Our 5 Year Old

Miriam turned 5!!! The craziness! I can't even believe it. She is such a sweetie. I think this picture perfectly shows the pure excitement that emanates from a child on their birthday. Christmas and Birthdays are so incredibly exciting. Everything is about you. Miriam might have taken that a little far and wanted to ride her bike in the rode and ask for other random things that could not be given.

This girl has been talking nonstop about having a Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer cake and party since Christmas. I thought she might forget, but she did not. We have been listening to Christmas music from December to May and occasionally watching the old Christmas Rudolph movie. That girl is a crack up. So when her birthday rolled around a Rudolph cake it was. I used google images to find a template and worked from there with brownies and sugar cookie dough and some candy and I think it turned out pretty well.

This year was a family party year instead of friend, which is so much less work for me. In the Christmas theme we had the kids decorate the Daddies (Glenn and Uncle Mike) as Christmas trees using crepe paper and whatever else they wanted really. The kids thought it was so silly. The Mom's got to be the judges.

Aunt Lyssa also made a abominable snowman poster board for me to use at Miriam's birthday night. We played pin the star on the monster's hand (similar to the movie where the monster gets the job at the end putting the star on the tree, just in case you have not seen the movie a billion times, like Miriam). A funny little side note, while brainstorming what to pin on the abominable snowman, Glenn through out Rudolph in his mouth (once again, like the movie). Miriam thought it was so funny and was pretty excited about pinning Rudolph in his mouth, however that was a little too much cutting out for me to do.

After the kids took their turns with the monster the dad's took turns. It was lots
of fun. They had just as much if not more fun than the kids.

Marcus begged for a gumball and lucky guy he got one. Even after lots of talk about not swallowing it, what did he do? Swallow it of course!

Rebekah playing in the left over crepe paper from the trees.

This girl is so much fun! Oh to be 5 again and so full of life and joy! She makes me smile and laugh everyday!
