Valentine's Day was pink heart shaped waffles, boxes of chocolate, and writing names on cards for friends. Valentine's was church and family time and extravagant dinners. Valentine's was full of love, giggles, and naughty dogs, but it was spent with the people I love more than I imagined I could ever love so this Valentine's Day was absolutely perfect.

Temple
We stopped at the temple on our way to birmingham. Sean was working down there for the week, and we missed him, so we went to stay with him the night before our big Moundville field trip. We found some benches in a flower garden on the East side of the temple and just sat there and took a moment to be still. It is easy to get busy running from one activity to the next or numbing our minds with things to do, so I think it has become even more important to teach my children how to be content.... How to just sit and reflect on the many amazing things we've been blessed with and to let gratitude wash over them. Quiet moments like this have helped me hold on to peace in a chaotic world; they've helped me to truly know myself, and to find purpose. I love having fun with them, but I love helping them learn how to find lasting happiness even more.
Birmingham
We found a little spot in Birmingham that we hadn't visited yet. We rode an elevator to the very top of the statue and the views from there were a little scary but absolutely breathtaking!
Moundville Alabama
We went to Moundville last week for a homeschool field trip. We had so much fun. I was a little worried that the kids might think it was boring, but they loved every second of it. They were constantly comparing it to the ruins we saw in Mexico, and imagining what it would have been like to live there so long ago. The land was fascinating and beautiful and full of history and discovery and faith. We climbed the tallest mound, walked to the river, and explored the artifacts they'd found on the site. Definitely one of our best field trips!
Hockey
We watched a Havoc game last week with rink side seats thanks to Sean's work.
Then we got to watch Drew play a little hockey of his own. This season is almost over, but he's learned a lot, and it's so fun to watch him play.

Voting
I voted today. Did you? I feel like we are so blessed to live in a country where we have freedom and protection and opportunity, and I feel like voting is a huge responsibility we each carry to ensure a beautiful country for our children.
