Dear Returned Missionaries,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
As 2011 quickly comes to an end we wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It has been so good to visit with many of you this year as you call or stop in for a visit. It's amazing to us where life has taken each of you as you embark on your careers and seeing your beautiful little families that are growing up way too fast! Thanks for the cards and pictures to keep us updated!
We have been very blessed this past year as it has been quite eventful for us. Perhaps the most important event in our family this year was the marriage of our son Dustin! He got married in July, just two weeks before he turned 31. He has a darling wife, very worth the wait! We also added a new granddaughter born to our daughter Kim, and Tiffany has announced that her first born will come next May (a girl)! That will be our 14th grandchild! (in the mission we had 5).
For fun this year, we were able to do a little crusing. In February we cruised to the Carribean, a trip won through David's work. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary on an Alaskan cruise in September; something David has always wanted to do. (Linda was never going to go on another cruise after being sea sick the entire time on a cruise 25 years ago!)
Everything went well and we are readu to cruise again!
David continues to serve as Young Men's President in the ward. He keeps saying he is too old for the job, but I keep saying it keeps him young! Linda is serving as the Releif Society Meeting leader and as the ward advancement chairmen in scouting. It is very rewarding to work with these young men and watch them come into scouting/Yound Men's as young boys and see them grow into Eagle Scouts. We love working with them. (Kind of like missionaries!)
David is still hanging on to his job at McDonalds. He is looking forward to retirement in the near future. We have even been talking about where we would like to serve another mission! Not sure when that will be, but sooner than later. Most of Linda's year has been spent taking care of her mother. This past September her mother suffered a stroke. After just 2 short months of ups and downs, the Lord granted her her greatest desire to be reunited with her husband and 2 sons in heaven. The funeral was just this past Saturday. Truely a blessing for her, but a sad time for the family especially during the holidays. We are so grateful for the love and support of our family and friends during this time, and especially grateful for our Heavenly Father's plan that families can be together forever.
Tav is continuing his career with Marriott. He is now assistant general manager at the Fairfield Marriott here in St. George. He loves his job. He has lived in his grandma's basement for the past 3 years being a great companion and "movie buddy" to her. He will miss her. We have appreciated his help. He will still be living in the house until we decide what the future will be for the home. Tav is spending his annual Christmas vacation this year on a Mexican Riveria Cruise with his cousin.
Tiffany is still in Salt Lake City where she works full time at Certifite International and will graduate from University of Phoenix in the spring in human relations. Her husband will be applying for pharmacy school next year, so we are not sure where they will end up. Of course we are all excited for the new baby to come and hope they don't have to move too far away.
As always our association with you as missionaries holds a special place in our hearts. We are so grateful for the opportunity we had to serve with you. It's hard to believe that we have been home 9 years! May you keep the reason for the season in your hearts as you celebrate the birth of our Savior. We are truely grateful for His atoning sacrifice and the love he continually offers us.
We love you all and hope you will continue to keep in touch with us. We hope to see you all at our 2013 reunion!
With Much Love,
