Crying...

Today, I overturned and spill my precious breast milk, not once, but TWICE!!! It was literally a situation of crying over spilt milk. *sobs* 好不容易squeeze, massage and pumped out that pathetic bit, end up half of it was spilt.. I havent really figured a good way to manage the pump, cause the funnels are heavier and tend to cause the bottles to be loop-sided and overturn. hais..

Baby Emma at Day 12:

She has puny eyes, like her parents.. lol. Sometimes it can be quite big though. But mummy and daddy still love you!! *muaks*

Day 10

At day 10 after delivery and 3 sessions of massages, this is what my tummy has become. Think not much significant changes already, the rest shld depend on my exercise regime after Ive fully recovered from labour.

I haven lost much weight thou, still 7kg to go... But cause im breast feeding, so part of the weight goes to the milk factory and supply production. Cant go on diet as well, cause it will affect my milk supply. So ya, theres basically noting i can do about it number wise on the weighin machine.

Baby Emma at 10 days old

She has somehow come to a routine schedule (hopefully), she'll wake up for a feed in the morning, then my mum would bath her, after which she would stay awake staring into ceiling, looking left and right for an hour or 2 sometimes stretching to 3. Then its time for her next feed again, afterwhich she more or less sleeps through the rest of the day, waking up only for feeds.

Adios!

Day 8

Time flies and baby Emma is with us for a week already! She is 8 days old today!

After my first session of massage yesterday:

Massues says theres still lotsa water retention, so hopefully it'll be gone after 10 sessions. Enough of me, Emma!

'I love to bite my hands/ fingers! Thats why mummy made me wear mittens, but I always still bite them off!

'Finally daddy and mummy stop restricting my hands! No more full swaddling, only my legs. So now i sleep in surrender position.'

'Check out how big my mouth can open!'

Ok, now enjoying my 2nd week of maternity leave. Read newspapers. =)

Day 6 - Post natal massage

Ive never expected it to be so disgusting. Now, i smell like a construction worker. Im perspiring all over and covered with oil from my head scalp to my fingers to my toes. To get the best effect out of this, Im suppose to sleep overnight in this. But how to!!!!!! Im not even sleeping, Im just sitting here doing noting, and Im freaking uncomfortable already. How to sleep in it!!

Hence, Im just gona do the minimum, 8 hours, and I definately need to BATH!!!!

Apart from the disgusting perspiration and oily me, the massage was wonderful! She helped me clear my milk ducts, and my boobies felt more 'free'. lol. And the massage was so comfy, that I fell asleep twice and was woken up by my own snore!!

I think im begining to enjoy my maternity leave!

First trip out!

Baby Emma's first outing, which is to the gynae and to see the pd.

She was super wide awake, looking here and there. Not bad for our first trip out with Baby! We were kinda in fear for a disaster where she will cry the sky down for reason we cant figure out.

Till next outing! Hopefully can venture to a proper place!

Day 5

Yes Im pumping again.

This is what is left of my tummy:

Going to start my 10 day massage on Wedesday, hopefully will regain my original tummy. Im still recovering from other areas, my pelvic is damn painful, my pubic bone as well, my episotomy wound is painful. So basically its pain lower part down everywhere. *sobs*

I think the swell of my feet has gone away.

Has it?

I haven lost much weight over the past 2 days, 1kg only, because Im still trying extremely hard to breastfeed, so cant go on diet.

Continue my pumping..

Pump Pump Pump!!

Up since 5 am, initally was a scheduled pumping session (pumping air to be exact, since my boobies are still failing me. Hoping that they will come soon after stimulating for the past 4 days. I wana see the LIGHT!)

While I was 10 mins into my pumping session, Emma wakes up early for her meal. By the time she finishes her milk session, after burping her, changed her diapers, its now, 6:30 am. Since i only pumped for 10 mins jus now, I had to redo my pump so that i can rest longer. So now, im still pumping while keeping my hands busy. 15 mins down, 15 more
mins to go.

I wana sleep!!

Day 4

Ending my day 4 soon, pumpin my boobies away now while blogging, but till now one of my boobies are not having any milk AT ALL, and I cant latch the baby on tat side as my nippies arent able to fulfil the initial criteria. Pardon all the breastfeedin talk, breastfeeding is a painful (literally) and irritating affair. So baby Emma is now partially living off one boobie for milk, and ive started giving her formula since yesterday. Its much happier to see her with her satisfied face after the formula feed, aka she stopped crying. Tomorrow ill contact a lactation consultant preferbly to do house visit and see whats the problem with my boobies!!

Its damn tiring to wake up every 3 hourly, the day ones are alright, but the midnights one are the worst. A typical feed, 1 i start feeding, by the time i finish both boobies, its 2. So far all the time hubs will sterlise, wash the equipments for me. Hubs will aso top up and feed Emma formulae so that i can rest. Hubs will also do the diaper changing after each feed. But normally ill hang around and help while he does that, by the time the ritual is over, it'll be 3. So i'll only left 1 hour to rest before im due for my nex feed again, at 4.

All of the above, i hate them all. Dont get me wrong, i still love my baby, but prob i hate doing everyting above to want to go through all that for a 2nd one so far. Hubs agreed too.

I wouldnt have made through 4 days without hubs. He helped out so much so much so that i can get the max rest. Of cause he can jus stand there for a long long time doing noting, but jus staring at Emma, so i guess secretly maybe he likes doing it too. lol. Anyway i dread the next few days, cause hubs is returning to work. All i can tink of to make myself not fall into a potential depression is our hawaii trip.

ok, my session is over. i need to sleep.

Emma, I still love you, please try to cry lesser, i really duno wat u wan..

3 Days 2 Nights (Expensive) Staycation

When I finally fall asleep at about 5am, the baby is due for her next feed at 5:45am. When she finish her feed, its 6:30am. So, ya, Im awake again!

Anyway we're checking out today. Had a 3 days 2 nights stay at Gleneagles, we were initially at a 2-bedder cause all the one bedder were full, we were 4th on the waitlist for the one bedder. But the first night, though we were on a two bedder, there was no one occupying the next bed!! So it was as good as a one bedder plus we only paid for a 2 bedder price! And hubs got to stay over without getting chased since there was no patients, 2 bedder not suppose to have lodger, so we were happy afterall! 2nd day we managed to get ourselves a one bedder which was good too, cause someone checked in and they were quite noisy, so many visitors, cant rest properly.

The nurses were good, from the labour ward midwives, to the room nurses. I dint expect them to have quite good services, cause i heard that TMC services were quite screwed up these few months cause they were full house. So expecting similar things to happen here at GlenE, but overall Im very happy here!

Wide awake again

I just had my previous feed to Emma at 2.45am, now at 4.30am I am still wide awake. Very good.

Birth Story

19 April 2012:

4am: My waterbag bursts while I was sleeping. Its a weird feeling. Its like a dam broke open, and a sudden gush of water jus flow out from the vagina and it woke me up from my sleep. Woke up hubby, removed the bedsheet, (we were kinda prepared for this, hence already put a sheet of waterproof mat below the bedsheet).

4:30am: We were out of the house after a quick cleanup. Went for a Macdonalds drive through for a fillet-o-fish meal. Best decision ever, cause the next time i had any food was dinner at 7pm, and drink was 4pm after my delivery. Was freaking hungry and thirsty.

5:45am: Settled down in labour room, was 4cm dilated. Nurse commented quite fast. No contractions at all so far, so dint ask for epi.

8am: I had less than 10 contractions that were still bearable. They were about pain level of 6 out of 10. I asked for epi, cause I dint want to risk not being in time to use it, since the nurse commented I was dilating fast.

9:45am: Dr Lee came, and I was 7cm dilated! He said that the baby would probably arrive about 2pm.

Nothing really happened in between. It was just this

And this

And more of

We were just waiting for dilation.

2pm: Nurse checked and I was about 9.5cm dilated.

3pm: Dr Lee came and I was fully dilated, but he say baby is in OP to the nurse. Ive got totally no idea what that meant, i jus want to put it down. lol. He say can start pushing and to call him when ready. Nurse start to prep, and the next thing i was pushing away. There was no pain at all, but i can feel myself pushing my guts out and everything.

3:25: Dr came, 2 more last pushes, one for her head, and one for her shoulders, the next thing she was lying on me.

Baby Emma weighs 3.49kg which was quite big for my size. She bruised my bladder so theres blood in my urine, but dr say it'll recover quickly. Any bigger she'll be difficult for me as well. Length at 52cm.

For a baby with such small mouth, she can suckly quite well, after her 3rd session of suckling, she kinda became a vampire, my nipples were bleeding already, and i believe she took some of it. Someone need to invent epidural for breastfeeding, its freaking painful.

Happy daddy!

We'll leaving for home tomorrow! Please dont cry so much.. theres no nursery at home where i can ask the nurse to wheel her away.

By the way, I'm feeling the after effects of the pushing now, its like recovering from a mega exercise session. My arms aches like shit, not so much on my thighs since Ive been pretty diligent in my thigh exercises.

Ok, now wish me luck on my breastfeeding journey!

Wohooo~

Yesterday evening, we had our third waffle in 4 consecutive days. The first 2 we had it at Bliss Restaurant, initally we thought it had closed down at Punggol Park and was delighted to know it actually moved to AMK! We went on Thurs and Fri to eat and hangout a little, went back on Sat noon to eat lunch but it wasnt open =(

Anyways, then we went Vivo on Sat to have our fav waffles at Max Bruners!

Was up at 7.30am today, and still tryin to catch up as much movies before Emma comes, watching Hunger Games!

A very early timing though, 10.30am. lol. Cause of our tight schedule today, theres a 3pm Shanghai race, so we have to be home in time for that.

The good thing is theres no work tomorrow!!! Did i mention i had a horrible last day on Friday. I thought i can handover and go off on time. But NO! People have to call me at 5pm to ask me things, people have to give me work at 6pm. Whats wrong with them!!!??!! And so i dint manage to leave work till 7++.

Anyway backs to my weekend, we had finally affix the car seat to the car to fetch Emma home:

Also to sun it a bit. We believe to always use a car seat, these are meant for newborns as well. Carrying a baby in your hands, any e-break, shes the first to fling out of ur arms! So, yes, safety first.

Cotton On Kids

My favourite shopping hunt so far in sg for baby emma's clothes - Cotton On Kids (mainly the outlet stores), or when the main stores are on sale.

Went to IMM just now and got a few tops for her all at $7.50 each!

Basically my budget for her clothes are $10 per piece. Cause she'll probably would outgrow them quite quickly and for that amount of cloth used, anything more than $10 is jus too much.

Week 38

At week 38, baby Emma is 3.05kg, gained 150grams since a week ago and mummy lost 1kg!! i think its all the walking and shopping yesterday.

Dr Lee says baby is moving lower downwards (which is good), but I will be feeling all the discomfort as she moves lower. He'll be away from 12-15th nex week, so hopefully Emma is good and stay inside for the time being.

Happy Good Friday!!!

After 1/5 of a sleepless night, we start our morning bright and shine early at 8am!! Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night again, and spend about 2 hours trying to get back to sleep. That was on top of the fact that i woke up 874 times to pee yesterday night (and every other night).

Progress update at week 38!

Im suffering from severe bloatness everywhere now.

Lately Ive been into instagram as well, especially after my maternity shoots turn out quite to my liking even using an iphone and instagram. Chio boh?

Anyway since we're up, and enjoying our last of couple-ism for the last 2 weeks, we need to catch up with the movies before we go on a hatus for some time..

The earliest show is at 11:15am, so now, we're jus... waiting for time to passsssss....

Crab-y dinner at punggol! The environment was really good, cause its kinda by the 'riverside' and surprisingly on a Wednesday night, the place was quite crowded.

We had chilli crab and a vege, hubs say the crab not very fresh, but the gravy was not bad thou.

Conclusion: we will return!
