The Man

Well, did you guess from the pictures what Micah's costume was? He was....the man in the yellow hat!
[In one of the movies his name is "Ted", but he is not named in the books.]

This picture was from his party at school.  Notice he has his little "George" tucked under his arm.

The next picture is from our party with church friends.  Have you already deduced what Hannah's costume was?  Curious George, of course!!  (I just had to shorten the legs a little from when Micah wore it two years ago.)

The older kids at the party got to take a wagon ride to see a miniature horse farm.
Notice that all the kids are hanging back except Aaron, who was the youngest.  See his little blond head behind the first horse?

I think it's really funny that there's a "cow" petting the horses.  :)

The kids also got to make caramel apples.  We took Micah's home to have the next day.  He spent at least 45 minutes eating it, and still only ate half.  I said it was as big as his head, so he was demonstrating that I was wrong. :)

The final activity of the week was trick-or-treating.  Our neighborhood does it in the afternoon, which I really liked.  Almost everyone sat out in their driveways with candy, giving it a fun, community feeling with none of the scary/spooky side.  Micah had never experienced trick-or-treating before, and he had a blast!  He was thrilled just to be handing out candy to everyone.  Then when he finally understood that people were going to give him candy, too, he just wanted to run the whole way!

To make it even more fun, Carter and his family came with us.  (They live in the country; you'd have walk a few miles to trick-or-treat out there!)

too excited to walk!
Hannah had her first ever peanut butter cup.  It was a big day.

Pumpkin Patch

Micah's class had a field trip to a pumpkin farm today.  The weather was cold and rainy, but we still had a great time!  We went on a hay ride, walked through a corn maze, and picked out a pumpkin to take home.  There were a few animals to feed and pet, then we retreated to the indoor activities.  The two big attractions inside were the hay maze and the slide into a pool of corn.
Micah is the yellow hood on the right.

Do you think he's having fun?

This afternoon we made our jack-o-lantern while the little ones were sleeping.

Two Videos

This video is probably one that only I find funny, but since it's my blog I guess I can put up whatever I want.  ;)  Last night Hannah noticed that I was baking with bananas and immediately started begging for some (pointing, grunting, and signing "please").  The part that entertained me was that she kept doing the same routine over and over and over: ask for banana, put the pacifier on the floor, say "thank you", eat the banana, pick up the pacifier, and walk away.  But she'd only walk away about three steps before she turned around and started over again. :)

This video is of nothing in particular - just kids running around screaming and laughing.  It's just a little look at what life sometimes looks like around here. :)

Campfire

Last night we cooked hot dogs and s'mores over a fire for dinner. It was a fun family activity, but it confirmed my conviction that I will never go camping with a baby. It was a full-time job to keep Hannah out of harm's way!

mmm...hot dog....

Micah was proud that he was able to roast his own marshmallow.

One Year Pictures

After a gash on the cheek (falling into the elliptical) and a scab on the nose (Micah ran her down on his bike), Hannah's face was finally healed enough to get her one-year pictures taken.  It worked out well because I had my parents here to help corral the kids through the tortuous process.  She did awesome for the first few shots, then she started anticipating the flash.  So, we didn't get any usable shots in her second outfit, which was incredibly adorable.  Oh well, maybe I'll try it again at Christmas.  I'm just thankful that the first few shots turned out this well!

Don't Tell...

Don't tell Hannah, but while she's napping we often have a lot of fun without her.  Poor Hannah. :(

Delinquent

I know! It's been over a week since I posted.  There's no excuse.  But if there were, it would be that I've been busy!  Besides the normal life of keeping up with 2-4 children...
- my parents were here for a few days
- my in-laws were here for an afternoon
- Scott's sister and her family were here for part of the weekend
- we went to a wedding in Pittsburgh
- multiple children have been sick (mostly just fevers and crankiness)
- and I've done a little baking and sewing.

I followed this tutorial to make a sweater dress for Hannah out of a $.99 adult sweater from a thrift store.  I'm pretty excited about it (and the matching bow, of course), and I'm definitely making more! (Both of my one-year-old nieces can count on these for Christmas presents.)

Gramme helped me work on Micah's halloween costume.  I'm not telling what it is, but the next two pictures may give you a hint.

We had a wonderful time with Scott's family at his cousin's wedding.  A terrific babysitter took great care of Micah, Hannah, and my niece while we enjoyed "adults only" time.

Hanging out in their jammies, reading books together.  Love it.

Part Two - Lots of Cuteness

Micah and "One-Sock-Hannah" chillin' on the couch

Jackson did some "paint with water" pictures today.

This outfit is too big for her, but I can't help myself!
Beside the ending, my favorite thing about this video is hearing Hannah's little chuckles from inside the tent.

Back in Business

My new cord came in the mail today!  After a few frustrating moments of thinking it wasn't going to fit, I forced it into the right slot.  Hooray!  So, now, catch up time! (In two posts, for my convenience.)
On Wednesday we went to the zoo.
As you can see from the squinty eyes, we had a nice sunny day.

I pulled out the old side-by-side so that both little ones would be able to see everything.

They are pretending to prepare food for the lions.

The small animal in the bottom left is a barking deer, if you were wondering.
