Ballerina Birthday

For the first time, Hannah decided she wanted an all-girls party.  She invited her favorite friends from her different circles: preschool, kindergarten, church, and neighborhood.

they look all sweet and quiet in this picture, but trust me it was LOUD!

we played "pin the tutu on the ballerina" and a dancing version of follow-the-leader

Here is a clip of singing "happy birthday".

After cake and ice cream, I sent the craziness outside to play.  They happily obliged.

Matthew Moments and Another Injury

Here are a few of my favorite Matthew moments from this long weekend:

- When he came running into the bathroom to say: "Mommy, can you please take me to bed because Daddy is not awesome."

- We he said something funny at dinner that I can't remember, but it made us laugh, which made Hannah spit out her milk, which made us all laugh even harder.

- When he spelled his name and Micah's name all by himself:
it's right-to-left, but all the letters are right-side-up and in the right order!

- When I threatened Matthew with big trouble if he pooped in his swim diaper at our friends' pool.  So he got out of the pool, stood next to it, and pooped in his swim diaper.  With everyone watching.

- When he got so tired from swimming (and skipping nap) that he fell asleep on my lap.  And then he peed on me.

- When this conversation happened on the way to chick-fil-a:
Matthew: I want chicken and fries and a hangaber.
Scott: Buddy, they don't have hamburgers.  Only chicken.
Matthew: Ok.  But I tell them.
Me (whispering to Scott):  I think he means he's going to ask them.
Sure enough, when we got there he walked right up to the counter and ask the young lady if they had any "hangabers".  He didn't believe us!

- And if you're worried about Daddy's awesomeness, this conversation happened a couple of hour ago:
Scott: Um, Matthew, when I asked you if I was awesome earlier today, you said 'later'.  It's later, so can I be awesome now?
Matthew (in a passively patronizing tone): Uh, sure.

Our power went out this morning, forcing us to take a break from our to-do list.  Instead, we went for a family bike ride.

This is probably one of the longest rides Hannah has done without training wheels, and she did great!  ....until we were almost all the way back.  She lost concentration, wobbled, and fell....on her face.  :(
Poor thing.  There was a lot of blood at first, but she calmed down relatively quickly and handled it like a trooper.  Between her black eyes two weeks ago and Micah's trips to the ER (see below), I'm a little worried what the teachers at school will think of me!

Most of you probably already know this, but Micah had an infection that then developed an abscess on his arm.  He had to have a very quick little surgery to drain it, then spend the night at the hospital.  It appears to be healing nicely; we have a follow-up with the surgeon tomorrow.
