I'm on a schedule mom...

Poor little Keaton. He's on a pretty regular schedule thanks to daycare- he eats at the same time every day and naps at the same time every day and has his outside time at the same time everyday. We try really hard to stick to that schedule at home on the weekends because it works so well and it keeps him really happy but today we were cleaning and so lunch got served about 30 minutes later than he is used to....poor little guy only made it through a few bites before I looked over and he was completely asleep in his highchair. I had to get a picture before we put him in his crib. Such a cutie!

Fun at the CDC

Every year at the CDC (child development center) they put on a Feria day. Feria is a very big deal here in Spain- its a week long horse show/festival. They set up a ton of tents where they serve food and drinks and they have music and games for the children. Its a little like a state fair except what you wear is as important as anything else. The women spend hundreds of euro's on feria dresses, shoes, and accessories and the men wear black pants, white button down shirts and a black Spanish style hat. So each year the CDC recreates feria for the children- they decorate the windows and make a ton of flowers for each classroom and all the children learn to dance the Sevillana, which is a typical dance done at Feria. Then the parents come and the children perform their dance and then everyone enjoys tapas. So this year Keaton was a little young to be doing any dancing but he did get dressed up and wheeled around in the stroller. Here is a picture of him looking so handsome in his feria clothes.

And here are all the caregivers in their feria clothes. I didn't have time to get a feria dress so I wore the black and white. I am second from the right on the bottom. It was a very fun day.

No more crawling momma

Keaton has been walking with help for awhile now but really started walking without help a week or two ago and now he has no interest at all in crawling. If he falls down he'll stand back up and start walking again instead of crawling. Its so fun to watch- he is just growing up so much! So here's the latest video of my big little man walking around.

Spring has sprung!

The weather has warmed up and has been in the low 80's the last week or so. It has been so beautiful that we have taken every opportunity to sit outside and enjoy it. Keaton loves playing out on the patio- he won't venture out on the grass yet but loves to walk around the patio and find all sorts of things to try and put in his mouth. Here's my little man looking like such a big boy hanging out on our patio.
We also made a little trip into Puerto over the weekend and walked the town. There was this great little fountain in the town square. The flowers were so pretty we had to stop and take a picture.

Bathtime!

Keaton has always loved bathtime- from the very first bath we gave him it quickly became his favorite time of night. When we start running the water and pull out one of his little hooded towels he gets so excited and happy. We stand him up next to the bathtub and let him watch the bubbles fill and he bounces up and down and giggles. Its very cute. Our only problem now is that he wants to stand up when he is in the bathtub and we constantly have to sit him back down. The other night Grayson was bathing him and he was splashing and having so much fun I had to take a few pictures. Here's our little man being a goofball. Love him!

Ronda

Grayson and I decided to take off exploring yesterday. We have this book called "40 Day trips from Rota". It was written by a girl who was stationed here in Rota with her husband and found a lot of places to visit that were within one day's driving distance of Rota. Ronda is about 1.5 hours from Rota up in the mountains- its a beautiful drive that takes you through several puebelo blancos (white villages) and past several really nice lakes. Our problem always seems to be we forget the Spanish do not operate on normal business hours. We arrived in Ronda around noon and were hungry for lunch. We walked around and saw several restaurants- none of which were open for business yet (most Spanish don't eat lunch until 2-3 pm). We were getting a little frustrated when we spotted the golden arches - yep McDonald's. I am not a big McDonald's fan but over here it is a welcome sign since its the only thing that opens earlier than 2pm. Here's Keaton enjoying a few french fries- I love his little grin.
Ronda has a great shopping area and there were these cool street performers there- they looked like statues. If you dropped a coin in the fountain this guy would give you a little bauble out of his bag.
Ronda sits on top of a mountain and it has some great views of the valley below. This part of Ronda overlooks the gorge and river below- I don't think I would like this view everyday from my window!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We had a great weekend even though Grayson had to work. Yesterday the base had an "Easter Eggstravaganza" and did Easter egg hunts for all the age groups as well as bouncy castles, face painting and other activities. Keaton was too young for most of it but we did the egg hunt for his age group and he got a couple of eggs. Then we got his picture with the Easter bunny. He wasn't sure what to think of the bunny but at least he didn't cry. :)
Then today some friends had a bbq and easter egg hunt at their house. Keaton had a lot of fun crawling around the yard although after the first egg he got he wasn't interested in finding anymore so I had to pick him up and take him around to the other eggs. He had fun just sitting on the grass playing with the eggs in his basket. It was very cute.
