Higher Ability

the kiddos and pinky the humboldt! :)

and so, i just finsihed my first camp at birdpark. ive done quite a number at the zoo, but none for birdpark. it was cool, a tad unorganised, but it was ok. easy camp to handle though my kids were brats.

it was a strange school, Northland Pri. they had classifications of streams. i mean, i know they've scraped the whole EM1 to 3 thing.. but the new system this school had was absolutely weird. their top 2 classes were called the ''Higher Ability" class. then the Mainstreamers and the "lower ability". like WTH! if i was in the lower ability class, i would probably think i was disabled or something. HOW COULD THEY? like seriously.

so i spoke to the teacher, i was like..hey, i mean, is it honestly alright to classify them like that.. and pretty much told her how i felt. not that it was going to change anything, but i just had to. she said, "well, but these kids ARE slow." WHAT! how can the teacher, of all people, say that?? how unfair. so i said, "maybe its your teaching methods that doesnt get through to them. maybe they just need a little more hands on! its a different way of learning, thats all. just because mainstream doesnt fit, doesnt necessarily mean they're of lower ability'." the teacher's attitude honestly pissed me off. i would boycott the school at all cost if i ever had a kid. geez man.

so camps camp. over a done with rather quick. i had to endure a night freezing my ass off at penguins. i thought we were camping out at the picnic grounds but these kids have it better. i had a safari bed and a jacket and a pillow i stole from min's chair. my goodness. sleeping at 15-16degrees wasnt fun at all. i woke up and actually lugged my ass up to office and stole all the jackets i could find, only to realise that faith was trembling way more than i was. shes like..a quarter of my size, no way could i let her shake herself to lalaland. i piled on the jackets on her and sat up figuring how the nights going to be.

then, all of a sudden, i saw the extra tents propped up against the door. woohoo! i grabbed a tent, spread it out on my safari bed and used it like an uber large sleeping bag. my goodness, that stroke of genius left my grinning myself to sleep in warmth and comfort. haha, i love myself sometimes. hahaha.. woohoo!

to more camps like these.. man, i honestly need more income! gah!
