Elections
1) Election Day Camp
Objective: To let the juniors experience organising an event and coordinating with each other

Job Scope:
1. To draft out a timetable for the whole camp/ come up with a complete proposal.
2. Act as time keepers for each activity.
3. Collate the number of people who will be/will not be attending the camp/activities. (URGENT! MUST GET BACK TO HUIJUAN BY 2 JUNE 2010!)
4. Planning the gathering venues and giving out instructions.
· Venues to be booked (URGENT! Please confirm the venues by 2 JUNE 2010.)
5. Liasing with the teachers-in-charge.
6. Be in charge for the finances involved for the camp and settling lunch for the whole band.
In short, you are the people who will get the camp going. Do note that you guys will have to work with the rest of the committees to allocate suitable time slots for each activity.

Job Scope:
1. Put up a decent enough farewell concert of sorts for the seniors during the camp.
2. Come up with a decent amount of songs of various genres for the concert. i.e. get ready a song list.
3. Organise / contact members for practice sessions.
In other words, you guys will both plan the concert and be in charge of the individual practices outside of normal practice leading up to the camp.
The concert need not be just harmoc playing, you can be creative! :D

Hwa Chong Harmonica Concert (:

The Hwa Chong Harmonica Band proudly presents: Windworks 2010: Rewind!
They will perform an extensive repertoire featuring pieces from popular movies all the way back to the 1980s. Be prepared to be engaged by the melodious tunes of “Under The Sea” from The Little Mermaid, “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from The Phantom of The Opera, classical pieces such as “Tango: Por Una Cabeza” and many more!
Do join them for a night of glamour and fun on 31st May 2010, Monday, 7.30pm at the Hwa Chong High School Drama Centre!

Elections
HELLO EVERYONE! HELLO MY DEAR JUNIORS PLEASE READ THIS:D
I hope all of you have enjoyed the one week break after the awesome performance put up! :D
Now, it's elections time!!! So dear juniors! after you submit your application form, there will be a series of challenges awaiting you! Please do not be afraid to show us your qualities! There are a few stages to it, so please read carefully and don't miss out anything alright! (:
1) Pre-election activity
Objective of this activity is to allow our juniors to know each other better through working together and also for the seniors to pass down skills that may be needed in the future, like writing a proposal for an activity (:
WHAT:
- The juniors will be divided into three groups. Each group is to come up with a proposal for an activity that will help recruit more people into harmoc. As you all know, we need more people in order to excel for SYF next year, so please do you part for the band and encourage people to join harmoc so that we can keep on blowing(:
- Target group: Junior High and Senior High students
- This activity can be a harmoc workshop, a publicity stunt, etc. Please use this chance to express your creativity! But please remember to be realistic. It has to be a concrete plan that the band (seniors and juniors) will be able to carry out together (: Yes the seniors ARE TO help to execute out the activity. Seniors, your participation and help will be greatly appreciated!!! REALLY!!!
- We know that it’s going to be the common test, but please understand that we do not have much time as well hence the rush. So please cooperate with us yea! WE ARE A BAND (: and we are all doing this for a better tomorrow! (:

Job Specifications for EXCO Members
hope you guys had enjoyed the 1 week break =))
its now time for the SH1s to think about the roles they wanna take in NJHB! =))
We'll be holding a pre-election activity, an elects camp, and an interview in all =))
This is what you have to do for now.
Read through the whole chunk of words below (though its a lot, do read through THOROUGHLY and CAREFULLY =)) )
decide on at least 2 of the posts that you want to run for.
then, go to KM, under CCA, look for Harmonica Ensemble, Application for Exco 2010.
download the document and fill in all the necessary details, print it out and put it in the folder at the harmoc noticeboard on monday.
should you have any enquiries, please ask any exco members =))
For this upcoming EXCO election, all SH1s except councilors will have to run .
Everyone with music background is to run for SL but those without music background CAN still run for SL.
Below is the job specifications for the different jobs in Exco.
However please take note that in reality, the Exco are expected to do more than what is stated. Please read through and choose wisely =))
President
1) To oversee all administrative responsibilities, delegating duties, implementing all projects and performances involving all members.
2) To plan with the Vice President and to discuss with teachers-in-charge the programmes for the whole year, and to keep the teachers-in-charge updated of the progress of the ensemble.
3) To work out practice schedules and check with Mr Tang when he is available, and informing/reminding him of the practice details (date, venue, time etc)
4) To inform the teachers-in-charge about the dates and venues needed for the practices, so that they can help to book.
5) Keep members informed (most likely through SLs) and involved of/with upcoming events, changes in practice schedules etc.
6) Overall in charge for all events and performances in and out of the college.
7) To organise meetings, co-ordinate events, liaise with teachers and the conductor and ensure the involvement of all members for any programme
8) Delegate tasks and responsibilities to other EXCO members for events, making such all EXCO members are as involved in running the CCA as possible.
9) To work closely with the Vice-President (discipline master) to maintain discipline of the Band, and also to work as a team and share the workload.
10) To have good relationship with the ensemble and get regular feedback for better planning of practices etc.
11) To maintain the Harmonica Band website on KM/ Harmonica Band blog.
12) To maintain contact with Alumni representative.
Vice-President
1) To assist the President in running the ensemble, and to take charge whenever the President is not available.
2) To work closely with the President and assist him/her in all areas (planning and carrying out of all activities, taking charge of meetings, communication with teachers-in-charge etc)
3) To maintain discipline (appearance, punctuality, manners etc.)
4) To ensure communication and welfare of the EXCO.
5) To have good relationship with the ensemble and get regular feedback for better planning of practices etc.
6) To take attendance during practices and hand it to the teachers-in-charge for verification.
7) In-charge of loaning and returning of college blazers for performance.
8) To maintain the Harmonica Band website on KM/ Harmonica Band blog
9) To maintain contact with Alumni representative.
Financial Administration Coordinator
1) To prepare the Membership Name List of the band and upload it onto KM.
2) Maintain the notice board and update it at least once a month.
3) Prepare minutes for all meetings and send to all Exco members and teachers.
4) Print out and keep a copy of all minutes in a file.
5) To maintain contact with the alumni through monthly/bimonthly newsletters and to inform the alumni of any performances.
6) To facilitate the transfer of new alumni (graduating J2 batch) information to the alumni.(All graduating J2s are considered to be alumni once the step down and their contact info will be given to the alumni unless permission is not given)
7) To keep a record of the alumni membership and the contact list (with workable email addresses and phone numbers).
8) To organise events with the Welfarehead for the alumni and the band (eg. Christmas party, Chinese New Year gathering)
9) In-charge of financial matters of the Harmonica Band subjected to the knowledge and approval of the teachers.
10) Planning of budget for activities and submit the proposal to the teachers for approval (if the activities require money to be used)
11) Keep an A/C record book, recording all deposits (collection of funds from members) and withdraws (expenditure by the ensemble – must have receipts for any purchase!) and submit to the teacher for verification after each event.
12) In-charge for fund raising activities.
Quarter Master/Mistress cum Welfare Head
1) To be responsible and to oversee the proper arrangement and maintenance of all instruments. Any damage should be reported.
2) Checking of stocks with teacher-in-charge.
3) Process new stocks, and help to buy new basic harmonicas for new members (from Mr Tang)
4) Take and keep instruments before and after each practice.
5) Draft and update list for loan of instruments.
6) Keep a record of instruments on loan.
7) Keep a record of all music scores.
8) Photocopy music scores and materials.
9) To keep the harmoc store in order.
10) Maintain welfare of the members by celebrating their birthdays, purchasing snacks and drinks (especially for long practices) and in charge of settling food (for camps)
11) Take photographs and keep and archive of them/maintain the dotphoto site.
12) Organise outings (CIP/ external) whenever suitable.
13) In-charge of designing the harmoc T-shirt for that year.
14) To plan gatherings for the alumni and the band members.
Section Leader
1) Conduct basic course for new members, ensuring they have the right posture and know how to read the notes.
2) Lead the section during sectionals, helping the members in their learning of pieces, and helping them to improve on the details of the songs and their playing (accurate notes, fluency in tempo and rhythm, suitable dynamics and expressions, good tone and articulation)
3) Take charge of one's own section and will be responsible for informing them of practices and other matters. Take note of the attendance of the members in the section, and all absentees should notify you about their absence with a valid reason.
4) Take care of the section’s welfare, fostering unity in the section and motivate them to increase their standard of play.
5) Remind the section to bring a pen/pencil with them for every practice, so that they can note down the details or any changes or in the songs.
6) Be firm to the members, constantly seek improvement in them, ensuring that they put in effort to practise at home, and that they had remembered whatever things that had been mentioned in the past practices.
7) Organize mini auditions if needed to motivate them to work hard.
Student Conductor
1) To conduct during combined practices and performances (when the conductor is absent)
2) Ensure cohesiveness and coordination of the ensemble’s playing.
3) Correct the band for any mistakes/problematic areas, and identify/suggest possible music directions for ensemble playing in areas such as tone, dynamic, expression etc.
4) Work with the instructor on the details of the songs.
5) Amend/Compose scores when necessary.

we were AWESOME tonight x)))
really wanna thank each and everyone of you for your hard work, and your cooperation with us =)
these few weeks had been tiring, but you guys did not complain much and endured the practices tgt.
we nagged a lot, we reprimanded you all, we made you all move here and there and stuff.
we pushed u all a lot, because time always seems to be running out..
we are still learning songs like, 2 to 3 weeks before concert?
i know we tend to be quite late in doing certain things, yet you guys didn't complain.
erhhs.maybe you guys did complain behind the scene, but at least during prac, you guys showed us the positive attitude and put in the effort to play..
we really really appreciate that =))
Also, even though you guys were really tired (which can be seen by ur faces during practices)
you all still came for almost all the practices (some really came for all,we really appreciate that =)) )
some of you, despite being sick, still came for practices..

we managed to share our passion for harmoc music with the audience.
we managed to touch them with our harmoc music.
