Please take a moment to read this . . .

I found this on Kimber's Blog:
If the Red shirt thing is new to you, read below...

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together. After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

'No' he responded.

'Heading out' I asked?

'No. I'm escorting a soldier home.'

'Going to pick him up?'

'No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq, I'm taking him home to his family.'

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days. I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, 'Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.' Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom:

'Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign.' Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.

Red Fridays.

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority.' We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, Country and Home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a home coming football game in the bleachers.

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is 'We need your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

Tears did come to my eyes as I read this . . . my Dad was in Vietnam and I've always been very proud of that! I'm proud to be an American and I'm proud of our soldiers who are fighting for our Freedom today! I have a hard time holding back the tears when I hear our National Anthem (even at the beginning of a Nascar race), or at 4th of July parades when Veteran's of past wars march past me, Veteran's Day parades and assemblies at my kiddos school honoring our local Veteran's. I know that this coming Veteran's Day will even be harder to deal with since it will be the one-year anniversary of my FIL's passing, he too was a Veteran. This photo was taken at Jakob's school Veteran's Day assembly this year, the same day we got the phone call about Joe's Dad . . . it was a very emotional day and this is such a touching photo!

Page Plans' 1st Reveal . . .

The first set of sketches designed by Chris Ross are up at Page Plans, here's mine . . .

Kaitie found a quote on myspace that I thought would make perfect journaling for a LO of her. We changed and added words to fit her and this is what we came up with . . . I know that "Unperfect"is not a word, but it seems to fit a teenage girls vocabulary.

Each Sunday they reveal a new set of sketches and the Design Teams take on each one. You will have the opportunity to complete one of the sketches and enter it in the weekly challenge for a little goodie package. Sketches will post on Sunday - so they will need your entries by the following Saturday and they will announce the winner on Sunday with the next set of sketches. If you have any questions at all - please feel free to email Lesli and Chris at pageplans@gmail.com.

A sad moment . . .

***WARNING*** this picture I'm sharing with you may seem distasteful to some, but it meant a lot to my husband.

I just don't have any words of my own to share, so I'll use the words Joe shared with all his hunting buddies. I've never heard such nice things before, those men definitely can sympathize as all of their dogs are a big part of their lives . . .

I have had George since I have been married...fourteen yrs. he has been our family dog to my kids for their lifetimes...I knew that he was getting old but he seemed like he was gonna live forever...He was never much of a hunting dog...he contracted Parvo as a puppy even after he had his shots...he spent a week at the vets fighting to get better...he made it through but never turned out to be the hunting dog his mom was...the vet said that it had alot to do with him being sick as a pup...but he was one heck of a family pet...he would let my boy Jake ride him around the yard when he was smaller and just loved to hang around out in the sun on days like yesterday...I went out to feed him yesterday afternoon and seen he was sleeping in his Igloo with his head resting on his paws like I have seen him so many times in our fourteen years together...but this time when I called him he didn't move...he just laid there in his forever sleep...although I was prepared for the time, I knew it would still be hard to say good bye... I reached in and patted George on the head as I have done through all these years and said lets go...he was still warm and must have only missed his last breathes by a few minutes...I loaded him and the family up in the truck and drove him out to my in-laws place to lay him down for the last time...I am sure gonna miss my old dog George and his lonesome howl after he ate dinner every night...

Kaitie and Jakob both took this really hard, George has always been a part of their lives. And as silly as this sounds, I know that lil Dude (our dachshund) is really sad too! He's lost his best friend too . . .

If you LOVE sketches then you've got to check out . . .

My 1st Assignment for Craft Warehouse . . .

I've been busy working on my first assignment for CWH too . . . we got to play with two different lines from Sassafras Lass, the "Robotics" and the "Pocket Full of Rosies" lines. Also, two different clear stamp sets, the Doodled Dings and Olivia and Pals. Now, stamping has never really been my thing, but I have to admit those little owls are just too Cute!!!

I've never done an acrylic album before, so this was a real challenge for me. I'm happy with how it turned out and am kind of sad to see it go. It'll head to one of the ten stores in either Washington State, Oregon or Idaho. I definitely will be re-creating this to keep for myself! I had a little photo shoot with the kids while my nieces were here visiting from New Jersey during their Spring Break. The pictures weren't the greatest, it was cold and windy outside. But it was nice to get some pictures of them all together, it's been almost a year since they've seen each other.

And here's the 12x12 LO that I created of my cute, little nephew Mason. This picture was taken on Easter, he had me laughing so hard . . . I won't get into the story, but all day he kept saying "Jellyballs" instead of "Jellybeans"! It was hilarious!!! <---- OK, maybe you had to be there!

My Emotions (Confidence page)

Here's the final Emotion . . . My book is complete now! These past nine weeks have been a Blast, I'm kind of sad to see it come to an end! A special "Thanks" to Tam for doing this and for all the inspiration! :)
