUGE bedroom.

The opposite end of our bedroom.

Our cute "galley" kitchen.
Found enough space to tuck both of our shelving racks inside, one in the kitchen, and one to the left of the table in the eating area. Now we have tons of storage space.

A little snug, but works great for just the two of us. Whenever we have someone over, we pull the table out from the wall.

Looking back through the kitchen and into the end of the living room where my desk is.

Main bathroom, right next to our bedroom.

Incredibly cool storage area.
Don't you just love old houses?

Back porch, through door by table. Also, my favorite pastime- my bike. :)
You can't tell by looking at this picture, but the porch has quite the tilt to it...sorta fun. You just have to get used to it.
(not shown- a full basement with washer and dryer and lots of great storage)

That's pretty much it. Now you know where we live. We love it here and are starting to feel more at home, but we miss family, friends, and the wonderful state of Oregon.
If any of you end up coming down this way, PLEASE, oh please come see us. We would love it!

Enough Already...You Win

The pictures came today.
This is Elder Hadley's stitches from his run-in with the farm jack on the 30th of January.
As his mother, I can't say enough how grateful I am it didn't hit him directly in the eye.

Four days later with the stitches removed.
Elder Hadley's comments about the stitches...
"I hope you like the pictures. The guy didn't do a great stitch job. I took them out myself because I didn't like the service there and didn't want to pay another $10 for a couple of cuts."

The following two pictures are from his "AXE-ident" on the 2nd of November last year.
(I forgot to ever post them)
Hmmm. Let's see. The beginning of November until the end of January. I count just under 3 months. This needs to stop, wouldn't you say?

It's unanimous Elder Hadley. No more.
We all want you home in one piece.

On a brighter note, he just passed his halfway mark on January 7th.
He has prepared his shirt for the traditional
"Hump Day Burn".

Just to give you an idea what this typically looks like, here are a couple of Elders from the Snowflake area burning their shirts.
A little rubbing alcohol and a match- nothing too much.

Now we see Elder Hadley burning his.

All I can say is, it's a good thing you want to be a firefighter.
Someday you'll be able to come to your OWN rescue...
in the mean time,
YOU WIN!!!

ANOTHER trip to Urgent Care?!?!!!

We received our weekly e-mail from Elder Hadley today.
Read for yourself (an excerpt)...

Things are going great.
Guess what came early this year??? Yep, a trip to the urgent care for some stitches. :)
I told you at least once a year. I guess I should tell you the story. We were going to an appointment when we saw this drug deal going on and we decided we should break it up, so we confronted them about it. The bigger guy punched me in the eye and cut it (hence the stitches), so my companion and I proceeded to beat them up until they couldn't do anything and then we called the cops.

Okay, just kidding...that wasn't the real story, but it sounds cool right? I was doing service and was using a farm jack for the first time and was lowering a trailer and it popped out of my hand and hit me just to the side of my right eye. It only needed two stitches because it was so close to my eye. I should get the stitches out this Friday. I will send you a picture of it next week. So I guess this is my 4th year in a row to do something like this...one more year and it'll be my 5th year anniversary...who wants to celebrate? :)
~~~~~~~~~~
Just the kind of note every parent wants to get from their missionary. I about fell apart when I first started reading it, so by the time I got to the end I was practically relieved.
So the way I figure it, he should be good now until he comes home next January, right?
I will post a picture of his most recent "wound" next week.
It is comforting to know that Heavenly Father is aware of and watching over his missionaries.
Garth feels like Jason may have MULTIPLE guardian angels assigned to him.
Probably true.
Mission Memories from Arizona
Elder Hadley (our son Jason) recently sent home several Cd's filled with pictures from his mission. He is loving this time he has to share the gospel as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He just passed his 1 year mark on the 7th of January. He will return home this coming January of 2011. He recently transferred to Apache Junction and seems to be adjusting quickly. Elder Hadley has spoken numerous times of his love for the people and the beauty of the areas where he has served. Looking through the pictures, it's easy to see why he loves it there so much. Below are just a few of the ones he sent:
Other missionaries he has served with.
Elder Hadley and Elder Moa (his companion in Snowflake) with a young girl he baptized.
ONE of the three sure looks like a "local" ;)
This one's kinda cool. Can you see the tornado? They're nothing compared to what you see back in the southeast but still pretty neat to watch. And apparently fairly common.
One day a week the missionaries have what's called a P-day (prep day). This is the day they do laundry, buy groceries, write letters and take care of other necessary things. When time allows, they also get to enjoy some free time with the other missionaries in the area. As you can see, Elder Hadley enjoys every minute of his free time...
