Weekend Getaway

A few weekends ago was the Mountain West Tournament. It's BYU's Last year in the conference and we decided to head down for a mini vacation. It was much needed and we enjoyed every minute. Time was spent at the spa, golfing, dinner, pool and basketball games. It was a blast and we couldn't ask for better company.
This was our date night, we ate at Lucille's in the district and then walked around the mall. Great weather and fun times!
I was trying to get everyone to be goofy and take silly pictures! This is what I ended up with...lol. Sam and Mandy just couldn't let their kid side come through. We still love them though.
Lex and I had a funny day at the spa while the boys went golfing and Mandy went shopping. We bought a spa deal on travel zoo. It included lunch, 80 min massage, 25 min pedicure, champagne and some nasty pomegranate drink. We pulled up to this fancy resort out in lake Las Vegas and they valeted the Mazda...weird! We got out and the worker says to lex "indulge yourselves" We then had a way to high class lunch in our beach wear, we were so under dressed. When we turned down our champagne our server said some sarcastic comment and then basically recommended salads for us. Well lex and I decided on these massive sandwiches that were loaded with too much basil... it wasn't normal food. After lunch we headed to the spa to relax before our massages. We head into the relaxation area which has a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The jacuzzi was cold because they had just cleaned it and filled it back up. So we decided to try out the steam room. Well you cant see a thing when you walk into it, as we are walking in we see a figure in the corner. As our eyes adjust a bit we notice it is a 60 year old lady BUTT NAKED. Yup, it was a little bit uncomfortable and I couldn't help but laugh. We end up seeing her about 10 times butt naked. standing up and stretching, sitting down, swimming... you name it. She was very comfortable in her own skin! In the steam room you instantly  start sweating. I have heard that it was good for you but we would be in there about 5 min and then we started getting dizzy so we kept going in and out. After about and hour of that we got ready for our massages. They ended up being great. You would think that 80 minutes would totally be long enough but it went by so fast. It was so relaxing. We then went and got pedicures. They were good too, I just hate the color I picked and the pomegranate drink they gave us was gross. Over all we had a great relaxing day but figured that resort was a little to high class for us. It was very nice to just relax and chat. Here we are in all our glory.
On Saturday, Daniel and I got to spend some alone time together at the pool. We went and layed out. It was SO nice to get to actually lay there with no kids to have to watch for. We enjoyed every minute!
Then we got dressed and headed over to the game. We got there super early because Daniel and Sam had this great idea. The BYU tickets were being scalped for 200 bucks the night before so we ended up buying 14 tickets to the Championship game. Something I will never do again. We had to scalp 5 tickets and we barely got rid of them... We were actually lucky to get what we paid for. I actually believe now what all those other scalpers said, BYU fans are cheap. HaHa. Figures. After that though we enjoyed the game! And now BYU is in the sweet sixteen! Do you like our Jimmer Shirts?
We had a great weekend, I'm so glad my parents took our kids for the weekend. It was as much needed vacation. Since living in Virginia I don't think I have had more than 15 hours away from the kids besides moving home. I enjoyed every minute!

The kids

This is kind of a random post but its all about my cute kiddos. A lot has been going on lately and I don't think they have a clue. They are just content with whatever we are doing that day. Daniel has hardly got to see them these past few weeks and for the most part they have done great. Luckily he is now starting rotations in town so we will get to see him every day! These first pictures are from when we took a Sunday walk. We were looking at Sam and Mandy's house construction and Easton made his way to this tractor in the back yard. Easton is a total boy! He loves tires and big trucks. Every Sunday while walking into church he stops and touches all the cars tires that we pass. I've tried to stop him but he just can't resist, I just love washing his black hands. Anyways, so here is some pictures of him on the tractor...he was in love.
This one is of Emilie and Max mostly but I decided to throw a phone pic of Easton in there too. Max was visiting Grandma Gilberg and came to gymnastics one day. Max is Emilie's closest cousin. They pretty much have a love hate relationship. Most of the time they play together great but Emilie loves girl things to the extreme and max likes cars and dragons to the extreme. I always grew up around a lot of cousins and they were pretty much my best friends growing up. I'm so happy to be able to live close to most all of Emilie and Eastons cousins...or just family in general.
And this is our St. Patrick's day photo shoot. Love them!
I really do love these kids and I am so very thankful for the opportunity I have to be their mother. Its hard and at times I feel like a single mom or complain that I am, but we always make it through the tough weeks. And I have a great family and husband that remind me that I'm not. These kiddos remind me every day how important my role to them is. We are very blessed!
I wanted to document a couple of funny things miss Emilie has done lately. I had to teach her primary class a couple of weeks ago. While in class Emilie pulled out a fake phone from her pocket and answered it. (I just stared in wonder) She says/whispers..."Hello...I'm in church right now, can I call you back later" WHAT...really? Where did she learn that. She quietly puts her phone back in her pocket. The little boy next her her says. "Who's phone is that?' and she responds with "its mine" and then acted like she was listening so quietly. I seriously don't know where she learned that from and second why was she acting so grown up! I couldn't help but laugh about that for the rest of the day.
Next... I told her that we had signed her up for t-ball and asked if she was excited. She said yes in pure joy. A couple hours later she came up to me and said "mom, do you want me to show you what t-ball is like" I said sure... She then points her arms to a V and then straight out and cheers go BYU... go BYU. I was busting up. She totally thought t-ball was cheerleading. Is she a total girl or what. I then explained what t-ball was, I hope she is not disappointed.
Well onto more crazy weeks. Emilie has been sick with the flu I guess. She threw up yesterday about 30 times. Roughly 2-3 times and hour. Eastons turns 2 this week. Then on the 29th both kids are getting their tonsils out and on the 7th I get my tonsils out! Wish us luck, should be fun.

Weekend with the Family

I don't have much to blog about this week...sorry. We did have a great weekend, Nicholas and Kelli came over we had a great day up at peek-a-boo 4-wheeling, eating & playing in the sand.
This picture is 2 weekends ago when it snowed like crazy and we took the four wheelers out and pulled each other on the tube.
And here is this last weekend it was so nice. A great family day up at the peek-a-boo dunes. As you can see in the pictures below, Daniel decided to hang out with less clothes on than most ;) I still love him though!
And here is a video of our attempt to teach Emilie how to roll down the sands.
This has been a very crazy week so far, its amazing really! I felt as if I had an ulcer on Monday, things were great today. I am excited for what the future holds! As for now... I am super excited for a small relaxing vacation with the hubbster this weekend. Hopefully I get some good pics. Go BYU!
