Happy New Year from the Meier's!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun new years. I have many updates to share at some point as well as some Christmas pictures to upload
I saw Carson and Brody. Both are adorable.
We are going to be an aunt and uncle again, and no, it's not one of my siblings. Josey is going to be a big sis.
Josey tricked me into being a horse for her.
I got 30 new pairs of socks for Christmas (and I'm keeping them all, I really needed new socks)
I'm hanging with the family tonight and I'm being paged to play cards...

HAPPY NEW YEARS!

Travelin Time

We are headed out tomorrow, so I guess that means I should really pack my stuff tonight. I have the Christmas presents packed up, but not anything else.

I hope the weather cooperates for our travels. It is suppose to get warm here finally today or tomorrow but I don't think that is the case in Northeast Missouri. I am not looking forward to any ice. :(

We went to the Exposure sale over the weekend and it was good. The quote of the weekend would be "CHOPPER, Woo Hoo!" Seeing the boys dancing that night was hilarious. The Griswold crew have a dance called "Driving Fence Posts" and Tucker was pretty darn good at it although Bruce was good too. The top selling heifer was for $65,000 and 1/3 semen interest, no possession in Chopper sold for $63,500 I think. We also went to the Euchee Creek sale Saturday night. Needless to say, Saturday was a long day.

The office is slow today, we are all waiting to see if we get to go home early today. We have our fingers crossed. If not, we decided we are all leaving at 2:00 p.m.

It may be awhile before I post again, depending on if I have time while I am home.

Happy Holidays!

Two more days....

of work, then I'm off for almost 2 weeks! Working at an university does have it's perks.

Pictures from the Woods wedding:

Felipe and Me

Toni, Tracy, and me

Greg and Tracy

Greg has been crazy busy the last couple of days. He has been leaving around 6ish in the morning to go to work. Last night he got home a little after 10, switched some stuff around in the Trailblazer and headed north. Felipe and him have to do a ton of transfers today in Kansas. This morning he said they drove until 12:30 a.m. and stopped to spend the night and left this morning at 7 a.m. to get the farm on time. I'm going to have one tired husband tonight (if they decide to drive back.)

So I made my cutout cookies over the weekend. I have pictures of them, but of course I haven't uploaded them and the camera is at home. I got a lot of compliments on them, so you should definitely try them out. The recipe came from McKenzie's blog and can be found here. They are Shortbread Sugar Cookies.

I'm almost done Christmas shopping. I'm going to tie up the lose ends tonight or tomorrow. Greg may have to help with the Exposure sale tomorrow, so I might drop him off then go shopping until the sale starts.

I'm not looking forward to packing for the trip home. Since I'm going to have an extended stay and we are taking the truck and trailer, room may be limited. I hear it is suppose to be cold, so I want to make sure to pack plenty of warm clothes. We are leaving the 24th to head to Jackson, dropping off Jake (I'm going to miss him) and a cow, picking up a different horse, and heading north to p-town on the 26th. Greg is leaving the 28th to come back to Oklahoma. My return date is still questionable.

My birthday was good. 4-H had their holiday luncheon that day so I went over to it and caught up with old co workers. (Note to Kellie - Judy is a Grandma, everyone misses you, and there are lots of new faces there. )

I guess I should get back to work. I thought I had a picture of our Christmas tree but I can't seem to find it. Maybe I'll take some pictures this weekend and post before I leave for break.

Blog Tag Game

I'll post some pictures and other random stories later today or tomorrow.

McKenzie, friend, former roommate and fellow blogger, tagged me in a little blog game. Here are 7 random things about me (that you probably don't care about):

1. I have an obsession with desserts, I cannot resist them, ever. Especially cakes and cookies, pies, ice cream is my biggest weakness.

2. I really want a dog. A Pembroke Welsh Corgi and I want to name it Riley. Preferably a tri-color. Not that I am picky or anything.

3. I want to travel and visit every state. Greg and I travel some, but it seems to be the same places.

4. My birthday is tomorrow. I'm excited about it, but yet, not excited about being a year older.

5. I actually like living in Oklahoma. I miss my family and friends, but life is pretty good here, except the weather sucks today.

6.I love college football. Especially close games.

7. I love the Janet Evanovich books. I've read all the Stephanie Plum and the Metro books. Reading is very addicting to me.

Now, I'm tagging:

Wedding Pictures and random thoughts

The Lehenbauer's are not a photogenic family. Trust me, we have squinty eyes! Today we took surprise pictures for our new website at work. Needless to say, I settled on one where I don't look to squinty, but my hair is a disaster!

Anyways, Andy and Jessica's wedding album and photographs are now posted for viewing. Check them out at http://silverboxphotographers.blogspot.com/. Scroll down and you will see some of the pictures, but make sure to click on the album at the bottom of the pictures to see them set to music (and ignore me and my eyes!). You can also see some of the other P-town couples Kim has taken photographs for, including Mark and Amy. (For those from Palmyra, she also took Jenelle and her husband's wedding pictures. It is listed under Jenelle and David on the left side).

To view all the wedding pictures log into: http://www.pictage.com/client/main.do, and search for Jessica Hannant or Andrew Lehenbauer pictures.

Anywho, a funny story I'll tell you. Yesterday, Jessica (co-worker) and I went to Oklahoma City to make employer visits. We dropped off a gift basket and thanked them for recruiting our students. Yesterday happened to be the day the weather was getting nasty. We made it back safely and made all our stops. But when Jess dropped me off at my car, I was thumping the windshield wipers and accidentally broke one. We were laughing so hard and couldn't get the wipers to do what we wanted. So, a random man came over to help us. This was slightly humiliating, since I tend to think I can take care of myself. anywho, she took it to campus transportation and got new wipers, but the situation was hilarious. Friday we are headed to Tulsa to make visits, so we will have to see what happens on that trip!

The wedding on Saturday was good, I'll try to post some pictures sometime. Tomorrow is party day, so I doubt it happens and Friday I'm out of the office, so maybe sometime next week. Speaking of which, you better mail my birthday card soon, my birthday is in 1 week! (Hint, Hint Eileen!)

Mark and Amy might come visit this weekend, so I've come up with a list of things we can do, like make Christmas cookies! I've had requests for my cut out cookies, so I hope to get those done soon!

I am thankful for....

This time of year makes me reflect back on all the things I am thankful and grateful for.
The top of the list has to be my awesome husband. Even though we don't always agree, I still love him anyway.
Second would have to be our families. I happen to think we have an awesome family and I miss them like crazy, but the time we get to spend with them is pretty special.
I'll follow that up with our friends. Whether here in Oklahoma or in Missouri or some other place, they make our life special. Especially when they go above and beyond the call of duty and feed and check our horse while we are gone (Thanks Willy and Steve!) and then let Greg borrow a trailer to haul the horse. In the short time we have been here, we have made many great friends. One of my biggest worries/concerns when moving here was I would not have any friends.
I am thankful for having a roof over my head and a warm place to sleep. I am grateful I have a job I enjoy and awesome coworkers. I watched the show Secret Millionaires the other night and it made me realize I have a pretty good life.

Thank you for being part of our lives!

Christmas time!!

It's finally December! This month is going to be crazy busy for us. We have something to do every weekend this month. I want Greg to get our tree this week so I can break out the Christmas decorations. I've started the Christmas cards with hopes of mailing them out this week or Monday.

Our friends Toni and Tracy are getting hitched this weekend in Stillwater. Greg is a groomsman and I am the herder of the family (making sure people do not leave before pictures). I'm excited for them.

Next week, I have secret santa exchange at work, Bunco with a gift exchange, and Pink Lady Lunch with a gift exchange. The women in our office are also having a date at the beauty bar downtown. All of these activites happen next Thursday, so it will be a busy day!

On top of all this, Greg is traveling and will be gone some, so before we know it, we will be leaving to head back to Missouri for Christmas. I am staying in Missouri until after the New Year and riding back to Oklahoma with Kara and Zoie. I'm excited to spend some time with my family and catch up with friends.

I'll post about the Thanksgiving weekend hopefully sometime soon. Alas, I did not take any pictures. Yes, I am a slacker.

happy thanksgiving!!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

We are headed east tonight. We are going to drive for a little while and then stop and stay somewhere and finish our drive on Wednesday. Greg is still not feeling well and he needs to get his rest.

I'm off to storage for work. Hopefully I'll remember to take pictures this weekend. We have Greg's family cattle sale and a wedding on Saturday.

Also, please cheer for the COWBOYS on Saturday to beat the Sooners.

Finally, it's Friday and another boy

I'm so glad it's Friday. This has been the longest week ever!

The baby boy boom continues. My friend Adrienne and her husband Chris welcome their first child last week on the 11th (I believe). They have named him Aiden John.

Greg is sick right now. He has a sinus infection/cold. I hope he gets better before we leave for Missouri next week.

Have a great weekend!

Success!!

Eileen found our trailer in Louisville while at the stock show! I looked on EBay, but I did find what I wanted.

I also received my books in the mail yesterday. I was really excited, Greg was not.

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is almost here. Hopefully at this time next week we will be headed east to Greg's parents. They have their annual sale the day after Thanksgiving. I haven't been there since March, so I'm excited to see everyone. I think Eileen and I might go shopping on Friday morning for the fun of it.

Christmas.... need help!!

I'm in need of a "moo-moo hauler" for my niece for Christmas. It is also known as a toy livestock trailer. It needs to open so she can put the cows in it. She is 2 1/2 so it needs to be durable and needs to be larger than 1/64 scale. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

EBay is bad news....

Ebay is the devil, stay away kids!!! I purchased 35 Janet Evanovich books online today. I was really upset about losing an auction for 36 books last night so I was out for revenge today. Granted it is only costing me $2.30 a book, but still...

So there may or may not have been a kid with a gun on the first floor of my building today.

I still am not a 100%. I've been fighting a sinus infection for at least 2 weeks now. I guess if I don't magically get better over the weekend I'll go to the doctor. I don't want medicine to interfere with wedding festivities.

I leave in 17 to 18 hours to head north. I'm so excited about!

Recap of my day - I bought 35 books online. I also am the high bidder on a lot of about 40 books. Does anyone see a problem here????

GO VOTE!!!!

So I hope everyone goes and votes today. I voted at 7:30 this morning and was the 38th person to vote. I was impressed that many people had voted since we live in a small community.

I cleaned the other camera off today, hence the three posts.

Have a great day!

Introducing Jake's Proud Jazz (I think)

Introducing Jake's Proud Jazz (I think that's what Greg named him):

He's just a baby, he was born in March of this year. He is a sweetie and extremely gentle. He only went a little crazy the first time Greg put the saddle on him.

Pumpkins..

We carved pumpkins on Friday and this was the outcome:

Heading north in t minus two days..

The big wedding is this weekend, the last of the Lehenbauer's to get married. Andy and Jessica are tying the knot on Saturday. I am leaving on Thursday and hopefully someone is going to pick me up in Chillicothe and take me home. I'm leaving my car there for Greg because he is in Iowa Wednesday through Friday morning. Needless to say, there will be lots of running around to get everyone there on time!

My dad said harvest is going well, most of the beans are out. They are hoping nothing breaks and they can run all week and make a big dent in the remaining corn before the wedding activities begin. I can't wait to get home. I haven't been there since the first of June. I'm having withdrawl's!

I'll be driving Thursday morning, so feel free to call me, I'll be lonely driving by myself.

PS - Make sure to cheer for the Cowboys on Saturday. They play Texas Tech and we want a Cowboy VICTORY!!!!

Bondy's Wedding

Better late than never....

It was great to see friends who we hadn't seen in awhile and catch up with those we haven't seen since college.

The boys were not very cooperative when it came to picture time.

Slacker....

I always have good intentions to write more often, but it never seems to happen!

Greg and I bought our anniversary present over the weekend. We are the proud owners of a Wii and trust me it is addicting! We are going to ask for some games for Christmas.

The Cowboys played a great game over the weekend. This weekend should be an easy game for them.

Greg is working with the colt we have at our house. He put a saddle on him today and I guess he didn't really like it. I'll try to remember to get some pictures of him to post.

I am entering a pumpkin pie dessert in the United Way cook off on Friday. I made a trial run on Saturday and it passed at the football watch party. I hope the real thing turns out as well as the practice on.

I bought a Chi or a Croc flat iron. I'm pretty excited about it. I get to pick it up tonight after work. I got my hair cut last week and ordered it. I'm not sure which on Sheryl got for me. Her preference was the Croc.

I'm addressing invitations for Toni and Tracy's wedding tonight. I started on Sunday, but we run out of time.

The weather has finally turned somewhat cold. There was a light frost last night. I think it may be the end of the tomato plants. I picked a bunch this weekend and some that were nearing last night.

Not a whole lot is going on other than that. I finally won at Bunco last week. I split the biggest loser pot, so I won my $5 back.

I'll try to get pictures loaded sometime this week.

Happy Anniversary to us (yesterday)

I meant to post yesterday, but time escaped me and I'm short on time today too. So here are a few quick photos from last year on October 20th. I can't believe a year has gone by already. We went to dinner last night, but our plans didn't work out they way we hoped. Oh well.

A very fitting picture if you know what Greg does for a living.

To brighten your day...

I don't know how to dress myself. I need my mommy to come help me.

I went walking with Kara yesterday and picked up two different tennis shoes. Luckily, I had one for each foot, so I could still go walking, but I looked like an idiot.

Where has my mine gone????

Tulsa State Fair Cakes

At the Tulsa State Fair, there is a sugar art cake decorating competition. It has been featured on the Food Network.
Below are some of the pictures my friend Kara took while we were there:

I highly recommend checking it out if you are need Tulsa the first weekend of the fair.

Orange Peel...

So I'm headed off to Orange Peel tonight. It is a concert that is suppose to be like a pep rally. The Cowboys play Texas A & M tomorrow. In concert is Sugarland, Kellie Pickler, Motion City Soundtrack, and Ashton Shepherd. I'm not sure how excited I am to be going. We are eating dinner with the President. I hope the food is good, but I doubt it will be.

Greg took me to lunch today, because he is a great husband!!!

Go Tigers and Cowboys! If they both win, it will be the battle of the undefeated teams next weekend! :)

It's October already?? where does the time go?

I've been getting a few complaints about not updating the blog (aka Butch) so here it goes:

Pictures from the MO State Fair at the pig races:

Courtney Sparks and me

Courtney and her mom, Kristy

The infamous Barbie cake, complients of Karla from the 4-H office. The pink sprinkles are actually little pigs.

After the state fair, I started my new job at Career Services. Things are going well, hectic because it is recruiting season, but they will calm down soon. I hope.

Greg headed to his parents for a few days in August to help with the Missouri Angus Tour in Southeast Missouri. He hauled Angus (the horse) and a few calves home on that trip.

Greg came back and then headed to Montana for a few days for meetings. I went to the Payne county fair with Kara and had a corn dog and curly fries.

Greg in Montana for meetings:

He came back and then it was football season. The Cowboys and Tigers are both off to a great start. We have been tailgating when we can.

I gave up football tickets to help Greg wean some calves (am I great wife or what?) We also worked them and we didn't yell at each other too much, mainly just Greg yelling at the calves for being dumb.

A few days later, Greg headed to his parents to deliver these calves. (Do we see a reoccuring pattern here?, Greg goes home, Lesley works, Greg goes somewhere, Lesley stays home, I guess someone has to hold the fort down.) He was gone for week. While he was gone, I went to the Oklahoma City State Fair with my friend Kara. We had lemonade and indian tacos. We had a great time and did some shoppping. Greg came back and built a pen for our new horse. He weaned it on Thursday so it should move to our house sometime in the next week or so.

We went to the Tulsa State Fair on Sunday with Kara because the Sugar Art cake competion was going on. I'll post pictures of that when I get them from Kara. I'm a dork about those kinds of things. I had a funnel cake there.

Andy and Jessica are getting married in a little over a month. So I'll be back in Missouri then. I can't believe it is already October. Bunco is going well, I enjoy it. We have a couple of weddings coming up soon. I canned for the first time in August. It was some salsa. I think I'll have to make some more this weekend. My mind is going blank and my lunch break is almost over, so if anything else great comes to mind, I'll try to post it.

IT'S ANOTHER BOY!!!!

Bethany and Dusty Davis had their first child, a boy yesterday, September 8, 2008. They named him Brody Wayne. He was 9 lbs. 3.5 oz, 22.5 inches long and was born at 2:12 p.m. I don't have any other details, this is all the text message said.

CONGRATULATIONS! I can't wait to see your bundle of joy! :)

The baby flood of 2008 continues..........

IT'S A BOY!!!

Tara and Sam Huff welcomed their new bundle of joy yesterday, August 28, 2008. They have named him Carson Alexander. He weighed 8 lbs 12 oz, was 21 inches long, and was born at 5:21 p.m. Tara reported he has a full head of dark hair. Tara said she will go home tomorrow (Saturday) from the hospital.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Tara has been a close and great friend since elementary school. We played basketball and tennis together (we were doubles partners) in middle and high school, went to MIZZOU (Go Tigers!), were in each other's wedding, the list goes on. On of my favorite memories is Tara's birthday parties, especially 4th grade when her brother scared the poop out of us!

I'm really excited for them!

Life is CRAZY!

The blog has taken a backseat lately because my life has become hectic. I am enjoying the new job, it is gearing up to be recruiting season, so we are super busy! Oh, and school started so there are students milling about also.

I have a ton of tomatos from my garden. I've made a couple batches of salsa and given MANY cherry tomatos away (I really don't like them). I think there will be another salsa batch made this weekend.

Greg was gone all last week. He went to his parents for the Missouri Angus Tour. He left Wednesday and returned last night. However, he flies to Montana tomorrow and flies back on Thursday. So I've been baching it. He took Angus (the horse) back to Missouri and he said my horse looked really good. (she's at his parents house).

We are going to do the Oklahoma Angus sale tour this weekend I think. Express, Pollard, Limestone, and Luddington's all have sales this weekend. I'm looking forward to spending some quality time in the car with Greg. I might have missed him a teeny tiny bit!

I played Bunco last Thursday. I loved it! We are going to play once a month and I am looking forward to next month's game. I knew some of the people, but the majority of us are non-Oklahomans (originally) so it was nice to meet new people. I hung out with my girl Kara this weekend. We did a little shopping and I got a super sweet wallet. I also convinced Kara to go to church with me on Sunday. Our church here got a new pastor and it was his first day. He did a good job, but talked fast.

I'm missing Jessica's shower this weekend :( but you should check out their engagement picture album on the Silverbox photographers blog. It's linked to mine, search for Andy and Jessica on the right column.

I doubt I have time to write much in the next month or two, but I'll try to keep you up to date with what's happening in Oklahoma.

Baby Watch 2008: Tara is overdue (the 22nd was her due date), so pray that she has this baby boy; Bethany is nearing her due date (the 12th I think); Kristy is having baby #2! (in Feb); Adrienne in Nov; I know there is more, but my mind has went blank

Monday...

I survived my first week at the new job. It was hectic and busy, but I loved it. Classes started today, so things will really pick up soon.

State fair was good, alas some drama. It's not the fair without drama. I did get to see the parents, grandparents and sister-in-law. I was excited about that. Courtney Sparks is adorable, I'll have to post a picture of us when I get my pictures downloaded.

I had a Barbie cake for my going away party in 4-H, need to post a picture. Long story as to why Barbie, but there is a reason.

I start Bunco this week. I've never played but I'm excited about it.

Thursday, August 7, 2008

STATE FAIR, here we come!

Greg and I are headed north after lunch today to Sedalia. The 4-H office is having a going away lunch for me. I brought Greg along and he is annoying me right now. Give us a call if you are in Sedalia this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

I am EMPLOYED!

Just to fill you in, if you didn't get the email, I HAVE A JOB!

Those who have talked to me in recent months know this has been a large stressor in my life. I've interviewed and applied for jobs, but hadn't found the right one yet. Well...... the right job came along. I applied, interviewed and received an offer yesterday. I accepted and begin work on Aug 11. I will be working for the Oklahoma State University Career Services on the HireOSUgrads team. I am really excited about this opportunity. The people seem awesome and I'm excited to work with employers and students. My faith and belief the right job would come along when it was suppose to helped my throughout this process.

Yesterday was my last official day at the State 4-H office, but I volunteered my services for today's closing ceremony. It has been a crazy week, but every minute has been worth it.

Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye today to a great friend, Kellie. Her and her husband are leaving Monday morning to head home to Oregon. It has been a great two years and I treasure our friendship. The emotional roller coaster is only going to get worse next week, when I say farewell to the 4-H office.

So, have a great weekend, I know I will.

Acklin Wedding

We drove to Warrensburg, Missouri on Friday for the Acklin-Hubbard wedding. After rehearsal and dinner, we headed to a lounge near the hotel for drinks.

Jody, Me, and Megan; Saturday Meg and I went and got pedicures. It was great!
The girls at the lounge. The bride is in the vertical stripes. and yes, Megan is really that tall.
Greg and Josh waiting for the couple to come out of the church. The tan tuxes looked sharp!

They put the truck on blocks. Adam had to put it in 4x4 to get it off. The best part is he thought his clutch had went out, until they told him.
The Northwest Missouri tradition is to decorate underwear and hang it on the vehicle.
Greg and I outside the church
Greg with Josh and H. Max and Lula at the reception. Greg knows them from when he worked in Northwest Missouri.
The groom's sister and former sorority sister of mine, Melanie.
The Meier's and Mr. and Mrs. Adam and April Acklin

We had a great weekend!

Haircut and Weekend

So, I got my hair cut today. This is the new do. I'm not real crazy about the "bangs" but it will grow out. They keep getting into my eye balls. I'm dooomed to have short hair the rest of my life!

It's officially the weekend for me! Greg and I are leaving in the morning to head to Warrensburg for the Acklin-Hubbard wedding festivities. I'm really excited about it. I think I just want to get out of Oklahoma! So have a great weekend and hopefully I'll have some great stories to tell next week!

How I miss fair season!

I am feeling pretty homesick right now and I really hate to admit it. For some reason this year I am having withdrawls from the county fairs. The fairs in Oklahoma just aren't the same as back in the Show Me state. I miss the truck and tractor pulls, car and combine demo derby's, funnel cakes, lemonade, seeing old friends, rides, etc. The list could go on and on. Do I sound redneck or what?

I also miss showing cattle, maybe because I've been removed from it for so long now, I forgot about all the work and money that went into it. I do miss the weight loss from all that hard work! :) I think I miss all the brushing and rinsing, but once again, has my memory just erased the frustrations?

B & J Enchantress, my last show heifer in 2002.
My senior picture, like the red pants?

Each county fair we went to was special in its own way and I have special memories for each. Monroe County usually involved some wild calf running loose on the ball field, Shelby County was the first county fair of the year, Montgomery County always had good entertainment, including the year a bunch of us girls did the greased pig contest. Adams County (IL) always a catch up with friends and dancing. The National White Park show was also here. We showed at the Lewis County, Vandalia, and the NEMO district fair occasionally. I have a scar above my eye from the NEMO fair and a pickup truck mirror! There was always the good old Marion County fair. Oh the stories I could tell about this fair. The water fights and Pioneer water jugs are a few that come to mind.

Besides county fairs, there were the jackpots shows in the spring. The most fun was had when Amy, Brock, Mark, Andy, and I would travel together. We were a well oiled machine when it came to unloading, loading, feeding, fitting, etc. We'll never let Amy live down the Teddy Grahams and "eat me, eat me" story! (I love you Amy!) There was drama, crushes, fights, laughter, sweat, tears, and blood, but through it all we had a great time together and were a family. It is these memories I cherish. I'm missing my family, especially my brothers right now. It wasn't always easy being the only girl especially when it was just Mark, Ryan, Timmy, and Andy (before Amy and Brock). You never know what crazy thing Mark and Ryan were going to do together! (Cruising campus with calves on back, ring a bell?)

My last Marion County Fair, with Andy. I use to be skinny, what happened to me?

The Marion County fair starts Saturday. I really want to be home for it, but I can't. So I'll just live vicariously through others' stories about their fair experiences. On the bright side, we are going to the State Fair, the granddaddy of them all. I can hardly wait for the next 2.5 weeks to pass. The only two state fairs I have missed have been 2006 and 2007, both because I was in Oklahoma. Mom even went when she was pregnant with me. Needless to say, withdrawl has set in.

Anyway, enough about the past, I'm looking forward to making memories this year. So if you are at the fair the first weekend, give me a hollar, I'd love to meet up at the wine tent, Good Time Charlies, the Bud tent, or the barns and catch up. (I think I'm WAY too old for tieout parties). Which reminds me of watermelons..........
