The Girl Who Played With Fire

I ve just finished reading this book. It took me only several days..

I didnt know about the writer as well as the book before. I found it during MPH Sales, read the synopsis at the back, decided to give it a try and Wow! It was irresistible! Once I start reading, I can't put it down!

It is a crime novel. The main character is "Lisbeth Salander" - a petite (4 feet something, weight about 90 pounds) girl who never finishes high school, portrayed as an introvert and peculiar character, reported as incompetent and psychopath by  Social Welfare but she has a photographic memory and she is a world class computer hacker! - I totally like this not-the-stereotype-image-of-a-crime-investigator kind of character :)

I think the "Lisbeth Salander" character (as well as the whole story) is very well written by the author. I could actually visualize it in a movie...imagine the character in a movie. You know, like..they-should-make-a-movie-of-this-book thinking..until I found out ( a moment ago) that not only this book has been sold millions! it is the second book from the Millennium Trilogy (first one is The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo)..and of course they have made the movie of the books! (sadly they are in Swedish)..and ..moreover, the actress played the "Lisbeth Salander" has actually awarded the Best Actress for her character in the movies!!!

My next tasks are to buy the first and the third books
and to find the movies from the internet!(with English subtitle)

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Baru habis baca buku ini - dipinjam dari seorang kawan.

Menceritakan tentang sebuah keluarga kulit hitam di Amerika.
Menarik sebab pencerita bertukar pada setiap bab di mana bab 1 dimulakan
oleh watak "emak" sebagai pencerita. Dalam bab 1 "emak" yang pada waktu itu berada di hospital
kerana diserang ashtma yang teruk..bercerita tentang suami dan anak-anak mereka serta cucu-cucu.
Dan bab-bab seterusnya adalah penceritaan dari pandangan setiap karakter dalam buku ini.
Jalan cerita sangat menarik...dapat menyelami kehidupan sebuah keluarga kulit hitam, konflik antara adik-beradik, bagaimana masing-masing mempunyai masalah masing-masing..

Pertama kali saya tengok imej ini di laman Frenster Pogo beberapa tahun lepas,
saya terus teruja!
dan tiba-tiba teringat untuk tanya Pogo jika dia masih simpan imej itu
dan nasib baik Pogo masih simpan.

Pogo kata dia pun teruja semasa jumpa kata-kata ini
sebab itu dia ambil gambar dan letak di frenster
katanya itu cover sebuah majalah 就活（就職活動）
yang dia terjumpa masa kemas bilik research
sebab tak tau sumber sebenar
tak dapatlah nak tulis kat sini
tapi saya nak letak juga imej itu
sebab saya sangat teruja
dan berharap
bakal-bakal engineer di masa depan
juga akan teruja!
setelah membaca kata-kata ini...

疲れ

今はとても疲れています。
うちに帰りたかったけれど、
とても疲れていて、車の中で寝てしまいそうになるほどです。
危ないですね。


最近とても忙しく感じています。
まだ採点していないクイズや
添削していない宿題が山ほどです。
学生の発表のチェックも。

今日は、クラスで「ストレス」のトピックの
聴解授業をしました。
学生に「あなたはストレスに強いですか、弱いですか。」という質問を投げました。

私は、自分がたぶんストレスに強い方だと言ってしまいました。
それは本当なのかな・・・

確かに仕事が多くても我慢できるタイプだと思います。
教える科目は母語ではないのに、ネイティブの方並みに仕事をしていると思います。
日本人ではないから、仕事を減らしてくださいと一度も言ったことがないと思います。
むしろ、日本人ができることは日本人ではない私もできるよと思っています。
もちろん完璧にはできないかもしれません。
もちろん人の助けが必要なときがあります。
しかし、最初から身を引いたことはありません。

日本語が第一言語の環境で教える、ネイティブではない日本語教師として、
「ネイティブではないから、この仕事は無理でしょう」と人に思わせたくないですね。
それは、その仕事で人生をやっていく人のプライドです。
そう、プライドです。

あっ、私は何を言おうとしていたのかな・・・
なんか「疲れ」の話題から遠ざかっているようですね。

それは、「疲れている」という証拠ですかね。（笑）
