Christmas 2011 Pres. Message

Dear Returned Missionaries,

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!
As 2011 quickly comes to an end we wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  It has been so good to visit with many of you this year as you call or stop in for a visit.  It's amazing to us where life has taken each of you as you embark on your careers and seeing your beautiful little families that are growing up way too fast!  Thanks for the cards and pictures to keep us updated!
We have been very blessed this past year as it has been quite eventful for us.  Perhaps the most important event in our family this year was the marriage of our son Dustin!  He got married in July, just two weeks before he turned 31.  He has a darling wife, very worth the wait!  We also added a new granddaughter born to our daughter Kim, and Tiffany has announced that her first born will come next May (a girl)!  That will be our 14th grandchild!  (in the mission we had 5).
For fun this year, we were able to do a little crusing. In February we cruised to the Carribean, a trip won through David's work. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on an Alaskan cruise in September; something David has always wanted to do. (Linda was never going to go on another cruise after being sea sick the entire time on a cruise 25 years ago!)
Everything went well and we are readu to cruise again!
David continues to serve as Young Men's President in the ward. He keeps saying he is too old for the job, but I keep saying it keeps him young! Linda is serving as the Releif Society Meeting leader and as the ward advancement chairmen in scouting. It is very rewarding to work with these young men and watch them come into scouting/Yound Men's as young boys and see them grow into Eagle Scouts. We love working with them. (Kind of like missionaries!)
David is still hanging on to his job at McDonalds. He is looking forward to retirement in the near future. We have even been talking about where we would like to serve another mission! Not sure when that will be, but sooner than later. Most of Linda's year has been spent taking care of her mother. This past September her mother suffered a stroke. After just 2 short months of ups and downs, the Lord granted her her greatest desire to be reunited with her husband and 2 sons in heaven. The funeral was just this past Saturday. Truely a blessing for her, but a sad time for the family especially during the holidays. We are so grateful for the love and support of our family and friends during this time, and especially grateful for our Heavenly Father's plan that families can be together forever.
Tav is continuing his career with Marriott.  He is now assistant general manager at the Fairfield Marriott here in St. George.  He loves his job.  He has lived in his grandma's basement for the past 3 years being a great companion and "movie buddy" to her.  He will miss her.  We have appreciated his help.  He will still be living in the house until we decide what the future will be for the home.  Tav is spending his annual Christmas vacation this year on a Mexican Riveria Cruise with his cousin.
Tiffany is still in Salt Lake City where she works full time at Certifite International and will graduate from University of Phoenix in the spring in human relations.  Her husband will be applying for pharmacy school next year, so we are not sure where they will end up.  Of course we are all excited for the new baby to come and hope they don't have to move too far away.
As always our association with you as missionaries holds a special place in our hearts.  We are so grateful for the opportunity we had to serve with you.  It's hard to believe that we have been home 9 years!  May you keep the reason for the season in your hearts as you celebrate the birth of our Savior.  We are truely grateful for His atoning sacrifice and the love he continually offers us.
We love you all and hope you will continue to keep in touch with us.  We hope to see you all at our 2013 reunion!
With Much Love,

President and Sister Terry

Greetings from Sunny St. George!

MERRY CHRISTMAS
TO ALL OUR WONDERFUL MISSIONARIES!

Greetings from Sunny St. George!

We hope this Christmas wish finds you all well and happy and that 2010 has been a good year for you. We can't believe that more than 8 years have passed since we have been home from Ecuador. We recently took our first trip to San Francisco and just couldn't get over how much it reminded us of Ecuador! The density of homes on the hills, close-colorful homes in the city and just the over all feel seemed very 3rd world to us! We had a fun time there with family, walked over the famous Golden Gate Bridge, passed by AT&T field and heard the crowd roaring during the World Series, and was overtaken by waves near the Cliff House
(goodby camra!). This year we were also tourists in Washington DC. Tav took us there to show us the sites of his mission. And it was perfect timing for the Cherry Blossoms, a beautiful time of year to be there.

Probably the most fun for us this year was a dream come true for David. We were able to purchase a travel trailer (not really for traveling!) to put on the family ranch near Enterprise, Utah. We spent as much time there this summer as we were able. It's a fun place for family gatherings. Since we returned from Ecuador, David and the men in his family have made the ranch into a fun place for family and friends to gather, a great tribute to the heritage of the Terry family.

McDonald's on Bluff street is still thriving as David continues his management there! He is hoping for retirement soon! He stepped up (if that is what you call it)
from scouting to Young Men's President this year. He thinks his Scout Camp days are over! Linda is the Relief Society meeting leader as well as serving on District and ward Scout Committees. Our family continues to grow (as you can see in the attached photo). Our grandchildren will increase to the magical number of 13 in 2011. Tiffany and her husband live in Salt Lake City where she is working full time and attending the University of Phoenix in the Human Resource program, while her husband attends the University of Utah. Tav is still with Marriott in St. George. He loves to travel. He took his first cruise this year and thinks he wants to work on a curise ship....but I think he is getting over that!

We want to thank those of you who have remembered us this season with emails, letters, and cards. It is so fun to see pictures of you and your families. We have had a lot of fun visits this year with many of you stopping by. We appreciate hearing from you and are so proud of your accomplishments especially your service in the church. They are a direct blessing from your dilligent service in the missionfield. We hope that you have a wonderful Christmas season and that you are still serving the Lord with all your hearts.

Life gives us great opportunities. Look for the joy that comes from making correct decisions. The Lord knows each one of us. May we turn to Him always.

With Love,
David and Linda Terry

PS Please keep us current on your email address and, if you want, your blogs and physical addresses and phone numbers. Keep in mind 2013 for our next mission reunion!

Message from President and Sister Terry

Merry Christmas!

WOW! It’s been a long time since we’ve talked with many of you. We really missed having a reunion this past year. 5 years is a long time but we hope you will all put 2013 on your calendar to attend our next reunion.

We just want to let you all know that we love you all and think of you often as we remember the wonderful experiences we had with you in Ecuador. We have been home over seven years and the time has gone by so quickly! Our life hasn’t changed much this past year except that we are “empty nesters”! President seems to enjoy the peace and quiet, but Sister Terry thinks it’s way too quiet at home. We do enjoy visits from our children and grandchildren. Tiffany and her husband have moved to downtown Salt Lake City where she attends the University of Phoenix and works full time while her husband is attending the University of Utah. They have adjusted well to marriage and the tiny apartment life. Tav is attending Dixie State and is still the front desk manager at the Courtyard Marriott in St. George. He loves his work and loves to travel—he is spending his Christmas vacation in New York City! He is living in his Grandmother’s basement—free rent for him—company for her! President is still at McDonalds and loving his Scoutmaster calling. He is like a magnet to those little Boy Scouts! Many times I hear a ruckus outside and go to see what is going on—they have him practically wrestled down to the ground! They love him and they keep him “young”! Sister Terry just accepted her 3rd church calling (there must not be anyone else as gullible!) I serve on the District Scouting Committee as well as the ward advancement chairman. I am also the Relief Society (formerly enrichment) leader. We enjoy being with our family and once in a while we go out to a movie!

We want to thank you for all the emails, phone calls, and especially the photo Christmas cards. It is so fun to see your little families. We love those phone calls to tell us “President, they just made me a High Priest” or “guess what President, I’m in the Bishopric---Elders Quorum President, or Scoutmaster…” Thanks so much for keeping in touch. We are so very proud of your accomplishments and enjoy hearing about weddings, new babies and graduations. We don’t write much on Facebook—but love reading all your comments.. It’s been a fun way for us to keep in touch with more of you. If any of you served with or remember Jon Unander, we want to make you aware of his health situation. He is battling cancer and, as we last heard, is not doing well. You can check out a blog on him at http://www.facebook.com/l/8c101;www.helpjonandtiffany.blogspot.com/. We send our love to him and his family and hope you will keep him you prayers as we will.

At this special time of year, we reflect on our many wonderful blessings and consider our association with you one of our most treasured blessings. We hope that you have a great Christmas season and that you will continue to serve the Lord with all you hearts.

With much Love,

The Terrys

PS be sure to keep us updated with a current email address so we can keep in touch.

From the Terrys

Dear Returned Missionaries,
We hope you have had a prosperous 2008. We have had a busy year, and as you can see with the attachments, our holidays are filled with wedding plans!
We are doing well--President surrounds himself with boy scouts--never thought it would happen, but he is beginning to get excited about the Klondike Derby! Sister Terry is working in Scouting too as advancement chairman also serving on the activities committee. We had a wonderful beginning to our holiday season as our ward performed the live nativity at Tuacahn, an outdoor theater here in St. George. It brings a special spirit to the season to participate in the nativity. It was extra special for us because Tiffany and Christian portrayed Mary and Joseph! Everyone in the ward wants to do it again next year--even in lieu of a party!
Tav was honorably released from his mission in August, 4 months early. He had some health problems that needed to be monitored at home. He is doing well and back at work at the Marriott. He plans to attend Dixie State in January. Tiffany and Christian will both graduate from Dixie this spring. They plan to continue at the University of Utah.
We love you all and appreciate so much the cards. emails, visits and phone calls for you. We hope you will continue to keep in touch.
Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
The Terrys
