Planes, Trains, and automobiles

Last night I looked around my house to see princess shoes, pink panties, purple dressup clothes, betty spaghetti doll pieces, and lip gloss strewn about the family room floor. I laughed a little simply because I think our family is going to have to change our thinking around here a bit. As I mentioned in the last post we recently received a train set for Miriam's birthday and a few cars. So around our house that is as masculine as it gets. So...welcome planes, trains, cars, trucks, dinosaurs, and perhaps a new load of laundry filled with blues, reds, greens and oranges. Yes...you got it we are expecting a boy. The White name will live on...much to Glenn's pleasure.

Yesterday was our ultrasound. I am pretty sure I have not mentioned baby news yet on the blog, but by now most people know...if not sorry, if I announce earlier I am more prone to complaining and whining and who wants that. So the ultrasound went well. I think it surprised both Glenn and I that it was a boy. I suppose we were expecting the baby to be a girl because that is what we are used to. The baby looks healthy and everything measured just right for 20 weeks...so we are happy campers. Bekah is excited that she guessed right and she really wants a baby brother so she can "match" her cousins Hannah, Elle, Jesse, and Nate.

So there you go...there is some fun news. The due date is Oct 17th...if only we knew where we will be living by then?? We will keep you posted on that within the next month.

2 yrs old

I can't believe how our little Miriam has changed and grown up. She is such a fun little girl. We love her snuggles and loves and she keeps us laughing. I am sure she will claim the title of family clown. She loves to make us laugh. Here are some cute pictures of her.

Okay, so admitedly I was somewhat of a slacker mom this year. I do not usually do friend parties, but we hardly even had a family party. I still don't think Miriam even minded. On her birthday she kept singing Happy Birthday to herself, it was so cute. Glenn worked late so we decided to celebrate the following day. So on the next day we did a million and one things cite seeing in Manhatten with Spencer, so instead of going home to make a cake we went to Juniors and had dinner and cheesecake while Miriam slept in her stroller. I know I am terrible. So we brought home one of these and put two candles in it and she was happy as can be.

Then we opened gifts. I think her two favorite gifts were a scooter that is the same as Bekah's but blue and she happens to be a good little rider, but she doesn't understand that she has to stop at street corners so for now it is an inside scooter. For the first week she rode it around everywhere. We would ask her to go brush her teeth and she would ride it to the bathroom. She loved running little errands for us because she got to ride it back and forth. Now all she does is ride it back and forth until she hits the wall that stops her. She loves it.

The second favorite gift was a train set from ikea. I love this trian set and have had my eye on it for a while. It is a wood set, but it only costs $12.99 and it serves all the purposes that an expensive one costs. Miriam LOVES it. So thanks Grandma and Grandpa White.

Thanks to Nana and Papa, Grandma White, and Aunts and Uncles who sent gifts. I didn't get any birthday pictures because our camera was out of battery from our few days of cite seeing...ooops!! I am thinking of redoing it, because how sad is it not the have pictures or even a real cake.

More of Spencer's Visit

We weren't planning on going to FAO Schwarts but ended up there for a while and played. Glenn and Spencer took the girls on the big piano. The guys also had to get thier pictures with the giant chewbauka and darth vader made out of legos. We started the day off with going to Rockefeller Center and took pictures and saw the sights. Glenn and Spencer "accidently" wore very similar shirts. I am of course under the impression that Spencer just looks up to his cool big brother so much that he wanted to match him. So flattering!! One day you can be like Glenn, Spencer.

We spent some time in Central park. Spencer and the girls took a ride on the Carosel. Bekah of course loved it and Miriam was so curious about where the music was coming from it was funny. She did start smiling after going around a few times.

Glenn and Spencer also spent a day walking around wall street while the girls and I stayed home. Here is a picture of Spencer in front of the Bull on Wall Street.

Another Visitor

Uncle Spencer Friend has come to visit........
Here are a few pictures from our first day of having fun.

We headed up to Battery City Park to get a good view of the Statue of Liberty. We found a fun little area where they were having some fun children's outdoor activities for kids. Miriam and Bekah had a great time. We walked up and met Glenn for a few minutes too.

We played at the park by our house for a bit while waiting for our table at the Lucalis. The girls always have fun with Uncle Spencer. We got some cute pictures of their smiles and giggles. But I think I need to say a little something about Lucalis. It is a couple of blocks from our house and every time we pass it there are people waiting outside for a table. We have heard from a few in the area the the pizza is amazing and rivals Grmaldi's which is the famous pizza place of brroklyn. I honestly think it was the best pizza I have ever tasted. Glenn was still working, so Spencer and I thought we would save him a piece or two. We were sorely wrong. The girls and Spencer and I ate the whole thing, so we ordered a calzone for Glenn when he got home. When we got home and put the girls in bed and then we ate half of the calzone before Glenn got home. It was too delicious to leave alone. We will definitely go back and hopefully soon.

Parsons Fashion Show

There are definitely times as a mother that you would like to split yourself in two. Well Thursday was one of those days. We finally had the fashion show at Parsons Fashion School. I had to debate being there with Bekah through the excitement or watching from the crowd. Such a difficult choice, but since I was the parent with one less child I volunteered to stay backstage with Bekah and the other kids. Bekah has been so excited!! We have been meeting with Chelsea who was the design student that made Bekah's outfit, whom Bekah and Miriam have fallen in love with. The theme for this years show (at least the kids section) was Tokyo Street Wear 1995 (I thought it was a little random, but I am not a fashion gooroo).

The day had finally come and we have been practicing walking to peppy music for a while now. Miriam spent the day with a very kind friend and Bekah and I headed up to Manhatten to start our fun day. We got there and did hair and changed into her outfit. A few of her friends were there from the ward who were models too. So she had lots of fun running around with her friends. We then headed downstairs to the runway where the kids did a practice round. The kids did excellent (so I was told, I couldnt' really see from backstage). I was afraid that Bekah would get nervous and not want to go down the runway, but she was so brave and I don't even think she was scared. The other 9 kids were excited and were so willing to do it that they just followed each other. I loved hearing the cheers from the crowd as they went out there, wondering what the kids were doing to cause such a reation.

After the practice round we headed upstairs for pizza and some down time. Bekah changed out of her fashion clothes and played around a bit. The only sad thing was that somehow some pizza grease still ended up getting on her pretty outfit. Even though she didn't eat in it and her hands were washed before putting it back on. I really felt terrible about it, because Chelsea had worked on it so hard and it was her final project and it got grease on it. I know she was so worried everyone would notice and especially her teacher. I felt so so bad!!! We had Bekah put her hand in the pocket closest to the pizza grease and she was sure to swing her arms a bit so hopefully it would be less noticeable. We got dressed again and headed downstairs for the real thing. There were 10 kid models and over 100 adult models. Luckily the kids were first and the crowd went crazy over the kids. It was so fun to hear. The kids went out one after another with excitement and some nervousness. I gave Bekah a little kiss on the cheek as I sent her up the steps to the stage. Bekah did so well, I was so proud of her. I only wish I could have seen her go down the runway. Some friends took some nice pictures of her which was so nice of them. I could tell she was a little nervous, because she put her tongue in her cheek while walking down the runway. I actually love it!!! I think she was so darling. My friend took a video of it so I am going to try and get a copy so I can see it. She returned with a huge smile. I could tell she was so proud of herself and I was so happy to give her a big hug a lots of praise.

We headed back upstairs changed clothes and said goodbye. Bekah got a little keepsake from the day. Chelsea painted her shoes pink with sparkles and made a matching pair for herself. She let Bekah keep the shoes. She bounced home so cute and happy. It was a fun day and I am sure we would have never have had an experience like that if we did not live in NYC.

Aunt Heather Visits

The girls had so so so so much fun with their Aunt Heather who visited this weekend. We played lots and took some fun trips into Manhatten. I only have pictures of the first day or so because after that most of the pictures were taken on Heather's camera, so I will post more when those get sent to us. Here are a few from our visit to FAO Schwarts, which is always a fun place for the kids. The ones of us outside are from Union Square. We really had a great time and miss her already. Altogether we visited FAO Schwarts, went to Union Square and then to Juniors for Cheesecake, Heather and I went to the Little Mermaid Broadway show, visited Central park, Heather visited the shops on 5th Ave in NYC, and we visited Glenn in the financial district. It was a great time. Thanks for coming to visit Heather.
