Dear all
There's a parenting seminar by Rev Goh Seng Fong on either 1st August or 8th August. This seminar not only for parents and parents-to-be, is for us youths as well because we also will learn how to communicate with our parents from the Bible prospective.
Venue, according to Aunty Serene might be at a chalet instead of YMCA. So after the seminar, we might have a BBQ.
Hope everyone can go for this. Do let Aunty Serene or Uncle Leslie know if you are going

It's in God's Word - from Daily Bread (15 January)
It's in God's Word - from Daily Bread (15 January)
http://rbc.org/devotionals/our-daily-bread/2009/01/15/devotion.aspx
Scriptural Text: Ps 119: 25-32
Psalm 119: 25-32, according to my study bible(The New Adventure Bible - for kids), it is a prayer for understanding the law, which is God's Word.
25My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
26I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.
27Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
28My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.
29Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.
31I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
32I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.
The psalmist is asking God to help him to understand and to teach him His precepts, which is His Law/Word so that he can tell others about God's wondrous works(v.27). He also ask God to strengthen him according to His word and to keep him away sins(v.28 & v.29)
Therefore, when we read the Bible daily, before we read, we should be like the psalmist, ask God to help us understand His Word and to teach us how we should live our Christian lives and to tell others about Him. We also need to ask God to comfort, strengthen and encourage us in our faith through His Word. Most importantly, we should ask Him to help us to keep His Word in our hearts so that we will not sin against Him (Ps 119:11).
After i read the article in Our Daily Bread (go to the link above and read it, very encouraging=), there is one quote, it's from Sper, it says

Go to God’s Word for refreshment—
You’ll find strength and comfort there. —Sper"
Then at the end of the article, it says "A well-read Bible makes a well-fed soul". I hope we be encouraged to go back to God's Word daily, no matter how busy are you and how you feeling that day, because when we read His Word, WE WILL BE FED SPIRITUALLY and we can find guidance, hope and knowledge in His Word to help us in our daily lives. Let's read God's word and be fed by Him.

Running the race for Christ
Our Christian lives are liken to a race. Many times, along the road, we faced discouragements and its easy for us to lose sight of the big picture. We are easily stumbled when we look away from our Lord Jesus, at ourselves, or the circumstances surrounding us. Let us be reminded that God allows discouragements in our race to help us to grow in our spiritual lives. Ultimately, let us be encouraged to keep our focus on our Lord Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith, to run the race for Christ with patience, perserverance and gladness.
Hebrews 12: 1-3
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
1 Peter 1: 7
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Nothing is proven worthy unless being tested. Just as the way examinations work presently in our lives, they put our lessons learnt through tests. Therefore, let us learn to accept trials of our faith as part of the refining process that burns away impurities, preparing us to meet our Lord Jesus Christ.
James 1: 2-3
2 My brethen, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Encourage one another to face difficulties in our lives and also in service to the Lord. Things may seem dim initially( re-structuring of our YF), but continue to labour ourselves for the Lord, with faith, patience and perserverance, keeping focus on Jesus Christ, knowing at the end of the day that our labour is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15: 58
58 Therefore, my beloved brethen, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
