LOKLOK @ JB

A's aunt invited me to have dinner with the family on xmas eve (another blogpost) and as usual, people from the same generation started forming their groups and chatted away. Was telling the siblings and cousins about our recent trip to JB when I told the rest that I heard alot of raves about loklok in JB. Then we kind of got so enthu that we decided to make a trip in that weekend.

Thank god for Ben's car. They picked me up at my place and headed straight to the checkpoint.

got really excited as it was my first time crossing the causeway via a car. The checkpoint lane for cars was uber fun! The best thing was that we do not have to alight and then queue for our turn to get our passport stamps. (just have to show face LOL)

It was a breeze at both checkpoints and we managed to get through within half an hour (or maybe 45 mins).

Went over to KSL City Mall to catch CZ12 before LOKLOK at night

why are you so cuteeeee <3

First thing to eat in JB: SHILIN FRIED CHICKEN!!!!!
I swear it's wayyyyyyyyyyy better than those here in SG. I have no idea why but I guess it's because of the chicken? Maybe they use kampong live chicken while the chickens used here are frozen ones. and they follow the way you eat just like in TW - just one big uncut piece with bones. AUTHENTIC.

Movie tickets at only RM12 (~ SGD$4.8). dirt cheap. I'm thinking of going back in to watch Les Misérables. (A, can? LOL)

Of course, Jackie Chan never fails to awe us with his humour and cool stunts. Ultimate respect but heart-wrenching at the same time to see him do everything himself (when he's already 59).

Shopped around for good deals and it's crazy sale everywhere! 2 pieces of dresses for RM50 (~SGD20)!!! I have already psycho-ed mumsy and A to come back to shop for CNY's clothes. (ANYONE INTERESTED?)

<3 Le boy!

Night Falls and we drove out of KSL to the famous food street! It's uber near to KSL, i think it was a 5 to 7 mins drive? A's sis told us that they always walk over from KSL previously. so I guess it's walkable? LOL. Shall try to walk over with 10 people guarding me left right infront behind. LOL.

found seats almost immediately as there are "waiters" anxiously pulling customers to their own designated stalls. You have Abalone Noodles, Wonton Mee, and the famous Lok Lok Van! Ordered the Abalone Noodles and went over to the van to get our sticks of food!

There's like 50/60 types of snacks you can choose from. You basically can find everything you eat during your usual steamboat meals - fish cake, sausages, vegs, luncheon meat, quail eggs, century egg, different types of mushrooms, cuttlefish, bacon with asparagus AND ALOT MOREEEEEEEE. So, you choose whatever you want, then pass it to cook, they will deep fry (ouch, so sinful) and then serve it to you piping hot. The price of each stick ranges from RM1 to RM2.50/3. So it's like 40 cents to $1.20 if you convert it back to SGD. AGAIN: DIRT CHEAP LAH.

They have 6 different types of sauces you can dip your food in. I have no idea which is which, but there should be chilli in different levels of spiciness, satay sauce, 沙茶酱 (sweet salty and a little bitter) etc.

And this one above is the king of all chilli sauce. EPIC HOT and it burns your entire mouth. best of all, it doesnt go away.

A's sis recommended us to get this drink called Jelly. It's basically the jelly you always eat in Ice Cocktail Jelly with either lime juice or sugar water. It's a must to order because it is sooo refreshing and covers away all of the oily feeling you have while stuffing all the deep fried food.

The "very famous", "highly raved" abalone noodle. yeah, nothing special about it, it's like your normal fishball noodle with a piece of abalone. like what alot of people said, i guess the standard has dropped tremendously.

but nothing beats LOKLOK. as sinful as it may be, it's the one thing I would recommend everyone to go try out. especially the fried mushroom and quail eggs. but you have to run at least 10 rounds after that.

We paid about RM 10 + each which is SGD4 for everything (abalone noodle, loklok and the drinks)
how can food be sooooooooooo nice and cheap?!!
I'm definitely heading back with more people. (but i better run more before heading there again)

XOXO

Happy Two-Oh-One-Three

Happy 2013.
everyone's spamming facebook thanking everyone for being there for them.
I shall follow suit. Year 2012 has been a great year. Ups and downs (as always) but I know I have grown up quite a far bit throughout this year.

1. Got back to school.
I'm still a little down about not going to taipei to study (I could have spent my countdown at 101!!!) but thankful that NTU still wants me afterall. Being in SG still has its advantages - A, friends, family, wont get lost, can go home late without worrying about crime rates. (neh mind, I shall make a point to go tw every now and then)

2. FIVE FKING YEARS WITH LE BOY.
One word: INSANE.
Can't believe I have spent half a decade with him. No words can describe how thankful i am to this amazing boy who dotes on me, being impartial and scolds me when i'm at wrong, gives that apologetic look to make me laugh, giving me the best hug whenever i demand for one. AND SO MANY MORE. <3

3. Twenty-One.
Turned 21 on 2012-2012.
finally an adult. cannot be childish and dumb anymore.
Time to be an independent & strong-willed woman.
I don't need any man. (except A lah)

4. Back to Blogging.
I have no idea why I had that sudden thought of going back to blogging. But it really motivates me to spend each and everyday happily so that I can share with anyone reading and maybe cry and look back years later thinking, "oh yes i've done that", "oh my, why am i so dumb back then".
(i guess g15 helps quite a fair bit too: photos overloaded)

5. DANCE
I'm thankful to be able to continue dancing, especially in such an awesome environment with great inspiring dancers/dance mates. gonna push my limits and hopefully ace a chance and do a great job in DANCETITDUE! Family yo~

6. ARMY/OFFICER-SHIP
one of the happiest moments in 2012 is to see my dearest boy going through months of hardships and finally step his foot on the commissioning parade marching with pride. Will never forget the suave look he has in his NO.1 uniform.

7. First trip out of town with friends.
I have never went out of town with friends. The only time I went out all alone with leboy was during 2011. It's wonderful to have a bunch of people that has the same kind of "thing", who knows how to have fun and to be a great company in a foreign place. It's so awesome that we are already planning to head to Club Med Next Dec after the guys ORD-ed. SUPERB.

8. Roadtrips out for FOOOOOOOOD.
2012 has been a fat year. went crazy searching for good food all year round and it gets worse when you have friends who drives. Thank you justin, evelyn, ghim & ben! more to come in 2013 hahahah

9.  Being financially independent.
Working full time for a year has made me learnt the importance of moolah, especially being financially-stabled. Mumsy got me and sis an education fund when I was one and now I have two-thirds of my uni fees covered. See how important it is to be prepared?

So, I bought a savings plan for myself (just have to pay a certain amount of money each month and then you get a big lump sum back when you are thirties? - that will be my new home renovation fund, or use that money to go travel. HAHAAHAHA), and saving up for my wants to reward myself now and then (my lovely prada wallet & g15). AMAZING 2012. can't wait to have more moolah by the end of 2013.

10. Friends.
I wanna dedicate this to whoever that has stood by me through thick or thin in the past one year. Amazing people that shares common goals and will always appear wherever they are needed or not. Thank you "you know who you are"and my best friend for life, A. Many more years to come.

TRUE FRIENDS STAB YOU IN THE FRONT - Oscar Wilde
they wont even care if you didnt mean anything to them.

The 10 things that has impacted me in 2012.
and now, for 2013.

1. ALAN LOKE's ORD.
Mark the date: May 31st

2. Overseas Trips
THE ULTIMATE THING I WANNA CHECK OFF ONCE A ORDS. HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ONE YEAR TEN MONTHS.
A and I have decided to travel as much as we can during our school years, before we get drained with working life.
SO:
- Heading to TW once the boy gets back his pink IC
- ALOT OF JB/MSIA roadtrips for yummy food. (ESPECIALLY SEAFOOD&LOKLOK)
- Another trip out with the avengers (HOPEFULLY CLUB MED!)
-Maybe squeeze short trips to neighbouring countries (BKK and Batam)

3. More Materialistic Dreams
Hopefully reward myself by getting a Balenciaga bag and Chanel necklaces & earrings.
pampering mode on.

4. FANSTATIC GRADES FOR SCHOOL
yeah.

5. DANCE DANCE DANCE
It's time for dancetitude! Fingers crossed to get in!

and many more.

oh ya, and finish all backlog of blogpost asap.
(i have one abt jb roadtrip with cous, one abt xmas eve dinner, another abt nye celebrations to finish)

Happy New Year:)

XOXO

121212: 9 more days to end of the world. (fake one lah)

THIS IS WAYYYYYYYYYYYY TOOOO BACKDATED. HAHAHAHAHA.
(always forget to get the g15 back from A = no photos to blog about)

121212 had been an awesome day for me!
Went over to Salon Vim @ Somerset 313 for my hair appt. was too lazy to take any photos because
1. I was too shy (lazy) to take my camera out from my bag.
2. There were too many things to do. I did Cut, Colour + Treatment.

but I swear: AWESOME PEOPLE & AWESOME SERVICE.
I swear i will go there for any hair appt from now on. The price is quite high but it is worth it.

Wanted to try the colour red again because the previous one faded way too soon. Told my stylist John, and he went on with a dark maroon colour that suits my yellowish skin tone. and the colour turned out really well:)
(Update: It has been three weeks and i'm still a redhead! wahahaha i love redken products)

After sitting in the salon for 4 hours, I went to meet A, xinhua & karyan to get Angella's Birthday Present. I'm not supposed to reveal anything yet so we shall skip the hunting for present part.
(Update: since it's already sooooo backdated, we got her a agnes b mint bracelet!)

Settled the present about 8 plus and we went over to Sushi Tei @ Ngee Ann City for dinner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELLAAAAA

polygamous ftw.

XOXO

JB TRIP 2012 DAY 2&3

Day 2 - Legoland Malaysia

Met the rest for breakfast early morning. The food was alright: your usual bread&butter breakfast.

went back to the room to get ready and headed out to the bus terminal at checkpoint. Just look out for Bus LG1 and the one way ticket to Legoland cost RM4 (~SGD$1.50)

(the bus schedule to and fro Legoland via JB Sentral)

The 45 mins bus ride was quite a smooth one, with one stop at Larkin Sentral.

The Big Sign from afar

The bus we took from JB Sentral

Thank you GX for booking the tickets online!

The iconic lego-signboard.

and yes, IT WAS BLOODY HELL RAINING. DAMN SUAY.
and because it was a weekend + school holiday, the number of people there was insane.

Went over to the "shopping area" (I don't know how to name it) and the guys bought umbrellas to brave the rain.

it's something like resorts world sentosa. dunno, have that feeling lol. but it's not fully ready lah. still very empty. shall wait till 2014 to come back for the water park.

Anvy's and my bodyguards LOL.

OFF TO LEGOLAND!

since it was already raining, we went ahead with the wet rides. It's something like the Jurassic Park Water Ride in USS, or if you are in my age group, the "wild wild wet" ride at the old Escape Theme Park. I knew there was a similar ride, so I brought the ponchos that was given to us during the PSY showcase. HAHAHAA. Anvy bought a kid's poncho because the one for adult was already sold out. The others went without any protection.

Pharoah's Revenge was the EPIC one. It was a playground for kids, but we didn't know mah, so we went in and got kicked out by the staff. HAHAHAH. I cannot forget how the staff inside was like: "THIS IS FOR KIDS BODOH".

I LOVE THIS PHOTO ALOT. One being GX and ANVY damn sweet, another being JUSTIN is willing to be in a photo! HAHAHA and the umbrellas bah.

why you so cute??

Took the 4D show next after photobombing.

It's similar to the SHREK 4D at USS. BUT THE SHREK ONE IS WAYYYYYYYYY BETTER. THIS ONE DAMN CUI CAN? I was damn angry and angst when watching it. The effects were poorly done, it's like 该有 effects 没有 effects,不该有,just spam like mad. and who uses soap bubbles for effects. my hair was soapy after the show. ANGST.

awwww love the poncho! wonder if Anvy threw it away already??

figurines all made with Lego bricks!

Queued for another show at the amphitheatre. Turns out it's for kids, teaching them how to spot the dangers you can find at home. -_- but we managed to had our own laugh - because one of the entertainers looked like Kwang Soo from Running Man.

Went for lunch at Mahattan Fish Market. Nothing to talk about. The worst meal we had in JB.

wanted to queue for other rides but the queues were insane. We have to wait for 60 mins for every ride. Imagine the people queuing for that (i think) 30-sec ride? Kill me please. but I was sad I couldn't get to ride the roller coasters. They all looked fun and nice from ground.

our last ride of the trip: the tu-tu-train. I don't know why but I love this ride alot. It never fails to make me smile, no matter whether it's in Taipei's Leofoo Village, KL's Sunway Lagoon or Legoland. (esp when you hear kids scream when there's nothing scary about it. LOL)

<3

Our moods were all dampened by the rain. so we decided to call it a day. but before leaving, we braved through the rain and visited the MiniLand!

hahahaha. am very addicted to a chinese palace drama right now. One of my goals is to visit The Forbidden City soon.

and Uniquely Singapore.

motorised SMRT bus. It really moves.

and MY VENUE FOR 21st BIRTHDAY!!

Left Legoland as it started raining again and we didn't have to mood to continue. Went back to the hotel and we went searching for local fare! Was researching about good local food and stumbled upon Meldrum Walk. Situated just behind our hotel, Meldrum Walk is a back alley street full of hawkers on pushcarts. Spilt into two areas, you get half a street full of your malay local fare - mutton soup, nasi goreng, mee soto, mee goreng, while you get all sorts of chinese local fare at the other half of the street. Finger-licking-good BBQ chix wings, Char Kway Teow, Carrot Cake and BBQ SEAFOOD.

Fried Oyster FTW. This uncle is damn good at what he is doing and keeping calm when the oil scalds him. Somemore he does 8 to 9 orders at one go and the queue is mad long. I heard the lady boss telling one customer that the wait is about 45 mins.

brace yourselves. we bought BBQ Stingray, Sambal Cockles, BBQ Chix Wings, Fried Oyster and one packet of Char Kway Teow each. YUMYUM.

DAY3 - Check out and BYE JB

Slept in and almost missed Breakfast Service. Went back to sleep after breakfast until check in time. Shopped around City Square Mall and ended our 3D2N trip across the causeway.

--

Finally done with JB Trip! More to come: (XMAS, NYE, and JB Supper with A's siblings!)

MERRY XMAS!

XOXO
