INTERESTING WEEKEND

Friday morning we realized my dearest had a real problem as he kept getting weaker and weaker.  Took him to ER and discovered he had been slowly loosing blood.  They did an upper GI endoscopy and diagnoised him with Gastritis.  The slow bleeding was from the high powered Eliquis blood thinner he's on.  He got one unit of blood and was able to come home on Sunday afternoon.

Was wonderful to have family and friends with us.  The good news is this problem can be corrected with medication.  By the time he was released Sunday evening he was looking my my dearest again.
A happy camper, ready to go home.
We are home now and he had a good nights rest.  We are so thankful for our medical group and how they treat us like family.
Perhaps there was another reason my dearest spent the weekend in the hospital.  While he was in ER, he was wearing his hat that says "Pastor, Anything you do or say could be used in a sermon"
He has a new cardiologist and he ask Don if he was a Pastor, and he said yes, a retired one. Then the doctor ask if he prays for people and he said yes.  Don was able to hold the doctors hand and pray for him.   A little later Don had prayer for a young ER nurse who ask prayer for her mother.  Don prayed, and tears ran down her cheeks.
So, maybe God had a twofold reason for my dearest to spend the weekend in the Hospital.

OH HAPPY DAYS!!

Made a vegetable Quiche.  Quiche and Avacado Toast are my two favorite breakfasts.

Oh Happy Days, several without pain in my knees.  Sometimes when you live with pain, and get used to it, when it's gone it's like I have "happy feet".  The cordizone shots are working and I start Physical Therapy on Tuesday.  There are all kinds of healing.  Sometimes it's a miracle from the Lord, sometimes it's Doctors and treatment, sometimes it's medication.  We don't limit the Lord, we let him direct our paths and that is the best road to travel.
Tried sweet potato rings in the air fryer.  Didn't want them crispy but soft for my dearest!
It worked....delicious

I do have another health isssue I'm dealing with.  That old lazy bladder has been overworking lately and I won't go into the details but has gotten progressively worse.  Have a appointment the 29th for a proceedure to see if we can find a fix!  My parts are wearing out!!
But on the brighter side, I have a wonderful group of doctors that take time to really listen to you, and come up with answers.

Decided to hang one more watercolor in the living room. I painted it in 1991 a few months before my dear mother passed away from leukemia.  My sister took care of her during the week as I was working fulltime, and I took care of her on the weekends to give my sis a break.  She slept most of the time, so I took my watercolors and used her kitchen table as my studio while she slept.  Needless to say this is a special treasure as it reminds me of her.  Our son reframed it in black to match the other painting we hung recently.

Well that's enough for today.  Trying my best to get back in the swing of blogging.  Thanks for stopping by.

THE PROBLEM WITH KNEELING!

It is our custom to kneel for prayer in our Sunday Morning service.  Pastor always says "If you are able" before kneeling.  Several weeks ago I went to early service as my dearest was having a "slow day".  I sat up near the front with a friend and as my custom when it's time to kneel in prayer I do!  However when I knelt down my shoe caught on the back of the pew behind me and I went down HARD on my knees, and because of pride, I stayed in the uncomforable position until prayers were finished.

I didn't hear any thing pop or crack, only pain.  Since then I've experienced pain in both knees, but especially my right knee.  Fast forward I had Xrays of both knees and I have an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor for Osteoarthritis of the patella with knee effusion. (that's a mouth full)

In the meantime I have been taking meds and icing my right knee.  Getting old isn't for sissies, as I've said before, but now really feeling it.  Needless to say, the Lord hears my prayers now sitting in the pew!!!

One of the reasons I've been absent from blogging for a while.

TWO KINDS OF SWEETNESS

I've been trying to cut down on sweets but I needed to bake a coffee cake to take to the barber that did a great job cutting my dearest's hair.  I've been doing it for several years, but I'm NOT a barber and it was time for a professional cut.  I told the barber (Tony) I would bring him a homemade Sour Cream Cinnamon Coffee cake, *Which I did!

The second kind of sweetness was celebrating Nathaniel's first birthday.  He is the sweetest little guy.  So happy and full of life and already loves books.  Of course Nana GiGi will keep him supplied.  I gave him his first Rhyme Bible for Tottlers.  His momma loves to read to him and Daniel.  Sweetness comes in all kinds of forms!

PS:  Havent posted for a while...as you all know, life has a way of getting in the way...more details later.

CELEBRATING THE 4TH WITH PETER

What a joy to hold a newborn baby, especially when it's great grandson #5 "Hello Peter, you don't know me now, but oh in the days and months to come you will know your Nanna gigi.

Oh what joy on Papa's face.  With the many health issues my dearest has experience, the grace of our Heavenly Father to let him live long enough to have great grandchildren is such a blessing.  It was a precious family time as he prayed over Peter that he would grow strong in body and spirit and for his mom and dad as they raise a little boy into a godly man.  Best 4th of July ever!!
