I have just got back from London where I took part in the G20 TUC protest - Put People First. 30,000 trade unionists on the march to express their wish for a world rid of greed, debt and neo-liberalism.
Before setting off home this morning I caught the headlines re Jacqui Smith and the latest farrago involving expenses and "adult" films. Truly shaming and embarrassing stuff.
It's a strange irony that PPCs need to live lives of seemingly ascetic virtue - while Cabinet Ministers can milk the taxpayer of thousands and use their dosh to rev up their husband's libidos. Is it any wonder people are losing faith in Labour. The hypocrisy and double standard is frankly breathtaking.

IS HARRIET'S HEAD ABOUT TO ROLL?
So, Harriet Harman took a dodgy donation from Abrams in the name of one of his financial conduits. Will she have to resign? Consensus after today's Press conferencwe seems to be that Brown was not quite 100 percent behind her. We shall see.
Amused to hear Bob Marshall-Andrews on PM describing this as "Shakespearian tragedy" which I think frankly is bigging up a fairly depressing re-run of the last days of the Blair regime with poll ratings to match. Bob, I understand, was very recently going round Westminster telling everyone Brown was the "real deal" and a great socialist. Presumably he has changed his mind.Philip Gould also talking tosh on the radio about Peter Watt and his "great integrity" on World At One which could well be so but after all the cash for honours stuff just isn't going to wash with the public. Like Victor Meldrew, they just DON'T BELIEVE IT and we're going to have to do better than this To be fair, Watt has done the decent thing and resigned.
But, if Bob is right and we are in Shakespearian mode. Two thoughts.
"When troubles come, they come not in single spies but in battalions."
"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark."
